I own a Woods RD7200 and its been a great mower so far except for the belt. I have only owned the mower for about 9 months and had to replace the belt already. My previous mower made it 4 years without a belt change. I didn't bog the mower nor did I hit any obstacles. I regularly mow about 10 acres on a weekly or semi weekly basis depending upon weather conditions etc. (I have mowed with this belt about 12 times or 120 acres) Has anyone else had any belt problems like this? Or did I just happen upon bad luck and get a bad belt. I'd love to hear from other how much mowing they do with this mower and how often they replace the belt.

Mark The problem with belts is heavy grass, lots of horse power, to much ground speed. Mark I do not like the price of factory # belts. I used my 72" finish mower on my 19hp Ford for 6 years, with the original belt. It lasted 15 minutes on my 35hp new tractor. Had to by a $60.00 landpride belt and had it matched for a new belt for $20.00 (they are the same!). Take your belt off and check each spindle and idler for stiffness or excessive looseness or bearing rattling. Good luck! ....

Mark,
I have a Woods RD6000 that is new this season, and I use it behind a Kubota B2410. I hadn't responded because I am quite a bit behind you - I've probably mowed a total of 20-25 acres worth so far with the Woods. I have not had any problems to date. Some of the mowing has been for a neighbor in a place where the grass was so tall I had no business using a finish mower. It made me a little queasy about the mower, but the tractor and mower both handled it flawlessly. Good luck and hopefully you get some more responses. ....

I wish it were from mowing in deep grass, but it just snapped. The belt actually looks perfect except where it broke. All of the spindles etc are in good shape as is the ideler pulley. I'm guessing it was just a flawed belt. ....

I found out why my belt broke. After purchasing a new belt and starting to install it, I noticed that the tensioner pulley seemed very wobbly. Upon inspection I found a broken weld on the Pin that acts as the pivot point for the tensioner lever. It appears that this weld was never fully finished at the factory. It looks as though it were only tacked in place. This is very disapointing for me because the mower is not yet a year old, and I have been very diligent in maintaining it properly. I have also never mowed in grass that is extrememly deep etc. I'm hoping this was just bad luck and not the norm for Woods products. Anyone else ever heard of this happening? ....
