<br>From all the good things I hear about the 29D I see no point in spending the extra bucks unless it's 300 or 500 more. Check to see if the displacement is ,in fact, larger on the 33.<br>

Thanks for your input. The dealer did point out the 790's lift capacity and <br>wanted to sell me a Great Bend Loader which had something like 1329 lbs vs 755 <br>for the Deere loader. Apparently, they make loader's for all <br>the compacts. Still, that doesn't change the hitch lift capacity does it. Also,<br>I'd rather see John Deere on the side than Great Bend. Can you go into more <br>detail on the difference between independent and non-independent PTO's. The only<br>thing I can gather from the literature is when you step on the clutch of an<br>independent PTO tractor, the mower or tiller or whatever won't stop mowing, <br>tilling, or whatevering. Is there something else I'm missing? Does an <br>independent PTO effect the loader or steering or something else? Thanks again<br>for your comments.

There is no rule of thumb. Use the thing between your ears. If it doesn't look or feel safe DON'T do it. Mow it by hand. <br><br>

Just bought a 790, but looked for a long time. Dealer here has a 850 HST, FWD, former commercial use with same hours, but rough sheet metal, seat, etc for same price. Sounds like a good price, but as I am finding out, a good dealer is everything. Make sure you got a GOOD deere dealer in your area.

You won't <br>ever regret having extra horsepower and several compacts are as or more <br>muneverable than the 4100. <br>If your concerned about the extra weight on the lawn look at the Kubota<br>B2710. Seven more horsepower, you can get the back hoe and not that much<br>more expensive. Speaking of the lawn you mentioned I might rethink on the<br>R1 tires unless you have a lot of muck to work in or really don't care if you<br>rip up the grass. <br>Good luck,

Good Idea! - I was having the same thoughts as I read through these messages.<br>I just bought my tractor and have fueled it once - what a pain in the @#!#$#.<br>It has a strainer in the filler neck of the tank so will only take so much flow.<br>Any faster and it overflows all over the place. Spent 15 min holding 5gal can<br>and funnel standing on front tire with one knee on hood straddling loader arm.<br>By the way - I am hooked on this message board since I ran across it couple of<br>weeks ago. Just looking at a 1989 model 1010 Massey. Less than 500 hours, really good shape and well kept. I'm curious about the durability, power, value, and experience anyone out there may have with this tractor. What is a good ball park figure for a price? Thanks for any and all advice.

I have used a Yanmar tractor for 2 years with no problems. It is a diesel 15 hp, 2 wheel drive with a loader. I use a 5' BMB finish mower and it works great. When using the loader I loose traction before power. It has a three speed transmission with a high / low range. Two speed pto. Other uses have been pulling fence post, rolling big bales of hay(using loader to lift and drive forward to roll bale) spraying pastures, make flower beds, move gravel in driveway, move snow. It was always getting front flat tires from thorns, had the product called Rely put in the front tires (makes the tire solid inside, both tires cost total of $62.00 - well worth it!) One thing about having the loader-you don't need a jack to change the front tires-just raise the front end up. Fuel consumption is very low.
