It will surprise me if that tractor does not have an electric fuel cut off valve. Proven by the fact it cuts off by the key for it a manual fuel cut off you would have to pull knob to. Go back to the fuel line either end and track it to the other end, you should find it.
Power will open and most likely the lack of power allows a spring to shut it. I may be wrong on the exact way it cuts the fuel. But a diesel runs without electric but it must have fuel and most diesels use electric cut fuel valves for much customer friendly I would say is the reason. Now your tractor could have an emergency cut off that would be a pull cable or rod in the cab. I have three tractors, my B2710 Kubota only has electrical fuel valve, M6800 Kubota has the emergency cable and my JD 5525 could not tell you sitting in my office if it has an emergency pull cable or not.
IF you are not seeing a wire to splice back together would think there is a plug in connection a wire was pulled out of so you have a length missing. May I suggest you put up a NO RAT ZONE sign (hey see if that works, lol) and keep the dogs away. So far never had issue with rats but our winters are mild and tractors would offer little more comfort than other easier targets. Then I do try to feed the little fury fellows when they show up.

You are blessed to have your parents and mother in law. It can be a strain but treat them with respect and love as it seems you are doing for you shall miss them. Experience speaking. My mother in law is our last parent and I miss each one who has passed. My wife and will time to time talk about how things have changed and how we have worked to improve the family land, both sides, and wonder how pleased they would be if they could see it now. Put a lot of work, time and money into doing so and thankful for every little bit.

Do not know on the fan but of the tractors I know all pull the air. A quick check here, may give a good idea. With tractor running a good rpm see if you feel air coming through the radiator. If not I would change it to pull. I did post this on your thread about it running hot but also check the air filter and the air intake system. If clogged or heavy restricted will cause the engine to run hot also. My guess you will find air filter is way past needing to be replaced if you have not done so already. let us know.

Yes I did. finally fount a tractor mechanic that is going to splice into the hydraulic lines to hook up the front loader. I also have a 4' Box Blade for it. The blade is a little heavy but works well. Great little tractors.
I also restored a 1971 Cub Cadet 147 tractor with electric lift.

It is possible, you may can look at the bald itself and tell by damage to the paint on the blade where it bolts on the tractor. Years ago think that was somewhat common here as our summer heat is, well hot.

If you have removed the radiator to check it most likely you have checked all the normal first steps like is has right mixture of coolant, thermostat and water pump. Did you check the air filter? If its really needing to be replace it will cause it to run hot. Matter of fact check from the intake to the filter just in case a wasp nest or such is in there.
