Greetings,<br>I still can't figure outwhy 3 pt doesn't work with loader. Can in and out hoses be switched on loader and it still work properly? 3 pt goes up slowly only if no weight attached. 3pt works fine when loader unhooked and switch on hydraulic block flipped. I believe power beyond hose hooked to proper plug on joystick but can't be sure as its not marked. Any thoughts? Thanks PJ Drew

The rearend went out four the third time today. The first two times I was pushing brush.At 25 hrs then again at fifty hours.This time I have 120 hrs. I was digging a ditch with the backhoe and started to move the tractor up and it snaped very loud and it was over. Lucky to have 4x4.I got it back home using the front .I'll take it back to dealer in the AM.Boy am I ever going to hate this.Ken

I have two cigarette lighter adapters wired to my aux light then have lights with heavy duty magnets that stick to my rollbar. This comes in handy when using the loader at night for better lighting ahead and to turn around when working the 3pt. I also use the cig lighter for a bright flasher. what I like about it is the flexibility. I got the lights from northern hydralics which i admit were not that great. I have since used the magnets to attach to a better light called a Blaster. much better. hope this helps.

I have been pulling a 6 1/2 foot disc with an NH 3415. The 3415 would pull it anyway I wanted to. Also pulls two 14 inch flat bottom plows really well. I had 14.9X24 R1 tires and heavy clay soil. It's the weight that matter when pulling AG equipment. That's why some of the old AG tractors weighted 2 tons or more, but only had 25 hp. I am trading for a TN65, it is considered a three plow, 8 foot disc tractor. Hope this helps. John

There is lots of information about the rebate on the New Holland web page. The rebate is not the same for all tractors or equipment, it varies according to what you are buying. I am getting a TN65. Standard TN tractors have 2,000 cash back. This rebate is allowing me to get the TN65 for the same price I paid for my 3415 last year. The dealer is adding a bumper, putting fluid in the tires and moving my canopy over from the 3415. I am very pleased with the deal now that he has found a year 2000 machine for me. I'm also buying a 1020 Woods loader at the same time. Hope this helps. John

go to woodsonline and check out their lawn retovater.i've used brillions for many years to do the job you want to do,but always worked the surface with a gill or harrow first.you need loose dirt to stick the seed too.i bought a ryan mataway about 15 years ago for small jobs and liked the way it worked enough to spend the money on a gandy slit seeder for the 3 point.it did cost a little over 5k at the dealer but a l leonard has it for a little less.good luck

Hey guys, I have a 4600, 460 loader, 73" bucket and pallets forks and like one said earlier I use my forks more than my bucket. Reason I went with deere forks is that they were in the back (in stock) when I bought the tractor last month. And they set them up and loaded them for 900 bucks. I also bought the forks because my dad vuilt a set for his skidloader and wouldn't have saved his back with out them. Pallets, bales, telephone poles, rerod, etc. are all uses I have used them for. Just don't get in a hurry when you're loaded and on a side hill without weight on back, it kind of makes ya think twice when you have to stop fast and it rocks clear off the back wheels, stupid? yeah, but makes me think about buying the wheel weights for it now. Experience is the best teacher!

If you respect your machine by following the service schedule laid out in your owner's manual, and you don't try to use it for work it was never intended to do, your 7260 should out-live you. That was a good price considering you got it with the loader. Good luck with the new machine.

Thanks for pricing information. It agrees with what I was thinking. I had been told about the 15-20% loss of value by the dealer earlier this year. I paid $14,700 for the tractor, loader, and 6' Landpride rake initially. I feel $10,500 to $11,000 is a fair price for my B1700 considering hours and "always garaged" condition.

Th size of the driveway is not the issue. I'm looking to consolidate a lawn tractor and the B1700 into a single unit. My B1700 with loaded tires is too big and too heavy to do the job. Unfortunately the BX may not be the answer for me either.

Please understand, I LOVE my B1700!! It has done very well by me, but I really don't need it's capabilities very often at this point. I thought if I could get a smaller version of my B1700 that I could use to mow AND get a front mount two stage snowblower with the capability of adding other implements I would be ahead of the game. I clearly understand that the BX is NOT as much tractor as the B series but I suspect it's more than I need at this point. In fact the Carver website posts a warning to that effect to potential 1st time buyers.

FYI - I am mowing with a Simplicity Broadmoor (18HP, 50" deck with Turbo Blower/Bagger). It cost about 1/2 as much as a BX with a deck but is NO WHERE NEAR the same quality. The Simplicity does do a wonderful job of mowing except for a lack of traction (I have some steep slopes to mow).

At this point I'm still undecided as to what I'll do. I have been invited to visit another CTB member who traded his B1700 for a BX earlier this year. I'll get his pro's and con's to help me decide.

I've been in love with tractors ever since I can remember so any excuse to look at, investigate, read about, or talk about tractors is very enjoyable.

BTW - Do you know if there is a front mount snowblower available for the B1700? I've never seen one advertised.

I bought a brush guard from my JD dealer today,(JD 4400)I was wondering what the going price is for one of these from the other JD dealers,also there are some pre-made holes through cross pieces that are in front of the radiator,what are these holes for?It looks to me like these were made to install or attatch something maybe?I hope I am clear about what I am saying.<br>Thanks<br>Hillbilly

Hey, thanks for all the great assistance! As it turns out, when the seller actually gt the tractor back in his yard, lo and behold - it had turfs, not R-4's, on it! That kinda bummed me out, as I was really psyched for the R-4's. He also said he had misquoted me on the price and was really asking $13,800! That made me even less excited. I think the tractor is still a pretty good deal at that price and with the turfs but I need to mull it over for a few days to kind of "re-adjust" to a higher price and different equipment than I had gotten excited about. Will keep you posted!

Tom if you could put your tractor on a trailer and take it to your local dealer I'm quite sure he could tell you what is what that might interchange easily. These tractors do have different parts used in some areas such as hydraulics but the chassis are pretty close. Good Luck.

I would get a second opinion on the repair work, as well. I cannot ever remember a $3900.00 Kubota repair bill coming out of our shop, and we have been Kubota dealers a long time. I would find out exactly what the dealer is planning to do and ask to see the parts that they are going to replace. I hate to second-guess fellow dealers, but it wouldn't hurt to check. Some of the slower moving parts for the older L-series models tend to be pricier than others. If you have part numbers, let me know and I will give you the list prices on the parts to make sure that they are not jacking the prices up way above list.

My JD dealer is also a couple of hours away. I used to drive there. Now I just pick up the phone and ask the dealer to send a box of filters. UPS delivers the next day. No matter how good aftermarket filters are, I figure the stock ones are designed for that engine....and as cheap as they are I can change them twice as often. If you want micro-filtering then no full flow filter has this. You have to go to an aftermarket bypass filter - this used to be a more common practice than it is today. A full flow plus an auxillary bypass type is still a great way to filter anything.
Congratulations on the 4100! Isn't that still the last of the 100% Yanmar-built JD's? If so, it is hard to buy a better filter than Yanmar makes....IF John Deere is using the original Yanmar filter. BTW, I agree with changing the oil for the first time at very low hours for exactly the reasons that you give.

I recall somebody saying that the only place gears work better is for a calibrated speed operation. Some planters I think. Maybe that comes under Art's heading of tillage. I've got gears myself--it was the right tractor at the right time for me and still is for the most part. Still, after a day of loader work, HST might be nice, even though the tractor has something like a shuttle-shift.
