Since this came back to the top of the board, I would like to say congrat on the tractor and the good deal. I priced a 4115 W/ FEL and 60" MMM today and was qouted 19,800 w/ tax.

So many decissions to make. Back to the Earlier comment Chief made regarding Rim guard and windshield washer fluid. When I talked with my local JD dealer about a 4115 and ballasting options, he stated that they fill the tires with windshield washer fluid straigh out. No fancy name just plain ole fluid. Figure that is a good option as it is non corrowsive and not toxic. Hey one option I can finally say is decided on.

This may not be related to the FEL at all. It could be related simply to the colder conditions. There is a little valve that controls the speed of the 3PH. On my TC45, it is under the seat. If that valve is closed down it will slow the lift of the 3PH and could cause high pressures and hydraulic bypass. I expect that the hydraulic noise when the relief valve bypasses could be making this noise.

If I remember correctly, it has turtle (slow) and rabbit (fast) markings. Move it toward the faster side and see if that helps.

Did not mean to bring back un fond memories for some and by no means a start of the NCO / O issue. Which in my years no one really went to the O side anyway, all the O's came over to the E or CPO club. Much better entertainment and of course the more, how shall I say Attractive women.

Another great product idea for the Acme Implement Company, a heated snowblower chute, when the chute clogs just flip a switch, a few minutes later the offending clog drips out the bottom.

Then again, maybe a compressed air tank would be better. That way when the chute clogs you could hit the air valve and fire an icey torpedo towards city hall, or maybe that jerk on the snowplow who waits until just AFTER you clean your driveway to drop a big pile of slush across the end of it.

ftcnlc, tell your husband to pump the clutch full up, full down, until just before his leg goes numb from doing it, LOL.

It is just hung up, probably surface rust on the shaft so the plate can't slide fully, repeated operation usually cleans it off.

There is one other possibility, and I hate to even mention it, but from the description it could also be from a worn clutch lining. When the friction material gets worn down there is too much clearance and not enough pressure on the clutch itself, this causes slipping. Talk to a dealer I'm sure they will gladly tell you how to check the free play.

Kubota is one of the few manufacturers who make almost their entire machine themselves, engines and castings included.

They generally only buy small individual components from outside suppliers, things like alternators, brake shoes, clutch, tires, etc.

Things that would not make sense to produce internally form either financial, quality, or an expertise aspect are better out-sourced from the best manufacturers in each field.

I have been doing pretty much my own thing for the past fifteen years. I invent medical devices of various types and build up companies around the inventions. I have also worked as an engineering consultant. I like both types of work, but the engineering consultancy is easier since you don't have to worry about employees.

My current business employs about ten people. Some of those are consultants but most are regular employees. My top priority is to keep the project going followed only shortly behind by ensuring the welfare of my employees. Times are rather lean right now, and I have not taken a paycheck for over six months, although I have made payroll for all of the other employees and paid all the bills during that time.

When I interview potential employees or speak with people that want to start their own business, I generally want to learn more about their personality than anything else. It turns out that if you can handle the income irregularities (both economically and mentally) then you may do well in your own business. I have seen many talented people fail because they ran out of money during a lean time, or could not handle the long times that some companies take to pay.

I have been lucky enough to have some of my inventions and patents become very popular. Johnson and Johnson bought my last company and they made about $100,000,000 in sales just last year on my product. After they bought my company, they wanted me to stick around for a while. But, I could not stand being an employee for a big company, anymore. This says more about my needs than it does about Johnson and Johnson being a good place to work. Working on your own or for yourself has tendency to change you to the core.

Chief, These are similar to those used on big skidders except there would be multiple chokers on the end of the main drag cable. I've been using a chain with a slip hook on one end and it works ok but this would work much better. Plus it's lighter and are easier to detach from the log.

We've got about six inches of snow in northern Wisconsin. Yesterday pulling out one relatively big tree I stalled the Kubota but never spun a tire. Plenty of traction without chains.

Sounds like he needed one of those very early tractors that you controlled with reins, like a team of horses. I saw one of these on a classic tractor show and was amazed, but I can't remember the brand name. The operator would walk behind the tractor and manipulate the reins to drive it. The manufacturer put a seat on the tractor but they figured that few people would want to operate it sitting down. Anyone ever see one of these?

What is a fair price for a used 1998 New Holland 1920? The person is asking $14,800 and includes a finish mower. The tracor has around 250 hours and includes the loader, larger tires and three hydraulic inputs.<br>

Jared Young, if you can't get ahold of an owner's manual; be sure to use a diesel rated oil. (i.e. 15W-40 or SAE30 CH-4 or CI-4 rated oil) The C type rating is for compression ignition engines. I get my oil filters from the Deere dealer for about $5 each, use a good quality oil filter specified for this engines application. (i.e. don't try to cross reference a Fram filter at Walmart) I mark the Date and Hours at the time of oil change on the new filter so I can keep an eye on when the next change is due.

If you do a search for the 4400; you will find some posts from that time frame from people who had purchased them new and any issues they had. I think the biggest issue was the front axle scuff issue with tractors used for turf cutting but my understanding is that Deere replaced these axles on tractors with MMM's.
