LED technology has come along way. It still has a way to go with price and brightness but it's going in the right direction. It's going to be a major breakthru when it becomes cost effective for farm, home and automotive applications.
LEDs use so little power because they are a solid-state device. Very little heat is generated, all power goes to creating light.

Thanks for the clarification.

I had thought that Mark was talking about a tackle block attached to the frame of the tractor, so that the work would happen between the loader and the frame mounted tackle block.

If you are looking for a sub-compact the GC2310 does out spec the BX22 & BX23. You have more digging depth and lift capacity. The B7510 and B21 would probably be overkill if your needs are met by the 2310. The GC2310 is a great tractor.

I noticed on the JD website that availability of 2WD 4210 and 4310 models is now limited to dealer inventory. That probably means they won't be making 2WD versions in those models anymore. Anyone know for sure?

AC, I went through the JD price configurator for a JD MFWD 4310 and it showed the Galaxy tires as a $1200 upgrade over the standard R1s (which are included in the base price).

The nomenclature is a bit fuzzy. I've learned to think of R3s as turf tires too, but JD literature shows R3s and Galaxies as two separate tire options. I learned with a little googling that Galaxy is the manufacturer name (you probably knew that already!)

seen it at the state fair. looked like a good deal. base machine 4410 4wd hydro w/430 loader and 65" box blade for 18,050 added lx5 for 1050 total 19,100 been very happy with it so far.

Thanks for the reminder, Tom, but for a change my CRS didn't fail me this time. When I was at the dealer I remembered the height issue, borrowed a tape measure, and measured the height of a 4310 with the R1s I'm getting. 92 inches, which leaves me 4 inches of clearance getting in the garage. I'm sure glad I specified big garage openings when this house was built. If I had to rely on my memory to fold down the ROPS I know my garage wouldn't be intact for long.

Even a crew cab truck with 4 power windows isn't big enough, or breezy enough for a Pizza Gas-powered Jack.

Though I'm very happy with my kubota and have no plans to replace it, if I were shopping today I would have to give very serious consideration to the new small kioti. It seems to be a real value for a quality machine. A couple other points... With our cold windy winters here in NH I think you would be happier (warmer&drier) with a FEL/ rear blade combo than the blower. the combo would also provide far more utility for close to the same price. If your driveway is paved turf tires without chains will perform best. good luck shopping and have fun with our overpriced New Hampshire tractor dealers

I hope somebody who knows 7100's comments because what is described doesn't sound like a flow control valve. Like Blizzard the ones I know are plastic knobs--often with hare and turtle icons.

Without knowing the tractor I won't speculate much but the part could be several things. It could be an adjustable relief valve so I wouldn't disturb the lock nut position. Getting a manual would be good.

I'm with Harvey. When I have a fitting thing to do I take all the pieces to a shop so I can screw the whole thing together right there. Ports tend to use NPT, fittings could be metric, inches and a lot of British Whitworth was used and maybe still is--real good thread that Whitworth. Seeing it fit together is really the only foolproof way unless all components in the assembly have JD part numbers and the shop is a JD dealer. Of course, it'd be a little awkward to not buy the fitting there if they had one. Shops also have thread gauges if a mystery part pops up.

Jiffy Hitch is a nice system, you put an adapter on each implement it can get expensive if you have a lot of implements. You might want to consider Pat's EASY CHANGE, it puts snap hooks on the lower arms only and allows you to use it with any implement including a PHD + implements with non-standard A frames.

Most areas have a specialty shop fairly close. A dealer or engine rebuilder would likely know one in your area.

The ease, cost and success depend a lot on where the crack is--ones below cylinder level are easier. Ones that involve water jackets may not be feasible to repair. Like Chief, I've heard of some JB weld repairs holding up for several years and brazed in chunks lasting indefinitely. My brother in law didn't have quite so good of luck with some sort of silica stuff he used to repair a cracked head on a gas engine but it did last awhile.

Tractor splitting an tear down seem like too much work for me to want to try an inexpensive patch up and I'd probably look for a shop that has equipment and experience doing that sort of work. A good shop will tell you if it isn't a feasible repair too.

If nobody knows, have you tried the NH site? I seem to recall loader capacities there but maybe not if it isn't a current model.

I'd interpret any ratings there as max and related to the loader frame unless they're specific to a tractor. Some tractors may require ballasting or maybe reduced relief pressure to achieve safe operation at max speced loads and that's probably the question. Specs for a current model of similar weight, wheel-base, ground clearance, weight distribution etc. would give a decent approximation but there's a lot of etc's there. 'How it feels' with a load up high isn't a bad measure but then the operator is taking some risk on himself, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Suppose after all is said, this isn't really very helpful though.

To really make your tractor feel like a dog, burn a lot of fuel so you can get upset and come to your favorite Kubota guy me, and swap! Sounds like you could be very secure and stable but beyond that, I wouldn't do it. Ag tractors go for 110-120lbs per horsepower and they are made to tear up ground. Normally to not tear up ground you need to be around 90 lbs per horsepower max.

Further to Art's comment, loader capacity ratings usually are measured at the bucket pins and a bale would be carried forward of the pins. Reduced capacity is a reason why some people get bucket replacement forks rather than bucket add on ones.

Yes I like that one too. It does sound like everybody has the theory, practical and words together on this one so I'll go off-topic and indulge myself.

Theory is good for coming to an understanding of principles, which can simplify the practical. Without a grasp of principles a person is like a cook that can't cook without a cookbook. Every variation of the same problem requires its own recipe. What we seem to do pretty well here is blend theory and practical.

Well, I tend to get carried away with theory but that's mostly because my Ford doesn't break often enough for me to become really practical. Suppose my time'll come though. Most of my practical came a long time ago and from old cars and motorcycles.

My thought probably is covered elsewhere but electrical components on plastic mounts do have to have a second wire to ground. Most things sold today probably have two wires but some may be intended to ground through their cases to the tractor chassis.

If connection instructions aren't clear for a light that has two leads, testing for continuity to the mounting lugs will show the right connection. With the bulb removed, one lead may have continuity with a mounting lug. That's the ground side and the other lead goes to the battery. Even on plastic mounts, the ground lead should be connected to the chassis. Otherwise the case is hot and it shorts if something conductive touches both the case and chassis. If neither wire has continuity then the case is isolated and this isn't an issue.

In the systems I'm familiar with the usual connection is in just one hose from the loader. The hose from the loader valve port labeled PB goes to the hoe valve inlet and the hoe outlet goes to the other end of the PB hose. This is a PB connection since the hoe return goes from the block on the 3ph so the hoe valve needs to be PB rated. My hoe manual describes a PB connection for the hoe. The risk is if the hoe and 3ph were operated at the same time a hoe valve that wasn't PB rated could be ruined.

There are some routing and fitting issues, and a hose to connect the ends of the PB hose back together when the hoe is dismounted is needed. Many owners can make up hoses that use reusable couplers but it probably wouldn't save much. You might ask a dealer to price a kit that they'd make up rather than a factory kit or get an estimate from a hydraulics shop. It is possible in this type connection to connect the hoe backwards, which would damage the valve and pump. To prevent reversed connections, using different style connectors is good, or at least colour coded tie strips to identify which hoses go together should be used.

If there are already rear remotes a cheap connection is to use a rear valve controlled circuit and bungee cord the valve open. PB hookups are better since flow through the loader valve has losses and erodes valve parts. That's what I do through, but I don't use my hoe regularly. My plastic tie straps have saved the valve for me in this type connection too.
