I have been looking for a unit to water my 3 acre lawn. Most roller type pumps that I have seen, appear to be designed for a sprayer, not sprinkler heads. Maybe someone can verify how much area can be sprinkled using using one of these as I would be interested to know as well. I did find this website, they have a unit that comes with a pump, hoses,sprinkler head, and tripod for $1395. I haven't spoken to anyone that is using it so I can't testify how well it works.

I hear ya Peters. Just called a dealer on the Woods RD6000. It is $1850 with the chains! Wow. I can't justify that much $$ for my first mower. I'm still looking for a king cutter dealer in Maine, they appear to be a nice mower for the $$. The major difference I see between the more expensive mowers and the cheaper mowers is that the cheaper ones use a slip clutch in the main shaft while the higher$$ woods use the belt drive. The belt drive appears to be more friendly and reliable. If that slip clutch rusts up, no more slipping!

Dr.: I'm always interested in design issues. I never thought of a screen in the 3ph high-pressure line. At first, I thought 'Why?' After all, the oil runs through a full-flow filter just before the pump. I guess the answer is that the auxiliary system is ahead of the 3ph, and junk could get in the oil through aux system quick-connects of from the lines of any implement with hydraulics. I suppose it's a lesson, especially for those of us who don't have screens, to make sure fittings are clean before connecting them. there may be a lesson for Deere as well. If you have replaced dozens of screens yourself, I�m surprised Deere hasn't come up with a replacement that doesn't come loose. The number of failures world-wide must be huge. Maybe dealers should be bugged, and then dealers might bug their manufacturer reps.

Congrats & have fun. I'd read everything about safety and operation I could find here and elsewhere and pay particular attention to ballasting. Proper ballast reduces the chance of tips and rollovers. Most operators develop a feel when the tractor is unstable and just do the right things automatically. Starting from scratch, it best to study 'principals' and think through operations until the tractor becomes an extension of yourself. The first few times you mount a 3ph implement are going to seem like pains--it does get pretty easy though. Setting implements on blocks and getting a 5' steel prybar to shift them around helps. I guess the SCV is for a loader that also is on the tractor. Quite a few folks eventually get a 3ph implement that requires hydraulics and end up adding an additional control valve for a rear hydraulic circuit. Kits from manufacturers are a bit pricy, and the dealer may have almost thrown in a 3-section SCV as a deal maker--might still be possible.

All-Any one no why New Holland does not offer their 45 HorsePower Tractors with the Mid PTO Option. It is available on the 40 and I thought the 40 & 45 have the same frame size. Is their some interference issues with the 45 transmission/engine size that prevents having the MID PTO Option?Curious because the 45 would be nice for the extra power but in the long run don't know if I every will come in the need for a Mid PTO.Thanks in advance for knowledge/help?Benjamin Youman

I guess the oil level is rechecked after it has been blowing oil, and the level is checked on fairly level ground. If so, it sounds like a blocked crankcase breather. All engines produce some blow-by, and many engines also create pressure waves from piston movements. A crankcase has to have a breather. If the breather is blocked, the dipstick is about the only other opening. Many dipsticks on small diesels come into the crankcase quite low near the oil level. If blow-by is existing through the dipstick, it's likely that some oil is being picked up and forced out around the dipstick. I'd mow for awhile and then check for oil while the tractor is still running at PTO speed. Wipe off any oil and wait to see if it's still blowing oil. If so, wipe again and remove the oil-fill cap to see if it still blows. If it stops blowing, a blocked breather is likely, which should be fairly simple to find and correct. Open breather systems can be a hose on the side of the engine, a breather cap on the rocker arm cover etc. Closed systems, like PVC automotive systems, feed pressure from the crankcase back through the intake manifold, and there is a valve somewhere in the line.

I have read the dk35 manual and I was wondering if I have forgotten the english language.Its funny trying to make sense of this book.I think the proof reader was a Korean who spoke broken english.Forward means back and in means out and SEA is SAE and so on and so forth etc. etc. etc.The words are kind of like mercury,its hard to put your finger on it,I almost get it but I dont....I have about 15 hrs on the tractor, if you do any bushhogging what rpm and what gear do you usually stay in Im running about 2000 in first in high range.I noticed the hydraulic oil seems to really get hot I can feel the control for the front end loader and you cant put your hand on it,but the engine temp is fine.Thanks for any feedback. I don't use them for major grading but they work for final leveling. I've used them to clean out water ways tah have filled with dirt m where you don't need a tilt. I wouldn't use them to fill a large hole, but they work fine for backfilling trenches.

Also impressive, at least to me, was the Harley rake that I rented. This has a powered roller with 2" spikes (fingers) that dig in, kicking debris (rocks, etc) forward and letting the dirt (fines) roll over the roller to the rear. Angling it will allow the debris to windrow to the side, or straight it will keep the debris going forward. If wanting to run deep, just move slower. There appear to be several different sizes, from 3pt to skidsteer. When I used one and after a few passes, I had a lot of fine dirt pile up that I moved (dragged) by turning the PTO off and just dragged it along with the unpowered rake. Just passing info along. Not sure how it compares to the other tools mentioned here, but sure is a great tool to go from rough lot to one with a seedbed ready for seeding in one to just a few passes. Picking up the windrowed rocks with the loader bucket worked great too. The link is glenmac.com.

Thanks for the info Kenny. I went and got the part this morning $400.00 + dollars. Everything in the differential is fine, bearings etc are all good. I spoke with JD they basically said tough luck. I just wonder if my other one is about to go.

Brian, I paid 17,600 for the 29D with 7308 loader and 5ft brush hog. Price seems a little high but the green around here was more.
