There are a number of manufactures for the neon bulbs. Most are coming from china. Check you local Home Depot or Lowes.

I have not seen any LED lights for flashlights yet only the halogens. I have seen the LED's on the street stoplights and truck tail lights. How bright are the LED's?
From MIT Tech. Review (MAY) they were talking about bright white LED's to replace interior lighting. I think they are a few years off yet. Could certainly reduce the cost of lighting the house.

I have a DT and wish I had upgraded to a different transmission system. While a lot of my frustration is likely operator related, the other systems seem like they would be much more efficient. However, this could also be a case where everything on the other side of the fence appears greener....

I have used hard surface welding rods before with good results, but I prefer wire welding. I noticed the other day that hard surface wire is available for the wire welder. Is there anyone on the board that has used this wire and can you tell me if it works as well as the rods for a stick welder?

Hi gang:

I'm new to the forum, and have appreciated the valuable info which I've read. I've decided to move up from my lawn/garden machines into something more substantial (10 acres: 5 field, 5 lawn) and just received a quote from a local JD dealer on a 4115 (I'd like to go bigger, but my equipment shed is just a shade too short to hold a 4210 with an attached snowblower).

Here's the quote (including his 'incentives'):

60" Mid Mount Mower $ 1,799
47" Snowblower (with a remote spout kit $100) $ 2,399

Actually, they are not bolts but hex-headed screws or lag screws. The plastic will hold a lot more torque than I figured. Eight screws on each side, plus construction adhesive, works pretty good. I drove around the yard a couple of times with the barrel filled with water and nothing leaks, seems plenty strong.

Sounds like everybody has the same idea and that was mine too-stories rather than sermons.

I still remember getting my tractor and immediately ordering a load of gravel for the drive. There I was happy as a lark bouncing down the drive with full buckets and not having a clue about ballast. I probably got my first clue from reading this site. Some time late I did a web search on 'tractor safety.' there was an institute and several safety oriented ad and construction sites. Got a few more clues but safety stuff doesn't make for very good light reading. Stories are better.

I remember the military. Briefings, debriefings and maneuvers although the AF terminology was a bit different. I think the briefings and debriefings get the ideas in the mind and the maneuvers get the body parts to cooperate. In any crisis oriented work you often can't think about what should be done. The responses just have to be there and it takes training and drilling to get them reliable. In working a tractor, I think I'm programming my body to make reliable responses. Stories will tell me what I have to get in my mind first.

Yikes! Three thousand posts? Guess that's what happens when you get up with the chickens and don't have any.

Yep, it's most likely a brake draggin. There's one thing the 46x0 has, darn good brakes. You could jack the rear up, put the range selector in nuetral and see if you can turn both back wheels?

I had a similar experience with NH filters. The Kubota has been fairly reasonable. My local parts store carries the fluid filters but they are not that much cheaper than the OEM. I can't imagine those air filters are not used in another application and are available elsewhere as the previous post states.
