Once you get it all painted up a pretty, take a picture of it because that is as good as it is ever going to look.<br>

I didn't have my new 4115 home for even an hour before I put a ding in the hood. But it is my third tractor and I knew it was coming sooner or later.

Last time I did one (on a gas engine) there was a lot of prying, puncturing and a few bad words. It came out in pieces but it did come out.

They are much easier to install than they are to remove.

Might actually be a bit easier on a tractor because of the removable access panels on the engine.

I would start with a sharpened flat screwdriver to punch a keyhole to pry with later. If it starts to recede into the block you may have to resort to a drill and maybe a big self tapping sheet metal screw that you can then use to extract the plug.

I think after you recover from the sticker shock of oak, you may want to go with the pine. Oak is much strong but also much heavier and has a tendency (in my experience)to warp with much more strength in the warping than the pine. I tried using oak to replace some mahogany in my Boston Whaler from a local saw mill. As the wood dried it really changed shape inspite of my best efforts to keep it lin seed oiled and flat. This may not be an issue in your case. Unless you can get a super deal on oak I would use what is readily and economically available. If it is painted well and the soil around it properly treated for termites; it should last a long time.

From a low of 1750 for a bare tractor first year out to a high of 3850 for the last year. Throw another 500 for the deck on to it and away you go. These are trade in values not retail so go from there and you could be looking at a $5000. retail.

I'm planning on buying a JD 4115 with FEL, R4 tires and a frontier economy 60" rear discharge mower w/mulching kit. Does anyone have a similiar combination? I'm hoping I can mulch oak leaves in the fall so I don't have to pick them up. Any comments would be appreciated.

My gut feeling is that it is priced to high also. I called last night and talked to the guy and it's got 2100 hrs on it and that seems like a lot for a 6 year old tractor. So I will keep looking. Thanks!

Ken, your right!!! It often takes two models before manufacturers get it right by me but the Faces in Kubota have been changing and it is very positive for totally overcoming there old haunts. I feel they are headed in a good way with a lot of positives. I can understand for there designated market that a tach is a small issue. I have none on my local tractors and when talking with a fellow who thought it would be nice he told me he didn't think it was that nice when I told him the price. We all have different values and priorities!!

It's a tough call and it may be that you don't quite have confidence in the dealer. Dealers are good at matching tractors to needs and budgets, which is what they do and why they are worth the price. You do have to be sure that you don't give a dealer a one-sided view of what the tractor will be doing. For example, if there is fieldwork but no particular need to get it done fast plus a bunch of smaller maintenance jobs then the dealer may have recommended something different. If the dealer knows the budget was flexible then there may have been a different recommendation.

A good recommendation would depend on exactly what working the wood and farming actually means. If it means skidding big logs and trying to get haying done before rain than a big tractor would be good. If it means cleanup or food plots and maybe tilling a big garden then maybe smaller will do other work better. Features have to have a use to be interesting. For general work, mid-pto's are used for MMM's and sometimes front snow blowers. If there's finish mowing a big tractor might be a liability so there may not be a need for a mid-pto on a big tractor. If there's lots of loader work, HST is very good or some type of syncro'd gears design is highly desirable. If you save some budget on tractor size, there may be more left over for implements, and the implements for it are less expensive. More implements keeps most any tractor busier.

Kiln dried in NY is seling for about $5.00 a foot and they normally charge about a $1.00 a foot to dry. Take hauling and everything else into fact and I think $3.00 a foot is about right if it is good wood. I bet the fellow who sawed it could tell you.

Cutter, Dave, I got boxes in yesterday, big boxes too!! Have I got work ahead of me. Was looking at your posts on E-bay and for the money depending on what you are doing those are good numbers on thse carts for what they are. I'm going to be there with funds when done and I'm out the labor. The only difference is I know what I'm doing(excuse me) can see what I'm doing.

Many of the atatachments from the Deere lawn mowers will fit onto the 2210 series tractors. The same as the X series will also do this. To take down a 60' alder tree with your 2210 is quite a feat.

The driver should know how much he carried. Tandem axle dump loads are here are around 15 yards. It depends on how the driver loads it. I think you can put more than 15 yards in them but top-cover requirements cut down on the size of loads.

We pay by the load rather than yard here so I tend to think in terms of loads rather than yards. If I wanted to estimate a pile, I'd probably figure the volume of a cone with the top chopped off.

I've experienced this sort of problem occasionally but not for some time now. Dennis could say if JAVA is used on the site and which editions are compatible. The JAVA that came with an older browser could be the problem. High browser security settings or third-party security software could do it as well.

After a charger has been on it awhile, I'd run a battery capacity test with a hydrometer. One or more cells probably won't test good and that's a sure sign a new battery is needed. If the battery tests OK I'd clean all terminals including the chassis end of the ground cable.

I run a conventional automotive battery in my Ford but there can be venting problems for some tractors. Diesels take big healthy batteries and clean connections to spin the engine fast enough to start them. Other than a factory replacement, I'd look for one with the highest amp hours and cold cranking amps that will fit in the compartment. My 24 pto hp Ford is speced for a 75AH/775CCA battery. The replacement has 75 AH and about 1000 CCA's. Larger engines could use bigger batteries.

If a new battery is installed, I'd keep track of the charge on it for awhile to make sure the charging system is OK. You might measure if there's appreciable drain on the battery when the engine and switch are off. Batteries that are never fully charges or are fully discharged frequently don't last long.

For starting: Put everything in neutral, crack the throttle, preheat it and crank it. Compression releases can be useful for cold weather starts. Release the compression, crank it until the starter motor comes up to max speed and then turn the turn on the compression. The starter spins faster with the compression off and the extra inertia will kick the engine through a few compression strokes a bit faster.
