Gary, you are Right. A 5' will be perfect for you. Most people want to over load their cutter, which I can understand but you seem to know what is going on. Go for it, you want be disappointed.

Front PTO's are usually used for FEL pumps if the FEL has its own pump. Most FEL's hook up to the existing system though.

Does any one know what glow plug you can use? The ones in it are marked NGK 9462 but I can not fine a cross reference or the plug.

It varies by the manufacturer, as Mark noted, but most now use the electronic type of hours meter instead of the clock mechanism style which was geared off the tachometer style which logs hours based on engine turns, as Art stated.

The mechanical version is based on the concept that an 'hour' was equal to 129,000 revolutions of the engine, being 60 minutes at 2150 rpm, the most common pto speed. This was, IMHO, a much better judge of age, since time putting around, or idling even, is definitely not the same as tilling or heavy bush-hogging for instance.

The main problem with the electronic type is the ease with which they can be defeated or tampered with. A 'big 3' dealer near here was stripped of his dealership recently by the factory after they learned he was unplugging the hours meter then placing them in his rental fleet, at year-end he would then refurbish them and sell them as 'demo units' with only a few hours showing, apparently the cost of refurbishing was way below the depreciation.

Likewise, I met a mechanic from my dealer's place at a local auction last fall, he warned me off of some 'low hour' imported units in the sale, he told me the electronic hour meters had been run forward past zero and stopped at reasonably low hour levels. When I told the auctioneer of the situation, he replied "Prove it!", they sold for very nearly retail values.

I bought A 3010dt with a FEL last year and it works well for me. I use a 72" tiller and 5ft bush hog and wanted the Independent PTo and the one or two extra HP at the PTO.

The HST at that time was only Live PTO. I didn't really want the HST and thought the GST would be best for me, but the local dealers advised against the GST. They implied that there would be more repairs. I think many operators may be too agressive shifting the GST, which tends to be jerky at higher speeds. The clutching helps smooth out those jerks with the DT. I didn't really see that much difference in the GST and DT during test drives.

The HST would be better for those doing a lot of FEL work. I have learned to use the FEL without riding the clutch. I probably go slower than those with the HST would do. Also, the HST is easier to use on hills. Changing Directions on a hill with the DT takes some care.

I like being able to put the tractor in a gear and knowing exactly what speed it will be going when doing PTO work, which is what you get with the DT.

I just bought a B7800 and had the same questions. I called Kubota and they gave me the Kubota part numbers for oil, fuel, transmission, and hydraulic filters. There was no number for air filter. I got that by looking up a Fram replacement p/n.

Then I went to the Wix, NAPA, Purolator and Fram website and all were able to crossover the Kubota number to their version. No guarantees on performance, however, when you use other than Kubota originals (they say).

Sales have been outstanding on those units and they are behind, as we need more than we ordered as sales have been better than expected and they don't have them. We have had to get three from other dealers that have also been sold. They will get them for you as sold units are delivered to dealers before non-sold units.

I spent part of Sun afternoon looking at new Century tractors and just got off the phone with Peter, the tech manager at American Jawa (Century). I thought the board might like to hear these points:<br>

1. The tractors are mechanically identical. It's just that there are two importers.<br>
2. Century and Branson have a good relationship and will swap parts if necessary in an emergency situation to keep the customer going.<br>
3. The peripherals are all different. Peter likes Century's loader, which is OEM'd from one of Zetor's suppliers in the Czech republic. From what I saw, it is one massive loader and very heavily built for a 30 HP tractor. It is a full frame loader. I really liked it. Century's backhoe is OEM'd from Ameriquip here in the states.<br>
Peter said that Branson's loader is OEM'd in Korea and is a bit lighter built, although still a solid unit and several cuts above what he referred to "Canadian cheapo loaders".<br>
4. Kukje (Century/Branson) is the largest tractor manufacturer in Korea - bigger than Daedong (Kioti).<br>
5. Peter has examined and tested all three of the Korean tractors coming into the US: Century/Branson, Kioti and LongAgri. In his opinion, none are a bad value for the money and all are well built. He said that warranty claims on Century have been virtually nil. He only cautions buyers to avoid bargain basement aftermarket loaders or hoes.

Actually, TomG, we still do have the outhouses, mostly set behind barns and under apple trees and the like. When we need to move them, we get the new pit dug, then corral a few neighbors and move the house. I guess this was the initial or debut of what we know today as the porti-torti.

At the lake where my house is, there are many camps and cottages with the exact situations as you described TomG.
My house sits on land that once accomodated a hotel and dining hall at the lake. The septic tank, a whopper of 13.5 thousand gallon tank, sits in an adjacent lot across the town road. When I wanted to put in my own personal septic system, with a 1000 gal. tank, I was told that my clearances would be marginal at best. I have well over 100' in any given direction, not to mention clearance distance from the lake itself is some 200'.
The primary concern was the distance between the well and the proposed septic site. Still outside of the minimum distance requirements.

Last week, a well drill rig showed up at a neighboring camp. Somehow, the owner received permission to have a well drilled, within a 25' distance from three different leach fields and septic tanks located in a tringular configuration where the new well is about in the middle.

GO FIGURE! Though the design of a functioning leach field, is to supply potable water at the exit point, I certainly won't be drinking there water any time soon.

I have been installing septic systems, drainage systems, etc for many years, for many people, without problems. When I want to put one in for myself and process the papers, I am told I can't, yet the guy up the road can get away with these fiasco of a well. GO FIGURE!

A few inches makes a huge difference in center of gravity and stability. Front end loaders do affect this as well. Particulary traveling with the bucket raised any significant distance above the ground is a saftey no-no.

Almost anything is possible, but adapting a MMM for 3ph use doesn't seem realistic. The best choice probably is to try and sell it or swap aor trade it in for a 3ph mower but a 3ph mower probably won't do as good a job of finish mowing as a MMM.

A few manufacturers do make compatible MMM's and loaders. You might check with a dealer to see if anything is available and then try to trade in the MMM on a different MMM. The price of orange implements or any other tractor colour may not be very agreeable though.

Quite a few people do the loader/MMM swap thing so maybe it's not too bad a job. Since you already have the MMM, maybe there's a loader that's especially easy to take on and off.

Thanks for the info, I will give the dealer a call. I am a salesmanager at a busy auto dealer and the rebate is either to the dealer or the customer. There is no in between. Now this may different in the tractor business. It would be nice to grab a $400 rebate considering from whats on this board for pricing I got raped. I paid $14,000 with a 62 inch deck and loader, tax included.

This is probably a day late. It sounds like you have replaceable couplers. Replaceable couplers have hex sockets that go over the hose end while permanent couplers have a round ferrule that is crimped on the hose end. Replaceable couplers can be replaced with a vice, wrench and oil can. However, there are different couplers for high and medium pressure hose and they don't mix.

High-pressure couplers have a notch around the socket. The existing hose should be coded. Medium pressure hose has a single wire braid and should be coded SAE J517 100R1. It should only be use with medium pressure couplers. High-pressure hose uses multiple wire braid. The series starts with double braid with a code of 100R2 and continues to reinforced braid at 100R9 and maybe higher. Installation of high-pressure couplers requires the hose covering to be trimmed back to the length of the socket while medium pressure couplers do not require trimming.

Basically you have to identify the hose type and diameter to ensure that the replacement hose is appropriate and that the fittings will work. Most any dealer or hydraulics shop should have hose in stock. If they cut new hose it may be best if they install the couplers as well.

In terms of the oil, hydraulic/TX oil is fairly universal stuff. Products sold in box stores likely are appropriate but a call to your dealer might figure out acceptable substitutes. You want dealer agreement if the tractor is under warranty.

A work about safety: Pinhole leaks can cause serious injury. The oil streams can't always be seen. The pressure is sufficient to penetrate skin or eyes. Oil injected under the skin requires medical attention within hours or very serious conditions result. Looking for leaks is done with a piece of pasteboard and not with the fingers.

155D has 15hp. The worth, all depends where ou live. Here in Northern Calif. $5000 to 6000 with a front loader. Bare bones - no attachments about $3,500 - $4,000.
