I don't know what features these forks have. If a person is actually moving pallets frequently, 3-piece forks, a swinging carriage and sliding width adjustment are handy. These features might run up the price on models that have them. Guess I could add a backrest as a desirable feature.

For moving pallets, it can be a little tough to hit the notches and get the fork tips to run under the pallet with rigid forks (and then get the pallet off the forks). The notches on pallets may be different widths too. It's handy to be able to tilt loads that may not be banded against a backrest and not have to worry about stuff falling off the back and maybe onto the tractor. For those kinds of needs extra money for extra features may be worth it.

I have Ford 1910 with R1s on it and have been told that R4s will stand up better to the rough rocks here in the Ozarks. Which tires are better for clay, rocks, black dirt, etc.? The tractor is used for general duties on a 100 acres of Ozark hillsides. From landscaping a new house on a hilltop to pulling a hayride for a church group.

The rears are in great shape, and while the fronts are still servicable, the show signs of having been used a lot, decent anount of tread, but torn with small chunks out.

The table on the tech specs page of that site looks like it would answer questions we sometimes hear around here like 'how much fluid to get for particular tires. I guess they gave the weights for water because of different fluids and mixtures people might use so the table is less useful for figuring weight. As AC notes for CACL, it is the weight of water plus the weight of CACL used.

While I was at the site I went into the UDT/Super UDT page, because that was a debate that sometimes raged around here. There is a low temp flow comparison table I found curious. The table compared flow rates by time pumped for oil at minus 30C. UDT starts off with higher flows as should be expected but flows after 30-minutes end up the same. The only thing I can figure is that the oil must be warming during the time it is pumped. The UDT flows really are pretty low in the early minutes, which probably is the reason I've heard that some people curl their buckets back and hold the relief valve open for a few minutes to help warm the oil. Most likely they are owners who have HST's.

134D is pretty universal stuff and many box store oils meet the same specs but I'd check what is recommended. I use NH F200 in my Ford, which is a multi-season version of 134D and recommended by my dealer for the cold winters here.

Many of the cottages and even big decks around here are built on sonnotubes. By code they go below frost and are wrapped with frost barrier to minimize frost heave. They work great but for some reason aren't approved for residential construction. I think the framing may be a little different than for a pole barn though. The tubes also can be put on concrete pads to support more load than a pole end.

If it's a sizable barn, the hoe may be a good idea. When I bought my 12" auger one dealer said that he just had 14" augers in stock. Farmers preferred 14" ones for building pole barns. The bigger hole allows more room to plumb up the poles. Corner staking isn't always right on nor are markers. The auger tip doesn't always start right on a marker and the holes don't always go straight down. Don't think it would be a good time to have poles in the holes and braces tacked up and then find that several holes had to be shaved to get things plumbed and squared. Besides, then you can put 14" flat rocks on the bottom.

I bought a B2710 new last year and put a used Woods 7500 on it that I found for 3K. I purchased a subframe from my local Kubota dealer which is designed for the 2710. To keep the hydraulics separate from the tractor hyd I hooked a rear PTO pump to a reservoir that I mounted to the subframe. It works great...Only way to go...

I am sizing tires for my L2850GST with worn turfs. Called my local dealer to get front/rear gear ratios. This may be a help to others out there: L2850GST w/original ag tires 1.566:1 ratio L2850 w/original turfs 1.644:1. Found that goodyear makes a "Super Traction Radial" 12.7x20 with size the same as my turfs,although expensive ($383 per tire). Firestone makes a front tire with the right rolling diameter for an aproximate 2% slip on the front tire. Please give feedback if this is an appropriate calculation. I really have not had nothing but Fords. except for my latest Dodge. For work trucks it is hard to get any truck without carpet etc.

One of the toughest trucks were the early 70's Dodge. A friend had one in the north with the slant 6, club cab and long bed. He was a gravel truck contractor so the thing carried a 150 gallon diesel tank in the back all the time. He constructed logging roads in the west coast so it was up and down mountains its whole life on the worst roads. He had bought it with the idea of converting it to a diesel after the gas engine dropped out as the Ford tractor diesel would drop in. Last I saw it it was still trucking with near 300K on the clock could not kill the slant 6.

Man, I'll tell you what! That 72" mmm on the 4410 makes one heck of a leaf mulcher! Did the entire front yard on no time. That thing just eats up piles of leaves and shreads them up nice and spits 'em out about 10 ft. A LOT easier and FASTER than with the backpack leaf blower.

My front and rear facing work lights are mounted to the ROPS. I have pics of the front facing in my profile pics. I got the lights for $38. They come in a complete kit. The biggest part of the fun is snaking the wires through the ROPS which is not all that bad you you use a coat hanger or clothes line wire. I fabbed up some pig tail "Y" adapters for the rear facing lights which is what you may have to do in your case. Art can tell you better than I can as what light kits Kubota offers.

I can't argue with Kubota quality, but I really didn't care for the ergonomics of the hydro L-series at all. The big C-shaped treadle pedal seemed oversized and awkward to use, the brakes are on the same side as the hydro pedal, and the joystick seemed to be in the wrong place. To ME it just didn't seem right. Others here obviously disagree, and everyone should go with what they like. Some folks who have owned both say you get used to it either way so in the long run it probably doesn't matter much one way or the other.

Been there done that with Deere. Also took my breath away.
I mounted additional arms like those on my Massey. I drilled the plate below and added an additional pin and then added another arm.

Although the JD quick-attach loader system is a model of simplicity, robustness and convenience I don't think it will accept universal skid-steer attachments. At least my 430 loader won't. I wish it did but don't care all that much that it doesn't.
