I WORK FOR A JD DEALER AND WE USE WINDSHIELD WASHER FLUID IN THE REAR TIRES ON L&G TRACTORS WHEN USING SNOW BLOWERS AND HAVE HAD GOOD LUCK WITH IT. IT WEIGHTS ABOUT 8 LBS A GALLON AND IS FAIRLY CHEAP. TO PUT IT IN JUST LAY THE TIRE ON ITS SIDE AND BREAK THE BEAD DOWN ON ONE SIDE AND POUR IT IN.

Theres a local company up here that has a neat slant on home building, the houses are built in a factory in pieces small enough to be trucked down the road then bolted together on site.

The really different part about it though is that they build the house inside-out sort of, after the wall is framed the first thing they put on is the drywall, then they put in all the windows and electrical, from the outside, they they use a sprayed on vapour barrier, then they put in the insulation, then they put on the housewrap and finally the outer skin.

Apparently by doing it this way the structure is VERY well sealed since there are no perforations in the vapour barrier. Also, since the wood framing is on the inside of the vapour barrier it tends to swell and shrink less seasonally then if it was not sealed in.

I'll bet it could be rewired into a really nifty welder, of course I'm not sure you could lift the rod necessary, let alone position the steel that thick.

Seriously though, did you get a heat exchanger / scavenger on it as well Billy? It is great when you lose power in the winter.

I am sure that they have made improvements in the area that blacked out. But, improving one area has the tendency to shift damage to the next weakest point. There are still plenty of problems as we recently saw with the cascading blackout a few weeks ago.

So Quebec took a hit in 89 and this year it could have been Montana, who knows? I hear about these things because of my ham radio work, but this was something to be concerned about. We got lucky this time. I think that the last of the CME cloud is past earth by now and there has been little damage.

If the flywheel is not pinned or keyed to the crankshaft, then the bolts are cyclicly loaded with every power stroke.

My racing engines have eight dowel pins securing the flywheel from rotating against the crank, but sometimes even those eight dowel pins get elongated due to the variable torque (and maybe because of trying to squeeze an extra couple HP out of them). The heads on the aircooled engines are held on with studs that are reduced in the center for the reasons that I mentioned earlier. They are subjected to a lot of cyclic loading because they hold a sandwich of aluminum parts together with a steel rod.

I am planning to purchase either a BX22 or TC24D tractor. I like the BX22 because of price. I plan on building a pole barn and adding a deck on my house which requires 42"-46" deep holes for footings. Will the BX22 & TC24D handle a 12" dia PHD that will go to that depth? I think the TC24D is taller and looks like will have no problems but the BX22 is shorter. Any imput would be helpful.<br>

Thanks, Murf. If there's one thing I hate it is CHEAP equipment. I don't mean inexpensive, I mean poorly made and throwaway tools or tools that do damage in the process of doing a job. I'm pricing some Timberwolf splitters now. The Harbor Freight unit Chief provided a link for may be OK but I'm a bit biased against the low-end B&S small engines. A few weeks ago there was an ebay auction for a brand new Speeco splitter by a dealer an hour south of me who was going out of business. It went for around $700 and I'm kicking myself now for not bidding on it. Even at $900 it would have been a good price for a brand new high quality unit that I wouldn't have had to ship.

Bob, I hope that you are aware that if you change only the FRONT wheels you must either, a) get new tires that have exactly the same circumference as the industrials, or b) run the tractor in 2WD ONLY while those mismatched tires are on the machine.

There is a ratio between the front & back tires that must be maintained or damage to the drivetrain will result.

I'm looking at grey market tractors and like the size/weight/power of the Hinomoto. One importer suggested I stay away from Hinomoto because they are not sturdy enough to run a front end loader. He said the frame isn't built to withstand the front-to-back torsion a loader puts on it, and the front axles aren't beefy enough. <br>
Has anyone else found this to be true?<br>

I have a 2210 with a 455 two stage blower ,51" broom 54" blade.I also have a befco tiller,agrimetal bm 200 3 pt leaf blower and a john deere 31 post hole digger with a 9" auger.They all work fine with this tractor.The post hole digger was not reccomended by my dealer, but for the 100.00 dollars i shelled out for it i gave it a try.There is a bm kit number for the snowblower.The kit makes it so the hydraulic lines can be mounted on the otherside of the tractor.You have to drill a hole on the opposite side of where the lines come out now.There is a bm kit to attach the quick hitch from the x series too.

I guess that I have just had better luck. I have a 92 GMC K2500 that keeps working hard. It has the 350 gas V8.

I don't know how much a couple of pallets of shingles weighs, but I have had LOTS of metal in the back of my truck. It does not take a lot of sheet and formed steel to weigh well over a ton. I suspect that I may have had 3000 or more in it from time to time. There have certainly been times where there was little or no rear suspension travel left.

The truck has been to Baja Mexico to the races twice and has always been reliable. The AC is not working on it now, but I have been having trouble with rodents and coyotes lately getting into it, so I suspect that I will find a chewed wire. The truck looks rough, but it runs fine. I don't know what I would buy if I needed to replace it.

You need to check the numbers to make sure. Your welding supply store should be able to tell you. Propane cutting is not that common for consumer systems in this area. Most cutting torches and tips sold with consumer systems are for acetylene.

I believe on my old toyota that the only brake warning light was for fluid level.

The only other brake warning system that I have seen involves a sensor to measure the relative displacements between independent front and rear coaxial master cylinders. That system will actually tell you if there is more fluid being sent to the front. (indicating worn pads or shoes) This is not a new system, but you can tell if your Toyota has it if there is a switch element about half way down the master cylinder body.

Either one of these systems might actuate on hard braking.

You are absolutely correct about the spacer bar. The MMM lift mechanism will slip-off the left-hand arm without the bar to hold the 3PTH arms apart. My 2210 came with a rod between the arms, with a couple of pins at each side. I just assumed it was something that was included as part of the MMM installation.

You can make these "older"lights much better buy rewiring them with 16 gauge wire and a 20 amp relay.The difference in light out put is amazing,you can see with them if you rewire them.

I live in the Missouri Ozarks so believe me when I tell you we grow the best rocks in the country.... I have a nice size garden and Have never had any problems tilling it each year just take it slow and you should not have any problems either. I have used the same tiller(TROY_BILT) for 20 years and have never broke anything.. So good luck

I am with Art on this one, you need to get the gauge wheels to keep from ripping out the lawn. I have a power dethacher, if stop it will ripped out the lawn while you wait, (wait is 2-5 seconds. I have a friend with a Grasshopper 928d with a broom for detaching, he couldn't get a detacher that was at least 5 foot wide. Then with his other 928d collects the thach with the vac unit.
