The Aprilaire Instructions require connection to a hot water line.

Since it is a winter use heating application hot water seems to make sense. Also it may be possible that warm water may mix with the hot air better to raise humidity more efficiently

These tractors have little excess radiator capacity. You could have plugged passages in the radiator which would require a shop to boil it out. Getting hot that fast makes me think of a cracked head (common problem) but hope not.

How are you going to ventilate the area under the tin roof? If you're going to put in a ceiling like in greyhorse's video, you'd usually put in eave vents to let air in and a ridge vent and/or a gable vent/fan to let hot air out .
If you want to leave the attic space useable (or you like the look), one way to do it is pull the tin, then put down sheathing or other decking. You may or may not retain the purlins. Rigid foam insulation goes on the decking, then vertical cleats so you have a air gap running up the roof then either put the tin on the cleats or purlins or sheathing then tin. Eave vents between every cleat and a ridge vent to let the air out.
Don't neglect a moisture barrier if your insulation can absorb water.

My great room has 5/4" tongue&groove for decking - looks great - but probably overkill for a barn. On the other hand, OSB sheathing ain't pretty.

You can put wiring in the airgap, so figure out any ceiling fixtures and fans up front.

Lastly, check with your building inspector before starting as he may have opinions he can enforce.

This is an old secret method for diagnosing glow plugs, so don't tell anyone.

Take an old school sealed beam headlight bulb. Put a length of wire and an alligator clip to one terminal of the bulb. Put a second wire on the other terminal with a bare end (I solder the end of the wire to make it stiffer and easier to probe with.

In use you put the alligator clip to the negative battery terminal. Now touch the bare wire to the positive terminal and not the brightness of the bulb. Now Touch the bare wire to each of the glow plug wires while disconnected from the glow plug while turning the key on each time. Again, note the brightness each time, all should be consistent with each other and very close to the brightness of the light straight across the battery. Any dim results or no light you have a wiring issue.

Now to test the glow plugs themselves, put the alligator clip to the positive battery terminal and touch the bare lead to each glow plug one after the other (key off for this) and again note the brightness. All should be equal or really close to it.

I can remember using 10 6 4 when I was a kid. The good news is you get a lot of material to spread so you can spread in multiple directions, 10 pounds per 1000 sq feet.

The bad news is it si not slow release so your efforts will be short lived. The name brands Fall lawn products spread at under 3 pounds per thousand and are slow release.

So I would go with a Fall Lawn food product rather than 10-10-10 or 10-6-4. Fewer bags less lugging longer lasting about the same cost.

It's 4 wheel drive Art, but all 4 are at the back. LOL

Lot's of Belarus and Zetor tractors are 2WD units.

They use them like trucks too so they have synchromesh transmissions, brake lights an turn signals too.

Heavy solid beasts, probably the reason for duals.

It is hard to compare a good zero turn to a compact tractor. They both have different main purposes which they both do very well at but at the opposite ends of the spectrum they are not so good. There is a new player is the zero turns which we really have been enjoying selling for hillsides and that is the Cadet line of pro mowers with the steering wheels. Still zero turn but the fronts are not caster action and you do have control of them to direct the front steering. This helps on hills as well as wet spots to hold your line.
The compacts are physically larger then the zero turn and that is the start of the problem as well as the fact they lack the zero in the turn! I always push for people to buy the smallest tractor or power unit with the largest deck possible. That allows the deck to stick out further from the tractor making it easier to trim. It also cuts the size of the uncut circle when trimming.

Thanks for posting this. I never realized that Ferris has a suspension, nice, and that is why you can so so fast on them and mow 5 acres an hour with no back pain. Amazing!

I'm with Bosco. I maintain a couple of drives one is 1/3 of a mile and the other is a 1/4 mile long. The box blade will cut up and fill any of the ruts. If it gets packed to tight just put the teeth in and cut it up and take teeth back out and smooth it out. A hydraulic toplink makes things a lot easier. I can keep both roads as smooth as a baby's hind end.

If you are not running AG tractors and making multiple oil changes per year...then you make the annual oil change no matter how few hours you put on your machine...Like Art White said...condensation in your oil is NOT good...:)

That is awesome! Bluegrass is pretty big up here in S/W PA believe it or not. On a side note my aunt was from Boone and I visited there a long time ago. My uncle had a job where he moved to a new location every few years. Her family was in the furniture business and whenever she moved into a new house she'd call home, place her order and have new furniture shipped to her new house. Must be nice...

Thanks for the link. Handy to have. As you noted, the schematic, like the one in my hard copy service manual, doesn't show the timer or relay.

I now suspect that my glow plugs were probably toast by the first time I noticed the light on unexpectedly so I may have been without functioning glow plugs for years.

Temperatures below 50 during the day are rare here. In a few months I will give it a try in the early morning.

My tractor manual says change the oil every 100 hours or more frequently if the operating conditions are severe. (Manual's filter change interval is 200 hours, not that I've ever changed the oil without changing the filter.)
I change the oil and filter every 2 years as I don't usually put on the hours.

One of the advertised 'benefits' of synthetic oils is you could stretch the oil change to twice as long, however my '16 Subaru requires synthetic every 6000 miles, which is less than my '08 Subaru at 7,500 miles using conventional oil. Go figure. I use synthetic or a synthetic blend in my tractor for cold-starting performance, not for an extended service interval. But if you have a tractor with a turbo or other fancy engine stuff, stretching the changes is asking for trouble.

Consumer Reports evaluated oil change strategies a few years ago in NYC cab fleets and found no engine life benefits to changing the oil more frequently than the manufacturer's recommendations. You can also pack a sample off to a lab periodically and they'll tell you the health of the oil (and engine) and if it needs to be changed. Now, the test costs about what an oil & filter change is, so do you test or change?

So, I wouldn't go much past 100 hours without good reason. If you don't do it every year it's not the end of the world.

Actually I had just purchased the forks. The forks have a lip that hooks on the front. On the rear of the forks there are chains that go around the back and then clamps over the top edge.

I have use the forks to move brush around. It works good. You can push under or load the brush on and then just drop it out.
