Chip- Tell me more about the Kama tractors. Have they been through the Nebraska Tractor Lab. THis is required of all tractors 40HP or larger before they can be sold in Nebraska. I sell Lenar and could use the availability of a larger line of tractors. Let me know how they price out and what their claim-to-fame is. Thanks! Russ

Thanks for the post on the Titan Multi Trac tires. I appreciate knowing how they perform. I do know that they are being offered on the John Deere 4210's I have looked at. I liked them, and when I discovered I could get them on my Kubota 2910, I was pleased; mainly because they are aggressive, with a tread that is over an inch deep, and spaced so that it is in fact gentle to lawn surfaces, but with enough gripping power, in my opinion, to tackle other terrain as well. I think these tires are going to be very popular..when there are more out there to be noticed. I have some soft ground here, and they are just the thing to have, because the regular turfs are too "wimpy" for snow, that is for sure. The industrials were far too severe for me on the lawns, also..So we will see..Thanks for answering. Good luck with that 7800, it's basically the same tractor as mine, with a few less bells and whistles. My wife has some arthritis and show mows some for me, the telescoping and tilt wheel, and the adjustable more comfortable seat helps her, as she is fairly short in stature. Otherwise? It's pretty much the same tractor in my opinion. Thanks again. Best of luck with it.

Before I purchased my new 7800 I had a 7200DT 4X4 with a 60" mid mount mower. I mowed a lot of steep banks with it going crossways and I never once felt it get a little tipsy. As far as going vertical up a hill mowing, I mowed several steep hills such as that and just put it in 4 wheel drive and it climbed right up the hill and never felt like it was going to tip. I was surprised at how well it took steep banks. The rear mount mower would probably be better going vertically on hills but the mid mount mower is better going horizontal. Just remember to be smart when mowing around hills as one bad judgement call could be costly.

I had the same problem and decided to rent a mini excavator
when I need it, Like you said when your all landscaped, it
won't get much use. For 3-5 grand You could hire a machine
and operator for quite a few hours. I have rented the mini's before and they are quicker,reach further,and most have a handy blade on them. Here in maine I can rent a fairly new Cat mini for 175.00 for the wknd. delivered and picked up.How can you beat it?

I have another page going (BX23 vs. b2410 etc) but I have a few questions regarding the BX23.<br>

When you turn the seat around to operate the backhoe do you have to remove more than 2 pins? Also if you are using your back hoe to dig a trench and have to move your tractor repeatedly ,how do you do that with the seat turned in reverse?<br>

On the BX23 I saw it looked like only one of the two hydraulic lines to the backhoe was a quick couple. Did I not see it correctly and if so or if not how big a job is it to take off the backhoe? <br>

I think I am leaning now toward the BX23 whereas this AM I was not. I can't decide and don't want to buy the wrong machine. <br>

I know this post is old, but thought I'd offer a couple of comments. Chinese tractors are not reconditioned in Viet Nam but some of the grays are, (yanmar is a gray). Being Japanese the grays are probably built to closer tolerance and therefore considered to be of higher quality than Chinese tractors (at least when they were new). The Chinese tractors that are becomming so popular, are typically sold new. The importers have access to parts usually directly from the factory. The grays are hindered somewhat in this regard as contracts with various "US Brands" prevent the facotry support of the gray market tractors. I agree with lsheaffer that the quality of reconditioning of grays can be questionable. Also they usually lack customary safety equipment (ROPS and PTO shields, etc.) The advantage the Chinese offer in the same price category is a new tractor with uninhibited availability of spares (usually at very reasonable cost). We looked at selling grey market and decided on the Chinese. Weve had good success so far. As posts from users will show, they are a decent product at a great price. Just my 2 cents!

I bought my 2810 4 years ago with an allied loader for $9000.00 from NH/Ford dealer. All servicing was also done prior to delivery (approx. $500.00 worth). It had 2200 hours, and was mechanically sound, but had sat out in the weather often. I am very pleased with this tractor and use it approximately 100 hours per year.

Thank you for your replys I talked to the long dealer and guess what------------ they are going to pick up my tractor , replace fender, repaint complete tractor,and other work needed-YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The proof will be in the pudding ie; who will pay for pick-up and delivery, how long will they keep my tractor, will they do a good job------ Will keep you informed again thanks!!!

When operating my 2210 in light snow conditions I noticed the left front tire was melting snow while the other tires packed and held snow. The exhaust pipe discharge is directly on this tire. Any long term problems with excessive heat on this tire.<br>

Another good match is Rustoleum's hardhat industrial enamel,
"safety orange". I have used it many times to paint implements ect. I just made a 3pt Reese receiver and painted
it with this spray and it looks great. Cost is about $4.50 for a 15oz can and it covers great.

I thought about the over-running clutch thing when I first read the post but it sort of sounds like the clutch wouldn't work after the tractor was shut down. Most newer tractors with TX driven pto's have an internal over-running clutch but there was a recent discussion here where an internal overrunning clutch failed. There are all sorts of possibilities.

I wonder if the pedal has a feeling of free-play and then tension as the pressure plate is compressed? If it's all free play then the linkage or throw-out bearing fork likely is the problem. If the tractor has a removable splash pan then the clutch can be seen mad maybe the problem too. People do use this type of access and large screwdrivers for breaking frozen clutch disks loose, but I'm with Harvey. If it was working then it's unlikely to be a rusted clutch disk.

With an oversized generator, you do have to be very sure of the loads. People do forget to turn things off or somebody else can turn something on unexpectedly. Brown-outs can overheat electric motors without popping a breaker.

A trick for people who don't have freq meters is to compare the times between an AC clock with a sweep second hand and a battery clock. My VOM has a freq meter section so that would be my alternative. Motors do run hotter at low frequencies and it's good to make sure the frequency is right.

Harvey's case is about the only reason I can see to run a generator that can demand appreciably more than the tractor's HP--and I'd take his deal most any day. Usually bigger generators cost more and the capacity can't really be used. They also put a bit more wear and tear on the pto drive. However, an advantage would be that the generator's continuous rating may be above the tractor's HP. High loads could be run continuously without heating the generator as long as the engine wasn't lugging. Don't know why generators don't have thermo switches but maybe high end ones do.
