mark , thanks for the reply . please send me the bulletin . i have called jd and emailed them and have no response about this 46 backhoe. how easily can you detach it and use other rear attachments? i dont have alot of use but i also dont want to damage my machine , wonder if there have been problems if jd doesnt get back to me on this ? thanks JF

Thanx for the reply Chief, but drainage isn't practical for me. Some areas I've got are lower than the culverts along the road out front! I found this out when i tried to cut a drainage ditch to the culverts & the water from the road drain back into my property! The only thing i've thought of so far is to bring material in to fill in the areas. If i have to i will, but i thought i'd check with y'all first to see if anyone had an easier (and cheaper) fix.

I get tractor implement and compact equipment magazines. They are printed every other month. I'll renew comapct equip and will not renew the other as it is a waste of time, at least to me.

The YM1610 doesn't have glow plugs, it has a thermostart system. Remove the air intake hose and you can see the thermostart plug down in the intake, turn the key to the left and time how long it takes for the plug to get red, should take 10-15 sec. replace hose and try it out.

Eric, I would be inclined to stick with the more proven track record of Kubota. Don't really know that much about the McCormick GX50. The GX50 looks like a nice tractor and the Yanmar 4TNE88-ELAN is a big plus. Hydro is standard. A heads up comparison would be VERY interesting to see. You may have already seen this info.; is so disreguard.

Just bought a 1997 1320. 72 Rear finish, 16" plow blade rake, roller, sweeper FEL, Hydro, 4wd, 415 hrs turf tires, Outstanding cond. for 10,500. Love It. I was going to buy a b7800, but had too good of deal to pass. It is 20 hp.

The local NH dealer also has CIH he claims he can get the blue cheaper than the red. He supplies the larger CIH as they are different tractors and then the smaller boomers in blue.
Another dealer near me has the McCormick and CIH. Now this should be confusing.

I have definitely learned my lesson on shear bolts. I'm considering using an external slip clutch device in the future as well. The part that they are quoting me has nothing to do with the normal drive train pressure plate, etc. It is the pto clutch assembly which consists of sprag overrun clutch and housing, bearings, etc.

I think the price is relatively good on the 4300. Loading with the 790 can be a problem but it is do able. I would recommend that you look at the larger tractors with the acreage and the useage.

I bought my 790 new in 2000 and it came with the 70 fel.
I love it but i would love the quick attach bucket much more in the 419 loader..
My advise is your spending lot's of $$$ on a tracktor you don't want a loader that is pached on. get a deere. then when you go to sell the unit you have a john deere resale all around

your wheels must be different in the U.S. My Back tire's are not dished at all. were they meet the hub is completly centered in the rim. there is no way you could get a wider stance by reversing them.<br>

I have use a 790 to build my complete acrage. I have never felt the fel to be underpowerd. sometime's when i burrie it into 1/4down lime stome gravel it stuggles but that is heavey. I have a 70 series loader and have found the bucket that it came with a bit small. put it this way, I could not fit anything that was to heavy for the loader to lift into the bucket anyway. If you are useing pallet fork's that might be a different storey.
I feel that i wouldn't want to lift any more weight than the 70 fel can lift with the 790 size of tractor anyway.
If I could do it again however I think I would have spent the money and bought a 990 John Deere. I sometime's could have used the size weight and power. But 99% of the time the 790 is perfect.

Chris, on pg. 538 of the shop manual is the troubleshooting chart and under the sympton: Machine Movement Problem it notes the following:

Hyd. oil low?

Low charge pressure?

Main drive press. relief valve stuck open?

Air in system?

Hydrostatic pump output low?

Internal pump motor damaged?

Forward/Reverse proportional valve malfunction?

The last malfunction sounds like it may be in the area of problems you mention but these other tests and checks must be completed first to verify correct operation of system. I take it that the dealer has done all of this? If not, maybe you may want to run this by them. I am not making any implications about your dealer but sometimes the mechanic looks in the book last. I had to CONSTANTLY get on my guys about this when I was troubleshooting and repairing helicopters and their systems when I was on active duty.

Bottom line is that if your tractor is under warranty, the dealer and John Deere have the responsibility to get it right or replace your tractor. If this has been a lenghty on going ordeal, it might not hurt to ask if the dealer would work out something with John Deere to trade your tractor for another on their lot. If nothing else it will indicate your level of patience wearing thin and motivate them to take another look and think outside the box. Sounds to me like they are trying to work with you and more than likely have looked at all the things I have brought up. Hope this was of some help to you and they figure out what is the problem.

It is a mulching kit that mounts on the MMM. It uses stamped out sheet metal shutes to redirect cuttings through the mower and blades to mulch material. Not worth the price in my opinion. If you get a username and password, you can look it up in the parts data base on JDparts web site.

Wow! Sorry to hear you had such a chinese fire drill getting it running after you got off to such a good start too! I would think that whatever is going on in the rear drive at this point is pretty much out of you hands and would require rebuild or replacement. My old Cub 154 made all kinds of knocking noise from the pto shaft but I had spent so much money in parts to fix it that I just said the heck with it and let her rip. I tightened a few pulley keys up on the shaft but it lasted for 10 years and was going strong when I trader her in. Just out of general purposes; have you checked the oil level in the drives? Has it been replaced anytime recently. I doubt this would make much difference but you never know. Anyhow congratulations on a very successful engine rebuild!

I have a 3130 with a quick attach 6' Curtis blade. Definately get the hydraulic option. Ballast is a must, especially if you are attaching to the FEL. The plow extends beyond what the bucket does by about 2 feet, creating a long lever arm with quite a bit of weight. This can cause a very unstable situation without ballast, wanting to raise your rear tires at times and limiting the traction substantially. I keep my 9 foot hoe on for ballast and am thinking about purchasing a 1/2cy spreader for sand.

The tractors have keys that are by size group today. The L-s take one and the B-s take another. M-s take another one yet.
