One of the key elements in determining what year it was manufactured, is whether it is a gear shift or hydrostatic tranny. Given the serial number "63794", could be a 1991 vintage IF it was/is a HST model. Given the serial number "63794", could be a 1979 vintage IF it was/is a gear shift model.

One tell tale indicator, would be to identify the number of studs of the front wheel/hub assembly. If it has 6 studs/lug nuts, most likely is of later variety. If it has 4 studs/lug nuts, it is most likely to be that of the earlier vintage as Kubota integrated the changeover from 4 to 6 stud front assemblies in the early to mid 1980's on the CUT's. Well, I'll simplify what I'm saying a little more. To me a t-fitting with an open leg in a pressure line ahead of a valve would be like having a large leak in the line. Oil would run on the ground and the valve wouldn't work. Connecting a hose from the reservoir to the open leg wouldn't change much. The oil would just leak to the reservoir.

A question is what changes if a valve were installed in the line from the fitting to the reservoir? I don't think much changes because oil flows straight through an open centre valve that isn't operated. There can't be pressure developed without flow restrictions and I don't believe open centres are very restrictive. Around 100 lbs. load is what I've heard. Otherwise the engine would be working against relief valve pressure when everything was idle and the relief valve would be open. That's the way some closed centre systems work.

Two paths that go ultimately to the reservoir through open centre valves would be in parallel and the load would be less than any single path irrespective of whether one valve had a high load path because a control valve was operated. A decent question seems to be: Where are the restrictions that develop pressure if neither valve is operated or even if one is operated?

Additional restrictions to create load would have to be downstream from the valves and on both paths. Another question is what would be connected downstream? Far as I know if anything it usually would be another open centre valve such as the 3ph. To me a path through an open centre valve is little more restrictive than a straight hose and that is little more than an open leak to the ground. Were this not the case, I don't see that diverter valves which switch between 3ph and auxiliary systems would be needed.

Myself, I just don't see where the load comes from in a parallel connection unless control valves in both paths are operated. I'd be happy to see any info that explains so I can see it differently.

I don't know where to look for cases other than a salvage yard or a dealer, and dealer prices are usually extreme. It might be easiest to find a used E-394 and use one or the other as a parts source.

Usually there are specialty welding shops in most areas. They could tell you the feasibility of repairing the cases. It usually takes some specialized equipment and skills to fix many types of cracks, and others just aren't feasible. Since it was repaired once and cracked again, it probably is in an area that receives stress and an ordinary welding job won't last.

The John Deere Quick Attach will not work with Skid Loader Attachments, it's totally different...

There's several system for skid loader type of Quick attach but they can get expensive. Prices ranged from about $800 to nearly $1500 for loader adapter an 3 plates for attachments...

I'm going to attempt attaching the 400 series J. D Quick Attach to my 70 loader... The pins on the 400 series are 1 inch and on the 70 only 3/4, also the 400 Q. A. is wider then the 70's arms but each problem can be fixed with a set of bushings available from the dealer. All the parts needed to make the conversion cost me $260 bucks. Now I need a good welder to make the alterations to the attachments and weld up the bushing in the proper place..

Not sure I'm have the time to make the conversion this fall as winter looks like it's on the way an I'll need to mount the snow plow. The plow is a real bugger to put on an I don't plan to take it off till I'm done with it in the spring...

I'm considering purchasing a small compact tractor in the future. 2WD-17hp-22hp with finish mower & 4' bucket. Can anyone tell me more about yanmar tractors? How dependable are they, are parts hard to find, ETC. Any feedback on other japanese tractor brands is very welcome.<br>

I think you did the right thing with the gauge. It makes me nervous to know that a bad bulb could let me overheat my tractor. They need a "lamp check" like some of their big brothers. I got in my translated YM1500 owners manual from hoyetractor.com (actually from their ebay add but I think its gone now) and it also says that the amber light is for the temp. I found out what a lot of those little things were for that I had been wondering about.

sounds like you got the problem fixed,A hot rod trick for power steering would be making a hose out of areo. stainless braid ,indestructable and flashy and the last hose needed.<br>

Many of the newer tractors have relays in the system. We have one in the process of checking it out as soon as it hits the shop. The customer said he has changed both relays in the system but it still could be the key switch.

I think I would be approach this issue from the point of view that I want a new tractor. How far have you taken this issue up with the dealer? Something is not adding up, what would take 3 months to repair? Why would you accept the tractor back if it was not properly or completeley repaired. I would suggest you speak with the owner and then Long factory rep. expressing you position and what you want and hopfully they will be reasonable and work this out with you. Otherwise I would stop payments on the tractor and be speaking with an attorney. Best to work something out with them that is agreeable to both of you. When attorneys are involved the one who wins then is the attorney. I would like to see more info. on this, something just does not seem right.

Mark, all of my Stihl equipment is designed for 50:1 but this new formula oil mixed according to directions just seems way to thin and not near as oily feeling. It seems like it just tints the gas blue. The older Stihl oil would make the gas dark green and you could feel an oiliness in it much more so than this new stuff. I am just a little leary of it.

I was looking for someone with experience replacing the double clutch assembly on a 1986 Ford 2110 compact tractor. Is this job possible for a DIY'er? Also, do you know of any other place besides Ford/NH to get the parts? They are getting around $1100 for the 3 main parts (disc, double pressure plate assy. and TO bearing) <br>

If the fronts and rears are the same size, it would not matter.

What does skew the equation is the fact that the smaller front tires generally have the same cleat depth as the rears, so they "grow" on hard surfaces and "shrink" on soft surfaces all out of proportion to the rear tires.

So the manufacturer has to pick a surface to regulate the size ratio and in the case of R-1's it makes sense to set them up for mud.

We don't have a lawn per se, but there is clay everywhere on our property. It's always greasy on top when wet but usually there is no problem digging. When it's dry it's slick too - it's weird, sort of a sandy clay if that makes any sense. When it's dry the tires can still spin and dig in deep. I dig stumps out with the loader and digging is never a problem, it's not that hard. The R4s I have certainly have little to no flex to them, even at low 15 lb pressure.

I have 1,200 of paved drive + 75 by 80 parking area. We get 10 to 15 storms a year of 3 to 12+ inches. Flat and hilly sections to 12% grade.

Get wet slushy stuff about 10% of the time. This is for personal use only so I don't want to buy anymore than I absolutely need. Will also use for mowing a few acres of grass.

What tractor and snow equipment would you get for this?

As a Kubota dealer are you aware of this recall Art? What I found was a connection/location problem but all I did was slightly move the plug away from the contact. Still works but perhaps there is a better fix?

Just got a price of $625 from my dealer on a set of Rankin pallet forks that connect directly to the 430 loader quick-attach brackets. A heck of a lot better price than the JD forks. This price jives with what others have been saying about the Rankin forks.

Sorry I have not responded - been away - alot! My original posting was out of mere curiosity rather than actual need, as I have a small hoe now, Woods650. It just happened that a dealer (orange) told me this and I became curious.

Mark, I would still be interested to realize the name of the company out in the P.NW that you mentioned. Anytime that a quality piece is available, it is at least good reference material.

unit5alive, AHA ! So, the dealer was correct in so far as he went (telling me that he thought it was either orange or woods - leaning to orange). I appreciate the update.
