I jusy recieved my 4400 today I tried to engage the lock on the control valve, it can be picked up, but will not slide completely over. Has anyone else had this problem, and what did it take to fix it, also the hdy lever, when tring to move it to the left, will not go as far as to the right. Besides these, I sure am impressed with the rest of tractor.

I tried mine once and it was real hard so I left it alone. Can't say if I was doing it right or not. I'll try it this weekend. ....

I think I will pull off cover to see if it goes in the slot, or if the rod is bent, it seems to be bent down so I cant pull it all the way up. Let me Know how yours does. Thanks ....

Yes--this is one of the several problems that I have experienced with my 4400. I had the dealer fix it when it was in for another problem--and do not know how it was fixed.Mike S. ....

Terry, If I remember what I read a couple months ago??? This is an easy dealer fix under warranty. They replace the whole slider panel that allows proper lever movement with an updated version. Contact your dealer he should have a memo from Deere on the updated part. Its common on that series and I thought they were sending them out with the new part at least two months ago--- Before they left the lot.---I may be wrong. regards Mike T. ....

I have not had time to take my 4400 JD tractor back to fix the hdy lock, so I thought I might try and fix my self and I did I took a 6in 3/8 drive extension, the square end and push it on to the shaft of the lock rod and gave it a good pull upwards and bent it about 316, works great now. ....
