I'm anxious to complete banking fill against my poolyard extension so that I can get my CO on fence before the building permit expires April 30th. The town gave me a hard time about pool fence height exceeding 6' (from outside of poolyard) so I had to bring in 64 yards of bank run to increase the grade around the poolyard extension.<br>

I have a JD 4310 with 430 loader and 47 backhoe. There is no snow - but after the cold weather this week there will be a crust of ice on the surface. Has anyone ever worked through winter digging with their CUT? Will I be needlessly stressing my baby? Or can it handle the abuse? <br>

I am definately pro-blade. I have used a front blade on my JDs for years (2210 now, going to a 4110 this month). With a rubber squeegee on asphault or concrete, it can't be beat. Loader and rear blades work, but snow removal with a front blade is 5-10 times faster than a loader and about the same 5-10 times faster than a rear blade. It is 2-3 times faster than a blower, but leaves the piles. Make sure you start the season by creating your berm a blade-width into the lawn. Of course you can use the loader to relocate the big piles if they do build up.

In Southern Michigan, you will not likely see much melting, so the blower may ultimately be the best choice. If you want to save a couple of grand, I'd get the front blade set-up. I swear by mine and will take on any other solution with snows under two feet.

I'm in Minnesota and almost ready to "pull the trigger" on a new 4310mfwd with the following options; E-hydro, mid pto, turf tires, dual mid & single rear scv. Also with a 72"mmm and the 59" snowblower. The price quoted from my dealer is $21,850 plus taxes. Fair price?

The Terraplane 38HP is a DongFeng or DF tractor. These tractors have a solid reputation. Your friend may also want to look at the KAMA TS354C or KM454 before making a decision. IMO these are some of the best China has to offer. Jinma also build a tractor in this size catagory, either 35 or 40HP the Jinma has the largest number of dealers and their smaller tractors have made them very popular in the US. If your friend would consider a smaller tractor, than Lenar (also sold as Agtraxx) is of Comparable quality to the DF or KAMA, but it is only available in 28HP at present. Of course the dealer can add to or detract from the overall value of any tractor purchase.

Thanks Chief! Am seriously consider your thoughts & opinion. In fact, I'm really leaning towards the 4310 now. Likely will order it with 72" mmm and 59" front mount snowblower. Any other suggestions also welcome as I'm kinda' new here. Thanks again.

If you are using Acetylene, safe pressures are 5lbs Acet. and 35 lb Oxygen. This is practical for metals around 1/8 - 1/4" Please be very careful with the Acetylene! Never let the working pressure gauge get above, (or close to), 15 lbs. There should be a red sweep line on the gauge. If would ever get that high it could come out in liquid form and ignite when it mixes with oxygen in the air. Also, keep the cylinders secured in an upright position, periodally check for leaks with soapy water, (including the hoses), I recommend that when done using to shut the tank valves off, bleed the system, and back-off the regulator screws. Please us caution when operating the cutting outfit, it is potentially very dangerous!!

Ease (or difficulty) of pulling stumps also depends on the tree type. Many trees like the northern jackpine here has its roots mostly near the surface. I can easily push a 8" jackpine over with the FEL, back up, hook the root ball with my bucket and lift the whole thing out. BUT if I try it on the same size aspen with deeper roots, I can't pull it out with the bucket, not even close. Bigger hardwoods and other deep rooted trees would be proportionally more difficult.

I won't argue the point because I don't have all the facts, but I am also a SMC/ALAMO/RHINO dealer and I don't recall that info. However I do know that KIOTI did change their loader manufactures and that is what caused the loader model #'s to change. Please advise me if any one does have the facts!

Ken, I haven't seen it that much here and as been stated the gauges are running the same. I can take a diesel that might be running a little cool and warm it up. Kind of stuck on how solve all the overheating problems that seem to be designed into some of the other make tractors.

yodaddyo -- If you don't mind me asking -- was this a MFWD tractor? Was it eHydro? I'm wondering because I'm getting very close to buying a MFWD 4310 w/ eHydro, 430 Loader, and R4's. Options are Power Beyond, Dual + Third SCV's, engine heater, iMatch, loaded tires, and chains. Attachments are 59" snowblower and MX5 cutter. The package price I've gotten so far from my dealer is $26,300 (before JD incentives)... That looks to be about 15% off list, but your $25,500 price with backhoe seems a better deal... How much haggling did you have to do with the dealer?

I know next to nothing about Shibaura, but a few questions come to mind. Does it have a model number? How many hours are on it? Has it been stored indoors our out? Does it have a ROPS (roll bar)? After rolling my tractor I wouldn't even consider a CUT without a ROPS and seatbelt, but you may be able to find an aftermarket one.

I don't think you can readily buy a backhoe smaller than 6 or 6.5 feet.

I have seen internet pics of a 4.5 foot hoe that someone custom made but that is too small to do much with.

A dealer in PA has a used B2100 w/179 hrs. FEL, 60" mower with turbo bagging system, and 60" snow blower. I'm unfamiliar with Kubota equipment, but this setup has what I need. Asking $12,500. Appreciate any input on pricing.<br>
