My purpose for a K and N was for the ability to wash over and over and not have ever have to replace it, not realy for any performace It has been very dry this summer here in Michigan and my filter is always dirty. If I had a K and N I would simply be washing it out.

Murf, yeah the price really makes it attractive. I'd like to see a photo of that ice fishing hook up. I cant however start thinking about SNOW !!!!! yikes, you just got me dreamin about Bahama Mamas :) I even dusted the bottle of Nassau Royal and got the overproof rum down. Is that the Palm trees movin or is it just me ??? lol. Dave

It's easy for me to spend your money, but yes I would recommend replacement. People may throw stones at me for saying this, but I generally ignore the manufacturer tire pressure recommendations. If I am unsure about which pressure is best for any particular application I start with the maximum sidewall pressure. If the ride causes the fillings to fall out or your teeth you can back it off some, but keep it high. As you drive use a treadwear gauge every month or two to make sure they're wearing evenly. If they wear too much in the middle you can back off the pressure a few lbs, or if they wear too much on the edges you should bump it up even more.<br>

As you indicated, manufacturers often specify a low tire pressure to give a smooth ride but that doesn't maximize tread life. I believe one factor in the Ford/Firestone Explorer tire fiasco was that Ford had specified too low a pressure. Low pressures increase heat build-up which leads to tread separation.<br>

BTW, Michelin makes a fine tire but I discovered from my years in the tire shop that they seem to use less rubber per tire than nearly any other manufacturer. The inner liner of their tires is VERY thin - you need to be very careful when patching a michelin from the inside. This sounds bad, but less mass means cooler running and excess heat really shortens the life of a tire. For my money, though, on any vehicle which is going to see a hard off-road life or spend a lot of time on gravel roads I'd rather have MASS.<br>

Thank you for taking the time Art !! I will try it both ways(will take me a few weeks to resolve)
and try to update those who are interested. I now dont mind experimenting, and it could help others overall.
They are real nice tires, make the machine feel bigger, and it adds cutting height as well. No regrets regardless of what happens with room for chains...

I agree that this sounds mighty fishy. I doubt that any new oil would be black unless they had some old ARCO graphite oil in stock that they were trying to get rid of.

Like Mark said, an oil analysis would be useful.

Did they say what they wanted to do for $800?

If nothing else, get a second opinion on the repair.

For what it's worth, I've been participating in a couple of tractor forums for the better part of a year and can't recall a single instance of somebody complaining about mechanical problems with SS.

Is the line connecting to the oil cooler metal? Maybe it could be shortened and a piece of high-temp rubber hose used to isolate the vibration between the line and cooler. And/Or maybe cooler vibration could be minimized a bit by mounting it with rubber dampers.

I do not have a mule, but your question interested me. I took a quick look at Kawasaki's website. I will put a link below. I did not find anything relating to roll over protection, although the cab frames do look substantial.

Remember that for roll over protection, you not only need the roll bar, but you need a restraint system like a seatbelt or other harness.

I will certainly echo Marks sentiment on the FEL. When I bought the 2210 my anticipated primary need was tilling. I would guess now I till less than 10% of my useage. I did just not want to kick out the $$$$ for the FEL. Now I guess I use the FEL over 80% of my use. In fact I use it so much I am planning on getting rid of the 2210 for a 4115. I did all of my land scapeing myself. Unfortuneately it was with a wheel barrow. I had to add 30 yards of top soil to one side of the house alone. That was a Lot of butt bustin work and it makes laugh to look back and think if I had just had the tractor ! LOL. In my neghborhood the average home has a lot of $$$ invested in landscapeing. I know I could have saved enough $ to pay for the entire tractor on that project alone over the cost of paying some one else to do it. Dave

I don't know of or use any forums, but I do access web email accounts through the PDA and often make short responses. That is a similar mechanism, although not publicly displayed.

I do not use my phone for email, although I am looking at it for the same purpose. It is not difficult to tap out a small message.

I'm replacing the sills on a small P&B barn. The barn has to be leveled and some new foundation work done.<br>

Currently the structure sits on the original plinth stones which over time have settled into the earth. One corner of the barn has rotted down 5 inches past the 8 inch sill for a total of 13 inches down.<br>

My questions are as follows:<br>

1) What is the best proceedure here? My gut is to jack and level to 2 inches above final grade and then put in the foundation pilings followed by the sills.<br>
<br>
2) How do I keep this building from racking out of square while jacking. Not to infer that it's square now but I hope to square it in the process.<br>

I will send you a test URL. This is definitely for the TP addict like I am. It takes very few bytes of those costly ATT gprs usage bytes, I get 4,000,000k (4MB) a month for $12. a typical access to TractorPointPDA loading the list of last 10 messages and reading 5 or so long ones uses about 20k.

Loading the regular TractorPoint on a PDA uses 10 to 20 X the amount above and is hopeless, expensive and hard to use, doenot fit on screen.

If you look at TractorPointPDA let me know if it fits on your device without scrolling, what device you are using and OS version.

I am using Pocket PC 2003.

In our area it seems that they bring the 4500 to 6500 in the two wheel drive version. Haven't seen the four wheel drive and I believe it might have been hydraulic.

I just pruchased a Yanmar 1500 tractor at an auction and looking for a manuel. I dont even know the year or model as everything on the tractor is in Japaneese. How can I tell. The Bill of Sale is no help. Can anyone help????<br>

Tractors dealers like small town car dealers traditionally did not need to compete very much if someone needed equipment they could not go very far. People looking for service needed to look only in the local area, therefore they could charge more and not compete out side there local.
