Go ahead and do it anyway. Its VERY important to get the impurities out from break-in. Install a new filter and carefully clean the pickup screen if it has one. Changing ALL your fluids at 50 hr. is the most important time to insure long life of your machine.

Rob,<br>Sounds just like my experience. I get my 4300 two weeks ago. The manuals were there, but that would take time away from the tractor. I had to try everything first. Then when it began to rain, I finally got back to the manuals. I did not get any real insights from the manuals, except the correct sequence to take off the backhoe. Oh, you have to raise it up with the 3pt to get those pins out.<br>I think the bucket level indicator is an option [$35?]. I did not get one either, but decided it would be worthwhile after a few trys at leveling the bucket.<br>Good luck and have fun,<br>Doug<br>

Good to hear about your experience. I must admit that during the couple of weeks that I fussed with the damn thing I too was thinking it might be junk. You are right about having to modify everything and I guess I was just plain lucky that I had a mower and a scoop that could be modified. I got out cheap in the case of the mower ($20 for machining the lift pin adapters, but I dont know how much the modifications on the scoop are going to cost me. I was a little concerned at first about the mower jumping out but it has stayed secure even in tough going. I recentlly saw an ad for something called

Forget the stump and tree removal with the 4100, unless the stumps are very old, or the trees are rather small. This issue has been discussed before many times here. Usually, the common advice is to hire that work out to a bulldozer and save the heavy wear and tear on your compact for things it is really suited for.<br>Keith

I have a 5 foot Rhino cutter (SE5) I have only used about 10 hours or so. It has worked great in some real thick and tall weeds and honey locust trees. Some cedar elm, mesquite, and cedar trees also. I have 24 acres, about 12 of which is woods, the other half I mowed for the first time in 15 years. It was really a mess. I ran over trees about an inch or so and smaller - went around anything larger. I ran over some 2 inch trees accidentally with no problems, but I prefer to use the chain saw the bigger stuff. Plus, as far cedar elm, I want to keep them if they have gotten that big already.<br>Anyway, thats not a lot of use to draw from, but it seems to be a really good piece of equipment. I haven't sheared a pin yet. Pull it with a Kubota B2710.

The chipper has a built in fan on the back of the flywheel that lifts the chips up and discharges them out a chute. I built a plywood extension and top for my trailer and shoot the chips into it. <br>I am satisfied with the quality of construction and ease of operation. The power feed is great. I decided on the power feed because it will pull small branches and vines as well as the large stuff right into the chipper. It eliminates kickbacks which can happen with the last foot or so of the branch without power feed. It is also rated as quieter than many other chippers. <br>I paid $3475 for the 18P, the model without power feed (18G) was $1000 less but is being discontinued. The first dealer raised the price $600. since I priced it with him last fall. I contacted the manufacturer and was told the list price had increased $100 during that time. Sure it's big enough to do valuable work. It would be nicer for digging into<br>dirt and sand piles if it had 4wd, but you will do lots with 2wd. Much of what is<br>done with a loader is to move things from place to place. Sort of a combination <br>wheelbarrow and work platform. Get a good weight box on the tractor or else <br>carry a box scraper with additional weight. Your main problem will be going<br>up or down hilly gravel roads with all the weight on the front wheels - which<br>have neither drive nor brakes.....<br> I'd but the smallest loader that will fit. A few comments.<br>Turf tires. With turf tires, on dry sandy soil, loading the bucket with sand, the tractor will stall before the tires spin. that's enough traction for me. With chains on on ice, the turf tires do better than Ag tires without, and putting the chains on takes less than 5 minutes. (Secret - let some air out, tighten the chains, add some air)<br>On wet grass, turf tires slip a bit. That's what the 4 wheel drive/ diff lock are for. But when they do slip, they leave a small depression in the lawn. AG tires on wet lawn leave nice V Shaped ruts.<br>Backed out of the creek, up an incline on wet grass with muddy tires, bucket full of wet clay this weekend, no weights on the rear, turf tires, no issue. Slipped a bit, engaged 4wd, out she came.<br><br>Turf tires are fine. Look at all the rental yards with 855/955s or Kubotas as TLBs. They are almost all on turfs.<br><br>As for loader capacity. Base your decisions on what you can use, not what the book says. Reading spec sheets can be deceiving. The loader on the 790 is capable of 755lbs or so. The loader on the 4200 757lbs (JD Specs- Buying guide)or 1195lbs if you read the 4000 series brochure (Higher lift capacity on the 4300). Either way, you will be hard pressed to put that much weight in the bucket. Certainly not with manure, dirt, clay etc.<br>For 3PtHitch capacity, think about the difference in capacity as what is useable, not what the spec sheet says. A 2600 lb tractor with a 2000 lb lift capacity will almost lift the front wheels off the ground!<br>But do consider the 4200 for the Hydrostatic. And don't buy a compact tractor without 4wd!
