Hello all.I got a guy selling 1401's 4x4 for $4200 w/tiller(3cyl). Problem is I have been getting different answers on the Horse Power on these. I have heard 14,17, and 19. Any help would be appreciated. Also how is there reputation?thanks a lot Bob

Hi Bob,
I really can't help on the horsepower issue, but I just thought I would pass on some info on yanmar in general. While they have a good reputation with their association with John Deere, I understand that parts are near impossible to find. Some people mistakenly assume that they can get parts from deere but very few parts will interchange. This is something you definitely want to check into before you purchase one of these tractors. While I think yanmar is a good tractor, any brand will eventually need repair parts. ....

CORRECTION. Yanmar parts are not hard to get. Parts availability os pretty good. The reason you can't get parts from a JD dealer is Yanmar & Deere different part #s for the same part. I'm a Yanmar dealer, I have Deere owners & even JD dealerships call me for JD parts. I can cross somethings, some I can't. Example: I've sold the parts from Yanmar to rebuild a JD waterpump ($50). Deere only sold the complete pump($300-$400). Yanmar dealers are not required to sell parts for grey market tractors. Many of the Yanmar dealers are not involved with grey market tractors. They have the dealership , so they can support the US Yanmars they sold in the past. I have parts books for 40 different Yanmar grey tractors & have access to more. I can say that parts aren't any harder to get than for most other compact tractors of the same age. When you are saying grey tractor are your referring to a grey market vehicle. i am familiar with this in autos. If so, how does this affect their pricing and parts availability?
How would I know if it was grey?
Where is your dealership, I see you must be in northern IL...we are near St Louis.. I am currently looking for a tractor, with a loader, would like live PTO and the best deal, obviously.... ....
