I will soon be here 15 years. Well remember my first post on TP. Was asking about a "BOOM MOWER" for my tractor. The first person who replied was Iowafun believe correct murf was the second one. Iowafun fun began with "hope you have a big piggy bank" and he was correct on how much they cost. Found great people there then and still do. <br>

In 15 years my needs and wants have changed and got to where was not here very often but TP was always in my heart. Have been on a few different forums over the years and TP and one other (haytalk which is mostly for growing of hay) have been the only ones that to me felt as amongst friends. Now friends will joke with you, they will pick on you but they will care about you. <br>

I recently hit back here and so blessed to have done so. Some of those ole and old people are still faithful and some have passed on. One I still think of often was ole Earthwrks (think have the spelling correct) who was an interesting person and it hit me and many other hard when we learned he died at too young of age. <br>
<br>
There was then and still is much experience here. There is a willingness to help. It still is a place you are amongst friends. It is my desire to help others with my little bit of knowledge and one time remember well someone posted their tractor was running hot and I said check your air filter. He came back and said that was his problem. Don't remember who it was that posted he thought my suggestion was crazy or such but he wanted to know how impressed about the recommendation when it was the guys problem, Only a person who respects you would do so. <br>

TP was full of them then and I believe still are. To those who are just looking here once in while invest in it. Read each post and if you think your thoughts might help them share them. You often know more than you realize. If you had that problem before share how you solved it. At same time share your how do you do this or what about this project....you will be amazed at some of the levels of experience here even among the young generations!<br>

Let me take a moment to say to Dennis thank you for all your efforts to make TP such a great sight and all those who contribute to it with each post. <br>

I am reading this having the impression you have not had it long. OK the fluid is full.<br>

I am assuming you just pulled the dip stick or sight gauge on knowing the fluid is full. <br>
<br>
If that is all you did it may be full but could have issue with clogged filter or filters or even contaminated hyd oil. <br>
<br>
If you are not sure the fluid and filters have been changed recently like last 100 hours or run time change it to begin with. Would say do the same with the engine oil and all filters, air and fuel.<br>
<br>
Find out if there is a screen in the tank that needs to be cleaned also. A dealer ship should be willing to tell you. If you buy the filters there have no doubt they will. Matter of fact if you are needing to change the fluids and filters stop they and tell them what you having going on and ask them if not that any thoughts. <br>
<br>
If this is not your issue have no idea. <br>

Paul, You were correct that the safety functions were the primary cause of the problem which I hope is resolved. Plan to use the tractor and mower tomorrow to sort of 'lower the weeds'.

Good memories here. Does Frank still make it to TP? We exchange letters about once a year but this year think twice. Wow things are speeding up for me.

My youngest son in law is considering leaving his current job where he writes programs for a phone company and going to an independent work. All he could say is the gross income is better.

As to people moving here from up North, neighbor who moved here from western Maryland told me this week, wow they are moving in here really fast! Yes they are. When we moved here 20 years ago a tractor or combine going by was common. Now they are rare. I feel like Daniel Boone, not enough elbow room.

OK, now were getting somewhere.

The down 'n' dirty (pun intended) DIY hack is to roughly top dress the lawn by rigging up a length of chain as a yoke from end to end on one side of an old metal bed frame or something similar to make a crude drag. Make the chain long enough that the front edge just starts to lift up when you drag it behind the tractor. Once you've got it set sprinkle some screened topsoil on top of the frame and start dragging it around. The frame will shave the high spots and allow soil to drop down into the low spots.

One decision you need to make is how heavy you want to top dress the lawn. Repeated light applications will allow the majority of the existing grass to just grow up through the new soil, slowly building depth of soil and roots. A heavy application will require a more serious seeding job and over the whole lawn, not just the 'new' areas that took more fill.

Don't be afraid to ask more questions.

My 16 year old grandson has learned, if your pants are on your knife is in them.

When I went to school BOYS all carried a knife. It was a must have tool, still is. At same time a gun rack in a pickup (two wheel drive pickup with factor rims and so forth) your hunting gun was safe in it and if a teacher asked about the gun they normally liked guns.

Sad how times have changed.

As to the Kershaw they make some very fine knifes. Bought an easy open one and did not understand how easy it was and how to carry it safely and that ended my toting it. Still a fine knife.

Handson, you thoughts on hurting your back...that my friend is the reason we bought the ferris as our second ztr. It has full suspension with springs and shocks and larger commercial mower size tires and oh yes a great seat. Not air ride bit my recliner is not as good.

Our Bushog which was their mid level when I last viewed their product line (not aware of a dealer for them near me any longer but pleased with that mower) basic seat, smaller tires all lead to bouncy ride if lawn is not very smooth. The Ferris run at least 50% faster than the Bushog and is much smother ride. Tire size and the pressure means probably the most to the ride. Not seen a ztr that wants the tires pumped very tight.

Expanding to Handy things to have in your pocket. I bought this Kerskaw pocket knife at least 30 years ago. 2.25 inch locking blade with rubber handle. For its size you do not notice it your pocket. Nice to have with you .

I did the relay thing many years ago and it starts every time. My Cub-Cadet is a 1994 model and is still running strong with no problems.

I enjoy Hog hunting. I'm from Michigan and the feral hog population is almost non- existent. The local game farms are like shooting domestic animals.

My best experience was with a guide service that can be found on "hogswat.com". They are located in about South Central Alabama. These guys were awesome. They only night hunt and they supply the guns and ammo along with their service. A hunt is $500.00 per night. My hunt was several years ago. At the time they were using Daniel Defense AR's using .223/.556 rifles with 75 grain bullets. The small caliber AR has almost no recoil, so fast follow-up shots are possible. Hogs go down very hard! Their thermal scopes were military grade Armasights.

The hogs are found in open fields that feed in cornfields and pecan orchards. They are definitely wild animals and are not caged or fenced in and are not gamey tasting.

I hunted toward the end of February. A bad winter storm blew thru the I-75 corridor and was -20 degrees in Michigan when I left. I-75 was snow covered and later snow and rain covered. Travel on I-75 was down to 35 mph nearly the entire way. Kentucky had 4 inches of snow with about 2" of rain on top. The following night I hunted, I-75 was shut down in Tennessee from ice.

My guide was Lee. The weather was overcast. If I got more than 30 feet behind Lee, I couldn't see him in the darkness. The thermal scope allowed me to clearly see beyond 300 yards.

Hogs can run about 35 mph. My first shot was a standing shot and nearly broadside toward my left about 100 yards and went thru its heart. It spun around running nearly perpendicular to me toward my right. The second was a lung shot. After that it ran directly away from me. At that point, target size was about the size of a 5 gallon pail bottom. It jigged and jagged while running and I hit it 3 more times. At about 100 yards away it flipped over and was dead. So, I was 5 for 5 in less than 10 seconds.

They generally recommend more than one evening hunt. I only hunted for one night. You should have multiple encounters. If you don't get one, you are a bad shot!

Lee drove an older 4 wheel drive van and we vehicle stalked around many farm fields and orchards. He had a thermal handheld monocle that was tethered to a screen near the rearview mirror mount of the windshield. So I could see what he was seeing as we searched.

Be careful of the many scam artists in Florida and Texas. The hogswat guys are awesome. You will be spoiled with the thermal scope. Hunting in the dark is difficult at first and requires some getting used to.

That is great I will try it out. So I should look for the sfdlkhasd;fsdlf code at end of youtube URL. I will try with a lawn leveling video I saw that was just using a piece of would with no machines ugh on a small small lot.

Not an electrical engineer, but the Lithium cells are probably a good idea in certain circumstances. I got them for my elderly Dad as I knew he would not be checking them.

That said your empirical evidence shows virtually no life span difference with never changing batteries so that sounds better to me as the lithium version can never be changed if they fail.

try to jump start it to give it an extra boost,if it doesnt engage its most likely the solenoid,saw the other reply about tapping it with a hammer,thats worked before for me but i still ended up changing the started,depending on model,type,age etc..a starter may be cheaper and better fix than a solenoid,let us know what you discover

KT it's around 9200# if I recall correctly, 500# heavier than the comparable Case 310, but more expensive also. The swing up door and direct hydraulic controls is what convinced me to go with the Kubota.

I'm looking for the brush mower, I'll check the other brands mentioned, thanks.
