The L-series is heavier then the B-series, larger in size as well as options are different. The GST is a power shift type tractor transmission that works like the larger farm tractors. It does have a power shuttle that is hydraulic and you don't need the clutch to operate for forward and reverse. This type transmission was first introduced to the compact tractor industry another first by Kubota back in the 80's and they are still the only company to offer something like it. The B-series is more manuverable and will go into places the L won't.

Tom, don't forget that in the case of a CUT, the reservoir is also the transmission and rear-end. Since heat, like most else in nature, wants to be in balance with it's surroundings the tendancy is for the TX / Rear-end case to try to heat to the same temp as the TDH fluid is at, this in turn will off course be given off to the atmosphere turning the whole back half of the CUT into an oil cooler.

Hydros actually pull stonger than gears. A clutch will slip long before hydro pumps run out of pressure. All big earthmovers, dozers, etc. use hydrostatic.

According to the TractorSmart web page on BX, 540 RPM's on the PTO is equal to 3068 Engine RPM's.

755 with 341 hours. It bogs down going up even a slight hill using the mower to the point of stalling without a hint of smoke. Downhill runs fine. I thought it might not be getting full fuel flow. Changed fuel filter. Supply pump OK. Good flow to the injection pump. Injection pump and injectors tested at diesel shop. All excellent. Governor appears fine. Spins up to proper speed, no surging. I have both engine and chassis manuals, everything appears to be at spec. One question is the fuel controller on the back of the governor. There is nothing in either manual that says how to adjust it. Anyone know? Could it be a hydraulic flow problem? Seems like low hours for that. Any input to this puzzler is welcome.

I have a copy of a great book that is published by the U.S. Army, 2001. The book is in Adobe Acrobat format (.pdf) and is 174 pages in length. The book is intended to teach new hydraulic technicians all the info they need to know to understand and service hydraulic systems. The file is 1.5 MB's. The KAMA is a design by Worldbest Kama, a consortium of Chinese manufacturers who got together to develope products that would appeal to the world market. The factory that produces the tractor for us is the largest producer of mid size tractors for the domestic market with 60% market share and over 25,000 units per year. I have these on the ground and would invite you to come see. IMO the casting quality and overall workmanship exceeds the more popular Chinese brands sold in the US, the engines are easy starting direct injection and the gearboxes are constant mesh for easier shifting.

Is the 40HP testing requirement based on gross or PTO HP? send me your email address and I can send you some additonal info. A 40HP version of the KM is also available.

That sounds a little high to me. I just bought a 7800 in November and got the FEL and 60" mid mount mower and R-4 tires for $16,900. Are you getting anything else with it? I think the midmount mower is around $2,500 or so. There is a website that will give you a price range, I listed it below.
The 7800 is an awesome machine and I love mine.

I haven't noticed change in tension when my second stage starts to compress but then maybe I just haven't noticed. My thought for a simple fix is that 2" of free play sounds excessive for many tractors. Maybe there's just too much free-play and the clutch isn't releasing.

If that isn't the answer, I'd hesitate to pull start it, chain it to something etc. unless I was certain that the problem was a rusted clutch disk.

I think Mark owned a BX so his memory likely is pretty good. 1800 is on the low side for systems pressures. The designers probably chose to limit the lift capacities for a small light tractor. I've seen some implement manufacturers that spec minimum psi requirements but I don't think I've seen any higher than 1800 so the pressure shouldn't affect purchasing implements. Besides most implements would work at lower pressure since it is loads rather than pumps that develop pressure. It just means that heavier loads will stall the hydraulics.

I can't imagine that extra heat and hydrocarbons do rubber any good but I haven't heard of a problem. I'd just as soon the exhaust go somewhere myself. Maybe one of those 50's 'downdraft extensions' would clamp on the pipe. If there's no support for the pipe except for the manifold mounts, I'd hesitate to hang much weight on the end of the pipe.

FYI, from my (limited) experience, the catalytic radiant propane heaters are odor-free, the blue-flame type (unvented) not completely so. <br>
No problems with smoke detectors with either, so long as the air near the detector is below about 105F :)<br>

I recently purchased a tiller that I am sure is a Yanmar. There are no identifying tags remaining on it. It has a 3 point hitch (original) is 65 inches wide across the front, has a total of 36 tines, and has the trailing wheels for height adjustment. From what I can find, I beleive it might be a RS1400, or one in that series. However, I have heard that the first 2 numbers of the model number are the width. In this case, the cutting width is probably 64 inches, or 1600 mm, which would make it a RS1600, or similar model. Can anyone out there identify this tiller's model number? Thanks.<br>

Simon is correct. No pins to turn the seat. I do the same when I need to move the bx I lift the fel and push the hst.

Yes, the backhoe is very easy to remove. I do recommend however making a couple of dollies to move the backhoe around when it is off of the bx, this also makes it easier to line up the backhoe to put it back on. Good luck!

I have a 2003 TC45D with a NH backhoe. My opinion is that if you use a major brand hoe like Landpride, Woods, New Holland, you are not at risk for any problems. These companies make these tools for many years and have quite a reputation in their equipment. When you start getting into general use equipment, stuff that fits any tractor, from a small, grey-market company, you don't really know what you are getting. My NH hoe is a subframe mount, you can't move the hoe from the mounts without moving the whole tractor. good luck.

To treeman: Makers of these cans use the two colors interchangably. I've seen blue and yellow cans that say both diesel and kerosene.
To TomG: Kerosene is the most refined (cleanest)form of these fuels. no1 and no2 are the same thing except that the no2 has a dye added to it so that trucks can be checked to make sure they are not burning no2 over the road. No2 has no federal or state DOT taxes added to the cost, that's why iot is about 50 cents cheaper per gallon. The dye in no2 is red and causes to fuel to gell at a higher temp than no1 will, so if the machinery is used and stored outdoors at low temps, no1 should be used. No1 is diesel, No2 is home heating oil.

The "Cone" style spreaders are just fine for the salt and stonedust, as long as the stonedust from your area is not to coarse. The chips you are referring to must mean wood chips??? I don't think that will work too well. Now to sand. If you use sand in one of those spreaders, it must be a real fine sand, not "angular" sand like concrete sand. What is reffered to as "sugar" sand, will flow fine, assuming the material is dry and not wet. Any wet sand will bind up causing what is referred to as "tunneling". hope this helps.

I got a front blade..because I have a long, slightly uphill blacktop lane, several hundred feet to the highway, so a back blade and bucket would not do me very well..looking back, or driving over snow to plow it..and going side to side with a bucket..that's too much..The blade will work fine, I am sure. I had the tires loaded with antifreeze.
I will us the FEL for other things, including manure at the barn for the horses. Also am bringing in some shale in the spring to do some grading and so on. I got chains on the rears also for this winter. Thanks.
