Thanks for taking the time to write this, Steve. I am sure that it<br>was a difficult message to write. I use a 3-pt backhoe and sure was<br>surprised one day when the 3-pt

the bucket to push against a rock. Just like a flash, the lift arms
jumped a few inches. When the arms came up against the preventer, the
resulting forces encouraged the draft compensation to re-engage the
hydraulics and lift the arms a few more inches....now the preventer is
bending (I had the backhoe on my big Ag JD) and I hear the darn draft
control re-engaging for another lift!! At this point metal is starting
to groan and it has only been a few seconds since the whole cycle started.
Frankly, I bailed off of the backhoe seat and ran. Eventually the hydraulic
load got so heavy that the engine stalled. Lucky for me I was working with
the engine at an idle. If it had been at full power the damage would have
been worse as well as happening quicker.

I have been following this thread with interest. I am a Case / IH dealer and a dealer for commerical mowing equipment. Green is not one of my favorite colors however I may be able to add several observations to this discussion. JD has done a nice job with the 4xxx series, but these are tractors designed to do everything from mowing, to loader work, to tillage operations. To accomidate all these conflicting goals obviously the tractor design is a compromise to try and do everything. If turning radius was reduced to reduce mower scuffing, the loader guys would scream about lack of manuverability. If weight was reduced the guys using the tractor for tillage would complain about wheel slip. I could go on, but the point is a tractor has design compromises to allow it do to many things. If the dealer told you something otherwise shame on him. If you look at true purpose built mowing machines (the ones the commericial guys us) They use caster type wheels (no scuffing) everywhere except the drive wheels and true zero turn drive wheels. These machines are optimized to mow turf fast and without scuffing. However they don't have tree point hitches or loader attachments. A purpose built machine will always outperform the general purpose machine at a specific task, but the general purpose machine (tractor) can do more things. It sounds to me like some of these folks would be alot happier with a zero turn commercial mower and that maybe the dealer didn't listen and sold the wrong machine.

A dealer with an attitude like that would never get my business. I would also spread the word about his/her attitude to every potential client. Imagine if you had purchased the original unit from them and received that attitude when it came time for service. Regardless if you are buying a bolt or a tractor, it is YOUR money and they want to sell the product. Bad attitude = no money!

Hello. 1) What price so you sell a B2100 Kubota w/loader/4wd for?<br>I live in MA. I'm looking at the JD4100, JD790, and NH1520 so far. I may buy used but a good used is approx 75% new through a dealer. True?<br>2) How do you choose between Kubota, New Holland, John Deere, Cub Cadet and Kubota. Matt,<br>I will try to give best and worst of everything if possible.<br>Engine.....Boomer had very poor power output! Driving on the road in high range resulted in me having to shut the cruise off, back off on the pedal until I was down to walking speeds. Hills sucked! JD has very good power, although Boomer had 25.3hp and JD has 32, hard to compare.<br>Tires.....If I ever trade again, I will probably get the turf tires again. Boomer had the R4 tires (skid loader style), which made angle-blading difficult (tractor would slide sideways sometimes due to tire design) JD has turf tires which I think give me as good or better traction all-around than my R4 tires did on snow and gravel.<br>Hydraulics....Boomer had pathetic loader power! Would not lift the front tires off the ground when scraping, and most of the time I had to take 1/2 bucket loads because the rams would not offer enough breakout force to lift the dirt/gravel/snow that was in the bucket! (quick-connects leaked like crazy too!)<br>Steering....I never really used the brakes that much on the Boomer since the turning radius was so short (supersteer is great, may have been better if I had put turf tires on front end). JD is constantly scuffing turf/gravel/blacktop whenever turning more than 45 degrees or so. (yes, I do know how to drive this thing,,, 2x4, low speeds and it still scuffs)<br>Controls..... Boomer controls are much easier to use. <br>Seat....Boomer is much better suspended, more comfortable over rough lawns.<br>Tilt wheel...Boomer had tilt/telescope wheel, JD only has tilt<br>3-point.... I really miss my deluxe 3 point on my boomer! JD sucks!<br>Overall.....My wife has said recently that she still liked the Boomer better, that she felt more comfortable/safe when mowing with it. I think the Boomer has better curbside appeal, JD is more for the workhorse stuff.<br>Boomer better:Tilt wheel, seat, controls, overall look, Deluxe 3 point setup.<br>JD better: more power, engine is quieter/easier to start/way less startup smoke, better loader performance, live pto (no clutching to engage)<br>I hear that New Holland has

Terry, <br>Don't get me wrong I think the JD is a good machine but so is the Kubota and some times people try to compare apples to oranges ie: implying that the JD has a more powerful front loader when in fact it does not, they are comparable but the specs are misleading because one measures the force from the pin and the other measures from the front of the bucket....it has been a long time since physics and calculus but I do know that those are not equivalant measurements.<br>To answer your question directly the advantages of the Kubota in my opinion are:<br>1) No tire scuffing, that the maufacturer won't work to correct.<br>2) No long waits for delivery<br>3) Better price <br>4) No pedal problems<br>5) No hydaulic lock problem<br>6) Some would ssy that the brake pedals are problem and some would say that it isn't and some would say that plastic fenders are a drawback and some would say that it isn't, so I guess that that is a draw. <br>Evryone has there own preferance and it may even come down to the particular dealer that you are working with but I found that I liked the orange and others obviously won't agree but that is life!<br>Have a good day, Doug<br>

In looking for a used tractor, we have come upon an L2850 with 3000 hours on it, with loader. The asking price is $10500 plus tax (it's at a dealer). It's nine years old and seems to be in fairly good shape. The price seems a bit high to me, and I'd love any imput from anyone on price, and thoughts on a tractor with 3000 hours.... thanks!!!

We are looking for the same set up...can't get the Hydro without a llooonnnnggg wait, so we are going for the standard gears. I think it will be plenty powerful for light and med loader work, and the mowing...? who can really tell. We were able to get a dealer to $14500 plus tax for a lease return with 69 hours and full warranty. is your price including tax? These little machines are sooo expensive!
