The engines are upgraded VW and Porsche style engines and use a beefed up version of their designs. There are lots of aftermarket racing and special parts used. For example, a standard VW 4 cylinder engine runs about 1600 cc and when we are done with them they run 2108 cc and produce a lot more torque and HP. Some are carbureted and some are injected.

I will have to look at the pilot bearing. I don't recall how that is implemented...exactly.

I live in the middle of Washington state. I can't seem to make up my mind if I want to trade the 955 for a 4310, it seems like the 4310 is quite a bit larger tractor in size but I like a lot of the new features it has to offer.

Art, I think I'm missing something here. I've never seen a 3pth splitter that had a reservoir, or one that was not hooked up by quick-disconnect lines.

That being the case how can condensation get into the system, it is sealed until the lines are connected at which point it is only connected to the tractor's hyd. system.

On the hydraulic lever, When driving a tractor using the loader, is your hand more likely to be by your right leg or on the steering wheel? I like it near the steering wheel.

I have the 790 and the 70 series loader. Bought it new in 2001 and I don't think the 419 loader was out at that time.(At least not in Canada) I love the 70 loader but I want to get a fork lift attachment and a few differnt buckets for snow and dirt and gravel. The 419 loader has the quick attach system that is universal to all skid steer attachments I think? (this would make it handy to rent attachments) I dont want to buy a hole new loader but I would love to now if there is a kit availible to convert the 70 loader to have a quck attach style bucket that would match the 419

I've never heard of the Kunow name, but the FS-254 means it is from China, built by FengShou, 25 hp MFWD tractor.

FYI,

TYM, Scorpion and the former Millennium tractors are all one and the same. They are built in South Korea by Tong Yang Moolsan.

Mahindra is an Indian company (from India). They sell their own tractors, as well as the 10-series which is built by Tong Yang, and the new 15-series built by Mitsubishi. The original Mahindra's were an International Harvester design.

Scooter, Sonotube I think is what it's called, the state uses it on most all jobs works great when dug by a backhoe, just fill with concrete. If you knew ahead the fellows with the truck augers can be reasonable on an off day. One other point that I forgot would be the size of the auger gear box, many for the smaller tractors are limited to 9" auger diameter. I have had customers put on larger as all the drive shafts are about the same either round or hex shaft drive.

I was at Byrd Tractor in Manassas, VA yesterday and there were two BX23's on their lot. Didn't ask if they were sold already. A few differences but appeared mostly to be cosmetic but didn't have a chance to look closely so could be way wrong!

Just don't use anti-icing stuff that contains methanol. I believe that leads to new injectors pretty fast.

The link below goes to an article (.5M Acrobat) that describes some problems in Northern Climates. The problem is as much moisture from condensation as energy efficiency. Modern building techniques here go to a lot of trouble to ensure an intact barrier.

What can happen is that moisture still goes through some types of ceiling material or seams, and the air is warmer than the outside. It is trapped under vapour barrier but will migrate around and exit through any opening that isn't lower than the barrier. One problem is if it percolates through insulation it cools, moisture condenses in the insulation, rots wood structural members etc. I don't imagine there is this type problem in your area but that's what I was thinking of. What I am familiar with is intact barrier with wide overlap of the seams with insulation on top, and the edges are tucked around structures at the ends so the barrier goes down. Murf mentioned spray on barrier, which I think is the modern preferred method. But I'm just blabbing and it's easy for a person to sound like they know more than they do.

It's curious to note that the same government agency that provides the article had an energy efficiency grant program for older homes during the late 70's. The program subsidized contractors who did things like blow cellulose insulation into flat roof structures and put UF foam into wall cavities--on structures that lacked vapour barriers. Well, the victims of that program gassed themselves inside their houses; had their rafters rot and their property values crash to below 'handymans' specials.' Some program!
