I've Been mowing for 25 Hrs on my new BX 2200 at full throttle and then I read the manual. How bad is this? I would also like to buy a bush hog, any suggestions? Thanks-Babb

Tom,
I too have a 33D,but without supersteer.Yes, the grill does catch a lot of grass,dirt,etc. but, at least it keeps it out of the radiator.You're right about the brakes,worthless with the hydro,but,i had a 1725 gear tractor before this one and i rarely used the brakes independent of one another so i wasn't to concerned about this.My tractor makes a lot of noises that i didn't have with the old tractor,most aggravating is the noise i have from either the gears or clutch housing(gear chatter).The noise hasn't affected operation of tractor,just annoying.I love my 33D too.Boy,does 4wd make a big difference in ability to get things done.I haven't taken my FEL off yet,kinda nervous about that,any pointers? First FEL too,don't see how i got by without one. I have 46 hours on mine now and will be doing 50 hour service this week,can't decide to do it myself or have dealer do it(have $200 credit at dealer that was part of purchase negotiations).I almost bought a JD 4300 but went with blue color due to dealer confidence.What remedies do you have?

I rented one once to cut hillsides that had over grown. My hillbilly days in Kentucky. It worked quite well but got sticks jammed once in a while.
I mowed the same ground with my tractor and bush hog. Much easier, but I had 4 wheel drive. I am not sure I would have taked the brush trimmer anywhere I would not take the tractor. In fact I thought it was more dangerous with the trimmer.

One requires diesel and the other requires gasoline.
One requires diesel engine oil to prevent soot and keep it clean and the other require reqular oil.
One requires you to keep the tank from empty and the other would happily run until dry.
One requires a good air filter to keep the injectors clean and the other will happily chew dirt.
Is this a test?

There are loaders readily available for the tractor. The JD is easy to attach and detach. I have not checked other new loaders.
I had an older Bushhog loader on another compact. This may have been a little stonger unit but the older unit was difficult to remove.
You can expect to pay $3000+ for a good loader. The price on the JD 755 might be a little high it depend if it is 4x4 or not.

The gel batteries are valve regulated lead acid batteries. There are three main types, rolled batteries with glass mat separators, flat plate batteries with the glass matts and gel batteries. The gel batteries are slightly better at deep discharge than the others. I would recommend either the rolled or the flat plate as I tend to bump around and the these batteries have greater pressures on the plates. All should perform better than a regular battery in this application. One of the best features is the low self discharge rate.

Ed, I hope you didn't pay too much of an "astronomical" price, considering it has MultiPower... The Perkins 203 Diesel is Great, lots and lots of torque. The MF65 is Great... However the MP is NOT. Hope you don't have Independent PTO, because your mowing plans may go down the tubes if/when the MP malfunctions. The MP/Independent hydraulic pumps are "internal", meaning you have to split the tractor to service and setup. When the MP works, it works very well... it's when it doesn't work... that is costly. I have the descendant of yours, the MF165. I have an extra set of original service manuals for your tractor, also operators manual, parts manual, electrical, etc. when you're ready to work on it. I do wish you the best, you have more hp than you'll know what to do with...Good Luck Ed.

John, I misread... The MF1250 is 33 Engine HP, 26.8 PTO HP, with 16/16 PowerShuttle trans, 25 PTO HP with Hydro, 3 cyl - 91.4 cid Iseki/Isuzu engine, 2746 lbs. 4WD. I linked the AGCO ST Compact Website and it appears they are identical except Massey Red and AGCO Orange.

Nuc, there is another very well made articulated tractor, made by Lambourghini, I am told by the 'Lambo' people here that they are sold (and backed up with parts & service) directly from the factory ANYWHERE in the world. Best of luck.

Thanks for the notes. I am avoiding a lot of work this summer so far but if I were a farmer, I would be in big trouble by now.

I just checked with the dealer Saturday - No progress - they are still working with the factory and "trying various things". I asked if they had the number I could call at John Deere or the area rept, and they didn't.

I did in fact reach the limit of my patience (I am on stress medication, is why I appear to be patient), looked up and called John Deere customer service this morning for action - asking them to replace or refund the tractor. They promised to get back to me this afternoon.

I believe that it could be a borderline design problem but I am more incined to believe my dealer isn't qualified for non-garden tractor repairs.
It would be premature, however, for me to name the dealer.

Ok, thanks Jack. From what you are saying I get that "SCV" is a more general term and could apply to any valve. I was confused because I see the term used a lot on the newer JDs which have a closed center configuration. p

I own a Woods RD7200 and its been a great mower so far except for the belt. I have only owned the mower for about 9 months and had to replace the belt already. My previous mower made it 4 years without a belt change. I didn't bog the mower nor did I hit any obstacles. I regularly mow about 10 acres on a weekly or semi weekly basis depending upon weather conditions etc. (I have mowed with this belt about 12 times or 120 acres) Has anyone else had any belt problems like this? Or did I just happen upon bad luck and get a bad belt. I'd love to hear from other how much mowing they do with this mower and how often they replace the belt.

Thanks for the tip on the M-F 1200 series (being sisters to the Agco tractors). So far, I haven't been able to find much info on the MF 1200. About the only comment I've heard on M-F in general was that they are more expensive to maintain and parts are tougher to get (this was from a couple of dealers for competing brands). Can you comment on their reliability, and whether there is any truth to these claims?
