My uncle has a Hinimoto and when he checked the transmission fluid it was low so he put 80/90 wt. gear lube in it. It is a gear tractor, but I'm not sure what model. I'm assuming he should have used hydraulic fluid, but he doesn't have a manual. First question, was my assumption right in that it should be hydraulic fluid? And secondly what kind of damage could it cause with the gear lube if say he put a pint in?

Universal hydraulic/transmission fluid = to JD303 or better. I have manuals for many Hinomotos. ....

The Walmart Super Tech Heavy Duty Hydraulic & Transission oil will meet the required spec. It is made for Walmart by Specialty Oil Company which is a division of Pennzoil-Quaker State Company. I used is in a Cub 154 Lo Boy for over 10 years with no problems. It is a BUNCH cheaper than buying at the dealer. ....

80-90 gear oil will burn the hydraulic pump up, you need to drain it and replace it with universal tractor hydraulic fluid. ....

Just joined this site but I have a Hinomoto E 16 manual transmission gear box with original name plates on it and says in English to use SAE 80 oil in it. Would agree to use hydraulic fluid if it were an automatic transmission but it is not. Most manual gear boxes/transmissions use SAE 80/90 oil. The lift unit in this machine does use hydraulic fluid. ....

I have a Hinimoto E150D I guess maybe between 1979 and 1982. I do not have a manual but it does have stickers in English here and there. One sticker on fender says transmission fluid rear axle front axle something like that but it says gl3 or gl4 80 weight viscosity. Do I put 80 / 90 weight gear oil in the transmission or should I do like my neighbor says hydraulic fluid / transmission fluid 80 weight? I do not know what GL 3 or GL 4 stands for can you explain? ....

Thanks to those who have helped with this. This is for the main gearbox but there is a smaller box under seat, on top of the main gear box....hydraulic pump? What fluid does this take please. And the fuel pressurization pump.....what fluid for that one?
