Hello I am new to this forum and have used it to help answer a lot of questions I have in trying to learn as much as possible about Japanese tractors.I am in need of some help I acquired an agricat 254 with the Y385 engine from my brother in law and was not running and had not been running for about 3yrs.Initially the starter was bad and would not crank over,having rectified that I put new fuel in it and repaired some fuel leaks and was unable to get it to fire up.He had told me that it had been run hot a few times and could not resolve it and gave up on it.I set out to rectify the overheating issue and found the head gasket bad between 1 and 2 cylinder,a wrong thermostat and a plugged radiator,having assembled everything with new headgasket thermostat and properly cleaned radiator I have tried to get this thing started and cannot get it I have read a lot about the bleeding procedure for the fuel system and have replaced the sediment bowl,return line,main line to sediment bowl to pump,glow plugs.When I crank it over it acts like it wants to start but just wont go,when I bleed the lines I have fuel to injectors and I am just wondering where I am going wrong.Please help the newby to the diesel world.

When my Bx22 is in 4wheel mode and under any sort of strain, even just holding me back as I go down hill, there is a sharp snapping sound from the front end. I can feel it in my feet as well as clearly hear it. It is very evenly spaced. It reminds me of a missing gear tooth or a slipping chain.

I have downsized from a JD 3120 with a grapple and looking to buy a CubCadet 5254. I am wondering if this little tractor supports front hydraulics added on to add a grapple for picking up hay bales?

Hi, I know this post is 14 years old but just in case... I would like to make my B6200 wider cause I tipped it today. The idea of adding 2 rear wheels is not bad. Is there another suitable way? With thick enough wheel spacers?

I would replace any rubber line that you have on the fuel system. With the newer diesel the rubber lines are swelling, I have had problems in several tractors with this.
Did you also clean out the primary filter and wash the screen?
The system is self bleeding but can suck air into itself too. I had a problem with the primary filter drawing in air after I had cleaned it once. Since it draws the fuel from the top of the tank in later models it is easier to draw in air if not tight.
After I replace filters I prime the system with the line feeding the injection pump loose till fuel comes out. Close this and continue pumping the primer, when the air is out you can hear fuel returning to the tank.

If it had run until air got to the injector lines then you will need to bleed them as well. Prime the system, loosen the lines at the injectors. Crank the engine over, with the De-compressor lever pulled out. Close the lines when fuel sprays out.

I have posted a few inquiries on the net. If I can find a source I'll post here. Otherwise I'll probably spend the boss's money on a spider kit, as he'd have to pay me almost as much to make the rollers. Comet, the company that apparently made the clutch, has gone through a change of ownership and doesn't seem to be supporting small repair parts.

Also, I have replaced the two rubber hose segments in the supply line from the tank.

Thank you for that info, but I already knew all of that. I am wondering if the governor plate and linkage could cause that, do you know ?? I changed the oil and filter last summer so I am sure it is ok, it was the first thing I checked.

Changed paper fuel filters and cleaned injectors to address lose of power. Then the tractor would start and run until engaging PTO. Within a minute it looses power and dies.<br>
Tried to purge air from lines. Is there a trick or sequence of steps to get it all out? LB

Make sure your thermostat is closing or at least that the engine is coming up to the proper temperature. Cold diesels do not burn all the fuel only partially and that will come out the exhausts!

I have a CC 7305, which seems to have the same injector solenoid and a similar injector pump (my 30hp just needs bigger squirts or fuel). 1/16" seems a bit short of a throw for the solenoid.

There are two wires to the injector solenoid. The pull-in coil is connected to the Start contacts on the ignition switch and thus is energized only when the starter motor is engaged. This coil takes a lot of juice and can't be engaged for long or you'll burn out the coil - not a real issue when the tractor is running right. The other coil, call it the 'keep pulled' coil, is connected to the Run contacts on the ignition switch. This coil is energized till you turn the ignition switch to off, at which time the solenoid disengages and the injector pump stops pumping.

If you have an ohmmeter, check to be sure both coils are still good (have a bit of resistance); you've checked this. (The lower-resistance one should be the pull-in coil.)

Next check is to run a wire from your battery's positive terminal to each of the solenoid terminals while you look thru the injection pump inspection cover. If one of the terminals moves the solenoid rod a 1/4" or so, you've found the pull-in coil.
Next start working your way back from the solenoid to the ignition switch; does the pull-in coil wire get voltage when you go to 'start'? If not you've got a wiring problem or maybe a blown fuse although I don't think there's one dedicated to the solenoid.

Assuming the solenoid is OK, A 'bailing wire' fix would be to rig a push-button to energize the pull-in coil just before you turn the key to Start.

It's possible the governor is stuck, but unlikely. In summer the glow plugs shouldn't be necessary.

Is the return spring broken? Many times when they won't release either the spring is broken or there is some corrosion. Penetrating oil is then your friend.

Try connecting the hydraulic lines up to the other side of the valve and see if it works then. Many times the quick disconnects go bad and is the only problem.
