I purchased a Land Pride PD 25. There are less expensive models and brands out there. I have been very happy with all of my Land Pride impliments. A PD 10 or 15 might be a better fit due to pto hp.

In extreme cold the cylinders can leak a little. (seepage) If the leak is more than that, the best thing to do is remove the entire cylinder and take it to the dealer or equipment shop and have them put a rebuild kit in it for you. Repacking a cylinder requires spanner wrenches and some larger than normal wrenches in some cases. I posted a how to about doing this awhile back somewhere on this board. (CRS precludes my posting the link) Take a browse and review it if you can find it. ;o) I will look and post the link if I find it.

I checked my BX2200 manual and it doesn't mention any option for this open slot. Because of the picture that corresponds with it, I just assumed it was a spot for a lever to control a hydraulic top link for the three point. Since the new models have the cruise lever in this opening, I assume I could put it on mine. Will have to look at a 2230 at the dealership to compare.

NHDaveD, I am in the same boat as you and am interested in a rear mount snow blower for my 755. I would never give up the front blade as it does agreat job with the wet slush we sometime get near Philly. I replaced the metal cutting blade with a rubber squeege and raised the skid shoes all the way up so the blade rest directly on the driveway. Does a great job on my asphalt driveway but the blower would be nice for the big one.

Thanks Harvey, I do alot of Hay work now on my old neighbors farm and we work on the barter system, I help him mow, rake and stack in the mow, and he lets me bowhunt and get my hay at either the free or extremely reduced rate ( pending how much I help out ). But he just bought an new NH round baler last summer and mde over 900 round bales on first cut alone. I don't have enough land ( Yet! ) to invest big time, but my new neighbor ( Who is a Dentist and bought 108 Acres, but doesn't farm ) may allow me to do some sort of lease. If I could find some good priced used equipment I would be set. I have done some local auctions and sales, but as I said, most of the stuff around here seems to be for the big rigs and any of the old stuff just seems to be left out in fields. There is a place down the road from that has alot of Sheep ( Please no WV Jokes ) and in the middle of his pastures are 4 old JD's scattered around along with some other old equipment. I have thought about stopping as asking what he would want for them. But... Well you know time and money..... They have been there for years, so I guess I can wait a little longer.

I have a small coal /wood boiler tied into my oil fired BBHW system. It's been in use since 1977. My oil burner
will take over when the heat demand exceeds the coal fired boiler. I use hard nut size coal. Buying coal by the bag
is expensive. If you have storage room buy it by the ton.
You should be able to get it delivered. You will get more ash and dust with coal,and you will have to find a place for your ashes. I use them on my gravel driveway.

Abbeywoods, if your 4610 has the low serial # seat; the kit will work, otherwise you have to go with the new kit. If you want the low serial # arm rest kit; I would highly recommend that you order it ASAP because John Deere has designated the kit as an obsolete part and has an updated arm rest kit that I don't like at all. It requires a bracket to be riveted to the plastic seat back and does not look very strong. The arm rest kit I purchased is part # LVB25453 and cost me $77. These kits are still in stock at many dealers but once the stock is exhausted; that is it. The new kits will be used.

You might want to consider a hydraulic winch. I have one that I use on my tractor, my truck and on a utility trailer. On my truck I use the power steering pump as a hydraulic source and on my utility trailer I use a saginaw power steering pump powered by a five hp motor.The cost is about the same. I really use this a lot as I have a spinal cord disease and I use it to move a lot of things that a few years back I would have moved by hand. Just a thought.

The blower on the back with the loader on the front is good land less money then the front blower with that being the best machine for snow removal of any amount.

Yes it is unfortunate and expensive. I called a few salvage yards and they basically told me that tractor salvage yards don't usually mess with small compact tractors. If anyone knows of salvage yards that do, I would appreciate finding out about them.

I have found couple of places that claim to be able to weld up the crank and turn it back down again. I am a little sceptable (spelling) about how well this would work and/or hold up.

I was hoping somebody on here would know where I might find a good used crank or engine.

Most of the people who commented on the color didn't want the attention that a pure orange hat would give them. I on the other hand like it. I wear my red Jonsereds chainsaw hat whenever I'm with my friends who own Stihls. They're jealous because they didn't get a hat with thier saws. :-)

Suggest several possibilities.
1. Will your lights turn on? If no, go to point #2. If yes, go to point #3. If the lights go on but seem very dim go to point #2.

2. Clean your battery terminals and check tightness of ground cable at the point on the tractor body. A loose ground or bad connection gives no juice. If you tested the battery directly on the battery posts, it wouldn't show a bad connection. Have you tried jumping it. You may have a weak battery with a dead cell as Ken had suggested.

3. If you have a PTO drive, the lever may have been bumped and the shut-off safety switch connected to it may not let you start the tractor. You can't start the tractor with PTO engaged. Similarly, you can't start your tractor in gear without the clutch being dumped or in neutral.

4. Next steps would be progressive, testing for electricity from keyswitch to starter. You should have a fuse next to the key. Check it out, usually one for ignition and the other the lights. Sometimes a starter can stop in a dead position. Give it a gentle "love tap" with rubber mallot. I don't know if you have a dead nothing or can hear the starter attempt to engage or not.

5. If it has a gear type transmission which I think it has try towing it. Tow it in the forward direction in 2nd gear and release the clutch. Don't tow a hydro!
