I agree with Brady. Lots of folks trade UP in size; seldom do I hear of anyone trading DOWN. I used a B7100 for 4 years and liked it, but now have a B2710 and like it BETTER. And if it weren't for price, I'd have probably bought an even bigger one.

I'll just speak from personal experience. I have a Woods XT172 (6' light cutter). Other than some 3/4" pricker bushes I have not really tackled any thick brush. I use mine on the lowest setting (approx 2") and I do occasionally hit some rocks with the blades. More often the rear "lip" of the deck has pulled rocks out of the ground (which can shake the tractor pretty good). My pasture is filled with pretty good sized rocks (about the size of 2 or 3 bricks). So far the cutter has served me well. The blades are just barely nicked and the rear "lip" is not bent in the slightest. The deck has thick "skids" welded along the bottom lip on the sides. I believe that the MD unit is heavier than mine.

The prices quoted to me by Metkit in Va. was $120 for the 6" width, $128 for the 12" width, both in stock ready to ship, and $150 for a custom cut width of 8", shipped in 5 days. The shipping charge to me is about $40. Keep in mind these are kits, and the buyer (or someone else) has to weld it together. All parts are pre-cut and drilled where needed.

Has anyone had this same situation or heard of anyone..The mower wouldn't start and everything checked out ok except I came across a fuse..and it was burnt I replaced the fuse and she started right up...But everytime I shut her down she blows a fuse..Any suggestions?????<br>thanks<br>tom

About two months ago I bought a 1991 JD870, 4wd, 80 loader, 6ft rake, turf wheels/tires and almost new set of Ag wheels/tires thrown in, 420 hours, excellent condition. The seller was originally asking $13,900, then went down to $13,000. I offered $12K and he accepted a few days later. I've put 50 hours on it already with no problems at all. It's been a great machine and has cut my total mowing time in half since I bought my 6ft Caroni finish mower.

Have you checked the the hydralic cylinder rods? I have seen rods that had a slight bow in them. If they have a bow, they will squeek really bad. Take a straight edge, like a carpenters square, and check each rod in 4 places. If they are bent, you can straighten them by using a wood 4 x 4 on the high side to bend them straight. Just bend a little and check. Do it a little at a time.

Thanks for the help, I did try tractortips.com, but they didn't have any info on my tractor. There doesn't seem to be much talk of the L2650 on the net anywyhere, oh well. I managed to rustle up a manual through another source though. Again, thanks for the help.

The part number for the transmission is 66071-15100 price is $1796.16 list from a dealer. Hydro gear and Peerless made the transmissions some years ago.

The L3010 replaced the L2900, Both are great super Grand L series tractors and the only problem I have ever seen was a light front end when a loader was not in use. Front weights will take care of this problem, but the price of the weights is very steep. you could make your own weights or use a aftermarket front grille guard for weight and protect that front end at the same time. If you damage the front end, it will get into your wallet.

The problem that you are describing is common in the older kubota engines. Kubota installed aluminum plugs in their camshafts on each end to plug the oil transfer tube in the cam. upon removale of the front gear case cover you will find the plug has dropped out of the end of the cam and into the oil pan, do not worry it will not go any where else. You may have already removed it when you drained the oil, there is another plug in the back of the cam that should not affect the oil pressure if it comes loose the end of the cam has a dealed space that is so tight it will hold oil pressure up to factory specs. Please do not use the aluminum plugs, use a threaded hex driven plug instead.

I had a 1975 L260 that I just sold about a month and a half ago. It sold for $4,300.00 with a five foot finish mower attached to the three point hitch. I loved mine it worked great, I installed a rops i got from a kubota dealer for $200.00, kubota will sell these for their cost to insure customer saftey. I have had this unit for about five and a half years for personal use. I worked at a kubota dealership from the end of 1994 to May of this year, and went into business for my self.

Max--I have had this same issue (along with lots of others) with my 4400HST. In my situation, it seemed to be worse after tractor had been working for a while and while driving it in road gear, would have to shift into 2nd axle on a level road. The dealer, along with JD DTAC, diagnosed it as brake drag--one of the brakes was set too tight at the factory. My tractor is 19 months old and I would have though that JD would have caught all of these at the factory by now. Eventually my brakes locked up and had to be replaced. One way to check to see IF the brakes are, indeed, dragging because they are adjusted too tight is to look beneath the tractor for the brake rods that go from the brake pedals back to the brakes and see if they can be wiggled or rattled at all. IF they are dragging, you could not rattle the brake rods at all. With this said (from my dealer), I must admit that my tractor has experienced this same RPM drop while in road gear twice after the front end, brakes, PTO and transmission were replaced at 70 hours and it has 140 hours now. It has not had the problem once I found out from my dealer how to check the brake rods to see if the brakes were set too tight and were dragging. (With my luck with this tractor, I figure it will wait until the warranty has expired to act up again, so I will be following any other responses to this thread with interest). Mike S.

I have this blade on a 4200 and it works well. Do note that it does not
have a replaceable cutting edge. This will probably never be an issue for me,
but might be for someone else.

I originally ordered a bushhog blade that had a tilt and offset feature. What
I didn't realize is that these features pushed the 3point pins up so high that
I could hardly lift it off the ground. My dealer agreed to keep it and sell me the 45 blade to get me out of trouble.

Where is the switch for the neutral sense on the forward/N/reverse lever on a JD 4500 W/sync reverser? The local dealer "fixed" it to where you now have to wiggle the lever from forward to neutral to get the engine to start. Also since the "fix" whenever you get off the tractor the engine shuts down. PTO is off, trans. in N, drive lever in N, parking brake on and it still shuts off. The tractor did not have this problem prior to the "fix." Any thoughts?

The tractor: 1967 MF 135 Deluxe<br>The problem: The ipto won't disengage.<br>This has happened after replacing the ipto valves w/remotes with a valve body with no remotes. Anybody know where to start on this one? The ipto is supposed to be engaged/disengaged with a lever on the left side of the rear case; it won't disengage.
