You sound like the perfect person to ask. Sounds like you do this on a regulat basis. How hard was it to remove and re-install the FEL the first time? I have a 7800, that should be almost identical to your 2910 FEL. The bucket is a little heavier, since I have a non-stock 4-in-1, but the arms are Kubota.<br>

I haven't tried yet, but the stock lights are definitely almost useless because of the bucket, and it would be nice to have it gone sometimes.<br>

Just don't want to get it off and have a major project to re-install.<br>

Most of what little I know about tractors I learned here, but I did just buy a 4110 gear in November, so I'll say a few words about the machine. Our acreage and driveways are almost identical, I do my own wood, etc.

I have found the shift easy to use in manner you describe. I tend to leave it in 2nd and shift between either of the forward gears and reverse depending on the job. So that part I think is fairly straightforward, although as has been pointed out, it's a tradeoff between gear/hst for torque/ease.

I have not had any difficulty with snow removal here in Vermont with this machine. I got a 3pt blower and leave the bucket on, it's awesome for snow. Although I learned a *huge* amount to help me make my decision from Mark's posts, I must disagree on the blower -- I've experienced no problems whatever with the gear, and in fact, on this model it works better, because cruise control doesn't work in reverse. So you'd look like a pretzel trying to run that blower with hst, but with the gear, I just set it and can pay full attention to the hitch and steering. It shows no sign of bogging down in deep packed banks, and only a little even after they've frozen up after a week.

You know the answer: do the demo!

I have the opportunity to buy a 4WD HST 4200 with a 420 loader and Gannon box for $10,500. It has relatively high hours at 1470, but it looks like it is in good shape. This price also includes a 10,000 lb dual-axle trailer. Does this sound like a good price? Thanks for any input.

My 2910 had two options, a 52" bucket and a 60" bucket. I am told the smaller is the heavy duty and the larger is for light material. There is some discussion in the archives about them. I have the 60" and have seen it flex under some heavy stress but don't care. If it bends I'll fix it, I don't want a smaller unit.

New spool valve. New oil (JD recommended). New filter. Having dis-assembled the old spool valve, there are no replaceable internal oil rings (nothing inside the spool valve can be repaired). Have not yet checked the oil pressure. Have also attempted to bleed any air out of the loader by cracking fittings - didn't notice any. As new spool was over $300.00 (self installed) I'm trying to eliminate all other possibilities. It seems odd to me that both the lift arm and roll back spools would both be bad.

One more thought, you might post a question in the Backhoe forum regarding what you can and can't do vis a vis hole shape, digging speed, etc., just from a general BH operating perspective. I'm a real beginner, although I think I've been able to get the hang of some of the basic operations.

I wish to hell w.va. would be like mich. in not allowing people to feed corn and such. Both my neighbors started doing it,so come bowseason,I had to do it too,except mine was right below my tree stand,poor tame fed all year long deer didn't have a chance. If your going to feed deer it ought to be away from homes and gardens,if you don't have enough land to do that then you oughten to be feeding them. Deer are suposed to be wild,if they are not,then you get stuff like lime and t.b.,deer shit in your yard,dead fruit trees,and ate up gardens. Food plots out away from homes,is a good thing,but only for hunting,they come,you shoot them,otherwise you are just helping to support a larger deer herd then your area can natually support. Richard

Had trouble with engine started fine then it ran for about 2 min. then it stared to miss then black smoke would shoot out so often.I tried to increase rpm.made it worse.It died then tried again same thing took place.It's a 332 Deere.It's got 1200 hr.on meter.What would cause this? I think it might be gell of fuel,or could be something else never had this done before.<br>

The L-2800 is a economy tractor and as much as the extendable hitch links are nice they are not on the tractor from the factory. The extra outlets that Murf mentioned are an advantage and do open you to other nice options to hook up to.

I am considering buying a trailer for my PT-425. I've looked at the Power-Trac dump trailers, but would rather have something I could tow behind the tractor instead of having to go in reverse to get to where I want to be. Am I not understanding how they work? Also, does anyone know how much weight the PT-425 will pull around? I have some hills on my property, so I'd like to know for level ground as well as ground at about a 15% grade. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Generally the importer and distributor will not provide warranty cover for the imported item. In this case this is not a problem as I am an ex dealer and can do my own repairs. As most of the parts for the BX23v are interchangeable with the earlier BS2200 and BX2230 and can be bought over the counter from Australian dealers parts supply is not a problem. Most dealers also chase service work so they will do any repairs necessary... they just cannot provide warranty support. If an item, fails under warranty most US dealers seem to be happy to provide some sort of warranty support. I believe it all depends on the relationship.. if one is not demanding but reasonable one usually receives like response.

For just food plots, I wouldn't get to fancy with the tilling. With only 5 acres more to do, I would use the existing disc and weigh it down. I would work it several times in opposite directions and then maybe on a diagonal. I would also lightly disc in the seeds(without weights on the disc)or use a spike tooth drag. I don't think it needs raking or anything special. If you have excess cash send it to me. Otherwise spend it on some other implements. What do you use for spraying and seeding?

If you have some light brush, I'd suggest using a moldboard plow and turning it over. That will disturb the root system that "Round-up" weed killer won't touch. Your tractor should be able to pull a 2 or 3 bottom plow quite easily. I know many are getting away from this but I was taught that way and find it hard to get away from. Discing is real easy then. You should be able to get a good 3 bottom plow for about $350.00. If you can't find one locally, I'd consider selling you one of mine. I've got an IH 3 bottom with 16" moldboards with one moldboard removed (have the loose parts)with category II mounting (originally was a fasthitch mount). Just needs reducer bushings for your cat.I.

There is no filter on the 304 or the 354 for power steering. By now the temp has risen and steering should be returning to normal. Recommended on other board go to lighter fluid if you are going to run in those low temps. Fluid res. is before the radiator so it is not going to warm up much from use. Could run a hair dryer near the res. if you really want to go in such cold weather. Small mag heater on res. will also work.

I have a YM1720D tractor that when I put the tractor in neutral it still wants to pull forward. I can hold it from moving by holding the wheel, but let the wheel go and it want's to move forward. I was told there was an O ring in the valve body that was bad, took it apart but no O ring to be found, What else can it be? any help would be appreciated

From the prices I found, the Onan engine looks to cost about $1500. That is still not very cheap but much less than the Kohler and the far superior engine in my opinion. Onan is a subsidiary of Cummins Diesel.
