Does anyone have any experience with Branson tractors? I've seen a couple of local dealers and don't know much about them. I'm looking for one that would be betwen 30-40 hp.

I always had the notion that most of what we have today, especially in the under 2000 pound class, is an outgrowth of the 'rice paddy' tractors manufactured in Japan and Korea a generation ago.

The web link below goes to Cross Manufacturing. They have a whole raft of hydraulic parts. Apparently Tisco, another hydraulics source doesn't have a web site.

I think that with the low pump flow on those tractors sticking with small diameter cylinders should provide decent speed but not a lot of power. I guess that 1 1/2" cylinders are what's on it now. I would give some thought to the strength of small shafts. Some of the less expensive cylinders may have softer shafts than are there now and might bend under ordinary loads. I'm not sure how shaft strengths could be compared on the basis of published specs. Maybe finding another 3000 with a double-acting loader already on it and seeing what cylinders are used might be good.

I'm not sure I understand the valving idea but guess you guys have it figured out.

cheif i have skidded logs with my walkbehine. Down logs no saw, just move it. I use my standers caster wheels frames to push down limbs all the time. It to much work to move them by hand. The grasshopper has a lot of attachments. Plus the walkers now have a front bucktet attachment.

Thanks,I got about 130 hrs or so after one year,no major problems so far,[knock on my head],time will tell,its got a good solid motor,I now believe,the rest only time will tell,I figured if I could get about five years out of it without any major problems,it would be worth it and then some,just couldn't afford a compoable big three and didn't want to buy somebody elses junk. I welded up a little bracket and bolted it to the ROPS where the factory box mounts. That way I didn't have to drill any holes. Bought a cheap plastic open-top toolbox at Lowes and bolted it to the bracket. This is on a TC29, but may give you some ideas.

Consider a Jinma tractor? From what I have read and comments posted from owners, the Jinma tractor line is a pretty good buy the the dollar spent. This particular model is sold under the "Tractor King" name by Rural King but it looks like a Jinma 254 to me. What you get for $5,999 is NOT a bad deal at all. Worst case, you can haul it to the dump in 10 or 15 years and still be money ahead. Again, from what I have read, they hold up pretty well. Good luck on the tractor search. By the way, Jinma makes a CUT upto 35 or 40 hp. I believe.

I have a 3 pt generator for a 20+ hp size tractor. I found a guy selling a chinese generator heads of all sizes.
I built a 10 KW system with dual 'B' belt drive. It turns at 1800rpm not 3600rpm. I would sell if someone needs it.

I had looked at the 2410 but decided that I didn't really need that since I didn't need to turn that tight. With the hydrostat, I can tighten up mowing around the few things I need to be tight on. I was also concerned with how well that steering system would hold up. I think NH also has that with one of their tractors.

I have been doing endless research on the compacts and I have decided that the B2410 is what I want (more than what I need) I am interested in getting the Bi-Speed steering option and wondered if anyone has experience with this configuration. I have not seen many posts on this subject. Any info will be helpful as I am about to pull the trigger.<br>

I was wondering how the Kubota L185 compares to the BX2200. I used the 2200 because I am familiar with that model. I am looking at an of brand of Kubota, Zen-Noh ZL1801 and the owner states it compares to the Kubota L185. Can anyone help with sorting this out so I can make sure I am buying a<br>
tractor that fits my need.<br>

I have not done a bunch of digging with mine yet as it is fairly new... we are still on the break-in oil at 30 hours.

I have used the 46 to rip out about 10,000 pounds of old concrete sidewalks and I can tell you it has plenty of power. The controls are not as "feathery" as the old BX backhoe but that may be because it is still new and stiff.

After I ripped out the old concrete, I made about 75 feet of shallow excavation for a new sidewalk and the 46 worked well, especially after I learned to run the engine slower when doing fine work such as that.

If you bought it as a package from a dealer he should have known better, and if that is the case maybe you can return it for something that fits.

Rankin makes a series of implements specifically for this class of tractor. Gearmore markets similar or maybe the same products.

Go to rankineqco.com and type 'sub-compact' into the search engine in the upper left corner, then go to the 'series 100' page. The blade you need is there and you will notice it is built a lot closer to the ground.

What HP is the MF 10. My grandfather had a small one with something like 10 hp. It had the blower but was not really powerful enough to run the blower on the hills so we used a blade instead.
I had a fiend that wanted one in KY as he collects tractors.

Tom is absolutely right about box scrapers and hydraulic top links going together. I figure the hydraulic top link triples my productivity when using the box scraper - no getting out of the seat to constantly adjust the blade angle.

One of the most overlooked problems with a trailer stored outside, particularly in snow country, is the deck itself. <br>

Whether it is wood or steel it needs to be protected. Wood will absorb moisture and the freeze/thaw process will significantly shorten it's life. Likewise a steel deck will always have little spaces that water can seep inot, the freeze/thaw cycle will force these apart leaving a place for sand and dirt to collect, this will hold moisture and accelerate the rusting process.<br>

The simplest way to prevent any of this is to make a 2x4" and plywood 'tent' over the deck and drape a tarp over that to keep it reasonably water-proof.<br>

It sounds like a bit of overkill but we started doing it a few years back and there is now a BIG difference between our trailers that are out all winter working and the ones stored out of the weather.<br>

The tarp comes down far enough to cover the tires so thats a bonus, we also back them up onto scraps of pressure-treated 2x8" to keep the tires out of contact with the frozen ground.<br>
