rule of tumb is the width of the bucket on the tractor is the width of the box scraper. On rear blades one foot wider than the bucket and rake 2 foot. So a 48" bucket would be a 48" box blade, 60" rear blade and 72" rake.

Skidded my first log yesterday!

I got off to a shakey start pulling a 24 inch log about 50 ft. long that I had cut out of a pile and limbed it. I put the choker cable around it, hooked up to my tractor, put her in 4WD and gradually took up the tension while I locked the differential. The log started to move readily and pulled fine for about 3 ft. and a big branch got hung up in the pile I was pulling it out of and all 4 tires dug in. A quick persuasion with the Stihl O-66 fixed that and I was able to pull it free. I was surprised how well the choker worked and how the tractor pulled a log that big (had about 1/2 a cord of wood in it) Just have to take it slow and easy and be real gentle about setting the differential lock. Sure makes cutting up tree in a pile easier.

Bought new Long 2360 spring 2002. Smoked, used oil. Dealer overhauled. Still smokes, uses oil. Had bad steering knuckle. Dealer replaced with another bad steering knuckle.<br>
Hydraulic fluid rusty. Hydraulic response bad. Put in new fluid. Fluid rusty again. Response bad. Asked dealer for a service manual so could do my own work. Dealer said he would get me one. (More than a year ago) Dealer still says he will get me one. Engine misses, is hard to start, loosing power. Hydraulics getting worse. Less than 1000 hrs. Sigh. Anybody got a service manual? Help!?

On the Borgford web site I saw a picture of a nice looking front blade that had some adjustable skid pads mounted behind it hold it off the ground. I don't know if this is typical for blades but it seems that could be made to work for loader buckets too.

Sorry Tom, I thought I was clearer than I was after re-reading my post.

My point was that since the TX/R. Axle case, as well as all the steel portions of the lines are basically oil coolers.

Since increased flow means more exposure to the cooling componenets, and a reduced heat load (per volumetric unit of oil) since the work load, and therefore the heat generated by same, is spread over a greater volume of oil, the temerature of the oil is going to be lower.

Sort of the oil version of 10 men doing a task instead of 2, each person does that much less work to accomplish the same thing, therefore they don't get as tired or hot doing it.

The FarmPro website shows no available implements for the 20hp 2 wheel drive. I read somewhere that there are dealers selling them but it is not recommended by
FarmPro.

Take the unit apart and use another axle for your spec's to build one. The last numbers on those is for a kit that is not in the parts system at this point. Even the places that dealers sell there stock to don't have it and it was last listed at nearly 800. Those were unique machines with a lot of traction.

Maybe you can buy the grill guard that comes with the FEL. For branches you still might want to weld in some mesh to close up the open spaces. I've already mucked up my lower grill panel by poking a branch through the guard openings.

Pretty good comments--they're reminders for my theorizing that it takes speed for blades to work well. The large flared and highly curved blades on highway plows going 30 mph really blasts the stuff quite a ways up my drive.

I've heard about waxing blades before but the comment got me thinking. I've heard of people using silicon or Pam on blower chutes. I thought the use was to reduce chute clogging. Maybe it would increase snow flow through the chute and I my blower would handle faster ground speeds in very heavy snows. As it is my lowest reverse gives me .8 mph at pto rpm. That's a bit too fast for snows around 3'. The fan doesn't clear snow as fast as the auger feeds it and the blower turns into a plow. I have to stop and chew away at the pile before continuing. It'd be a real pain without live-pto. Of course, I wouldn't have this problem with HST since I could just go slower. It does sound like there's a chance that a bit of 'slick' in the chute might help.

I get the pic and the oil thing likely is right depending on how many hours are on the engine. I guess the pitting is on the valve seats and specialty welding shops can do amazing things.

One thought I had is if the pitting (rusting?) came from coolant leaks the rings may be affected too. If it has fairly low hours the cylinders may be OK but honing and new rings may be advisable--more tear-down though. I wonder if a leak-down compression test might be useful. It might show for certain where the compression loss is happening. At least I've heard of things like listening for air loss into the manifolds with stethoscopes and putting heavy oil on top of the pistons to see if the leak-down slows. If it's all in the head and the hours aren't too high then maybe repairing the head might do the trick without turning it into an oil burner. I would check the valve guide clearances because that can be a source of oil burning and compression loss as well.

Good luck with this and I imagine you have the NH repair manual.

Generally at construction sites there are ground heaters involved.

Plain Black plastic will absorb some of the sun but with the weather we just had -20+ for 2 days (our little valley) it would not help. For what little you'd gain during the day you'd lose more at night.

Maybe you can find the kind that has some baffeling in it for minimal insulation talk to a contrete contractor for some info on that.

I have used wedges of hay to insulate the ground for late season digging and or push lots of snow over the area to protect it from frost.

Yellow pages unde diesel repair. If that fails call a heavy duty truck repair and ask them who rebuilds pumps. They will know.

It would be a rare pump or a very destroyed one they can not rebuild.

Jason, I have a front mount sweeper, it runs off the rear pto, I took it off a used Ford 1910 that I bought. I have never used it(the sweeper), and have been thinking of selling. If you are interested send me an e-mail. Ill try to post up a picture of it.<br>
