Thanks for the help guys. Most holes that we dig are approx. 4' deep X 2' wide. Also, most holes are at residential estate with full-time landscapers that wouldn't want to see their lawn thrashed up by the excavator. Thats why I was leaning towards the BX23 or B21, possibly with the turf tires. Plus most jobs that we do arent accessible by truck either. So the spoil is still an issue too. I was thinking about pre-mixing the concrete into forms and transporting them to jobs. So I xould excavate the hole, drop the concrete form in, then backfill w/ the spoil and lose the rest in the woods. You gotta help me guys.....

Had anyone heard or read anything about the Jeep Liberty Diesel to be available this fall(2004)? Last I heard was a Daimler 2.5L turbo 4-cyllinder. Really interested, but all I ever get from dealers is the blank "100 Yard Stare" followed by a heavy pitch to the V-6 gas (yuck!).

thanks mike,, the tractor already has a loader on it,any reason why it should not still handle and work with in on it? will proberly be trying to use it mainly for keeping ground and driveways level.

Does any one know if anyone makes a rear mount mower that is equiped with a large hopper for clippings like the Caroni SPA Mow & Carry. I dont need the Hydro Dump action, but it is cool. Thanks in advance! <br>

I do not know how you plan on disposing of your "by product" but seriously take in consideration of how high your fel bucket/tines will reach ie manure spreader,pick up,1 ton dump or real dump truck

Thanks for the help. I should have mentioned that I'm spraying trees and must get the pesticide up 30 - 40 foot pinions and ponderosa so I need a bit of pressure.

Rocky Top, I use my 4410 for pretty much everything you mentioned except the pond building. You will need a dozer for that. Yes, I have the 72" MMM and yes I and VERY happy with it. It gives a real nice cut and is built like a tank (7 guage steel, all a one piece stamping). For you application, I would recommend the MX5 rotary cutter. The flail mower is a nice cutting implement but does not like a lot of debry, rocks and brush/sapplings. They are a bit on the pricey side as well. I agree, sounds to me like your pop up blocker is causing the JD website not to work.

When I look at buying something like this, I generally look at what people that rely on them to make their living use. Around here, the commercial people use Echo, Stihl or Tanaka. I own 3 Echo trimmers and one small chainsaw and have had no problems whatsoever. If you take care of them and perform normal maintenance and keep stabilizer in the gas, I think you will be very happy. I've heard good things about all three, for me it just came down to price and service.

Due to loss of traction w/box blade engaged, I've bought into this 'wheel weight' concept. Looked at the EZ weights sytem and didn't like it. Mine is loosely based on it. Not rocket science. Consists of 1/2 steel plate, 1" (B7 grade) threaded rod at center, tapped into plate and set with split-ring lock washer and 1/2 nut at rear. The initial plate (which stays on wheel) is approx 20#. Additional plates have weights depending on shape of plate. 12x12x.5 plate is 20#, 12" diameter x .5" is 16+#.<br>

My owners manual suggests aprox 75# per wheel. Don't think 100# would hurt. Grade 5 carraige bolts hold initial plate to wheel. 1" bolt with flat and lock hold additional plates to first plate. Initial plate plus 4 more is about 90+#. This would only require a 6" rod at first plate. Should work fine.<br>

My pics 11, 12, 13 show the front/rear/both. Of course you could slide on any "barbell" style weight and adjust 1" rod accordingly.<br>
I'm opting for the 1/2"plates as I could use them elswhere when not on tractor. I assume I will leave them on though, we'll see. <br>

i-g-b-green makes a good point. I was loking for a more basic machine that would tow-around a few items but primarily FEL work. As you know a geared will be just groovy for long-time intervals of pulling a mower or possible tiller. But if you do not want to become frustrated go to the next step and get power steering and definately the LA302 over the LA272. The capacity is just a touch more but it comes with a very nice brush guard assembly for front.<br>
Another issue for me was something that the wife could use to move horse poop (equine #2)around. This frees up a little time for me to play some golf. We have just 5 acres but also have streams and ponds on our property. Equine-2 management is very important.<br>

Please tell me the location of hydro filter for Tg1860 Diesel.Owners manual makes no mention of it or bleeding info for fuel line after changing fuel filter. Guess this is their way of getting after-market service work.<br>

I did check for a dipstick under the fill plug on the differential and there isn't one. I assumed the axle and the gearcases had to be separate reservoirs because the check plugs on the gearcases are below the bottom of the axle. If it was a common reservoir filled to the checkplugs on the gearcases, the axle would be dry. I looked at the exploded view in the parts book a little closer and it doesn't look like the whole axle housing is full of oil, just the differential housing. So there are three separate reservoirs. I still don't know what to put in them or how full to fill the differential. I'll take Chief's advice and check with Ronnie. Thanks for your help.

Deere recommends up to 180# per wheel, 360 total on the 4110. I have 150/300 which consists of 2 50# plates in back of two 25# plates on each side.

I can use 50's right next to the lug bolts due to my 16.5 inch rims. Your turfs may come with 15" rims. You may have to put a couple of 25's on first to provide clearance for the larger weights. You may find different manufacturers in your region with different dimensioned plates.

Garage sales are the best and cheapest place.... stick to 25# or larger plates. Next best are the used sporting goods stores where used plates are generally sold for about 35 cents a pound. Main-line sporting goods stores will run sales on new plates at 50 cents a pound.

Let's see now.

Wood pellets and corn ARE roughly the same size, and several makers advertise that their units can handle both, but I'm told (by a friend in the business) that there is a slight difference. I seem to recall that it was a) BTU's and b) the debris left behind, this mandated a difference in the fire pot between the two fuels.

ANY oil furnace can be adapted to burn waste oil. There are companies that make them, but I'm told (by the same friend as above) that the difference is that they have some sort of multiple nozzle burner so that the orifice size can be varied on the fly to match the heat value of the oil being burned. Extra filters, etc., are also required. I have seen a 'home-made' one, a mechanic up here made one for his shop. It is a standard oil furnace with a much larger nozzle & pump and multiple filters and sediment traps. He did a little 'experimenting' at first to get the nozzle size right, etc., but says it has been trouble-free for several years now. In fact he allows home-owners to bring their used oil to him since he doesn't generate enough to satisfy his heating needs. I know there are several manufacturers out there, if you do a search by "waste oil furnace" I'm sure you will find lots of them. I have linked to a 'home-brewed' oil stove a fellow is doing, I thought it might be of interest to you. I think you, like myself, are if nothing else interested in clever ideas and concepts.

On mine the shims go between the solenoid and starter assembly case. The solenoid plunger pulls a lever that pushes the pinion into engagement with the flywheel gear. Increasing the number of shims moves the solenoid further from the starter case, which pulls the lever and moves the pinion closer to the flywheel.

As a ball park area to shoot for; figure approx. 1/3 off of the MSRP for the Gator and accessories since it is a used return. They will probably want more but you can bargain up from there.

If 475 ft. of snow blowing and 1.5 acres of mowing are the primary duties I would suggest something in the smaller range such as the John Deere 2210, maybe an X Series tractor or Kubota BX series. Much more than these would tend to be over kill unless you have other tasks you have not mentioned. I would suggest hydrostatic trans, diesel engine 4WD is a MUST, and the hybid type turf tires that have a mild bar tread. A cab such as a Curtis Soft Cab would be real nice for the snow blowing but will really run the price up.
