Question:<br>I have a B7100D 4WD w/ D-750A engine from the early '80s. I heard that some later years of this model had cooling air blowing out the front of the radiator. Is this true? I sure would like to have engine heat and exhaust blowing somewhere else, instead of in my face. Can I buy a replacement fan blade for one of these later years and swap it?<br>Thanks<br>Geoff

I have a Kubota B7100D 4WD with a D-750A engine from the early '80s. I heard that later years of this model had fan blades set up to blow cooling air out the front of the radiator. Is this true? OK, with Len's new clue I went back to my ol' Yanmar literature and found some interesting things. Yes, the 187 does have a longer wheelbase, almost 10% longer. And the transmission shifter is moved the traditional position to the dash.
Mike, the 186 used the 3T72HA engine while the 180 and the 187 shared the 3T72HAN engine. (the engine number has meaning. It is a 3 cylinder tractor engine with a 72mm bore. "H,A, and "N" means some minor modification to the basic design.) So it would mean nothing for a 187 to have the engine with a 180 tag.....they are identical.
The YM187D does weigh more than the YM186D...1658 vs 1344 lbs. - which is sort of hard to believe. And the 3 pt hitch is rated at 1036 lbs vs 661.
In case you are wondering, that YM186D was the tractor that I lusted after some 20 years ago....It was just slightly beyond my finances - which is how I ended up with the YM165D - and why I still have some old YM180/186/187 brochures. The YM165D turned out to be a fine machine, and led me to all sorts of interesting times with compacts.

Do you think a 2 inch pipe can be sledge driven? I have a large electric demolition hammer, I was thinking of welding and inverted steel cup-like fitting to a hex shaft that fit the electric hammer and trying to power drive the pipe into the ground. I would like to get down to 25 feet. Any comments.

i WENT CHEAP AT FIRST WITH A TSC REAR BLADE, BROKE IT AFTER FIRST SNOWFALL,
RETURNED TO STORE TO GET NEW ONE AND BROKE IT AN HOUR LATER. i FINALLY BROKE DOWN AND BOUGHT ALL WOODS IMPLEMENTS.

I am fixing to purchase a new tractor. I am looking at the JD990, NH Boomer TC40, and Kubota L3710. Looking at the tractor in a comparison, it seems the TC40 with the 12X12 SS is more tractor for my money. Locally (North Georgia area) the TC40 is lower priced than the other two. I am getting the tractor, R4 tires and bushhog. I am not interested in Hydro tranny. Anyone have opinions on my future purchase and anyone have any experience with these tractors? I am wanting to stay under $16k. I am gonna be using that tractor for bushhogging only.

Thanks for the info; I might keep track of purchases next trip to Ontario. My kids love the appropriate "squeeze right" road signs that we see. "Merging" is not as fun.

I don't see this as a JD problem; I see it as an industry problem.
1. What I seem to be hearing is that the tractor owners are disappointed when they have mechanical problems - but basically would be satisfied if the dealer was equally concerned and motivated.
2. On the other hand, a lack of straightforward communication with the dealer and factory will turn an owner's disappointment into anger.
I admit to some frustration myself...Why are these two simple concepts so difficult for manufacturers to understand??
And guys, please note that JD is at least making some attempts to figure out what makes their customers happy and sad! I don't think that this is due to 4000 series problems, but has been their policy for more years than any of us have been around. When is the last time that you heard from any of the other manufacturers whose tractors are discussed on this forum?

My two cents... I bought a TC33D with a 7308 loader and a bush hog. I really like the ability to quickly remove the loader and put it back on. I have 8 acres with about 3 in grass. I mow everything I can fit the tractor into with a finish mower (bought for my last tractor) and like the results. The bush hog has never had a problem with anything I can run over so I have not felt any lack of power.
I have never used the larger frame tractors and I bought the 33 because it was the most power in the smaller frame and I wanted the smaller frame so that I can manuver better in between the trees. For my purposes, the 33 is the biggest physical size tractor that I would want.
Having said all that, most people will tell you to get the most horsepower you can afford. So far, that has not been a problem for me. Hope that helps.

I am considering buying a NH TC33D with a 1012 loader and a 7500 Backhoe. How does the 1012 stack up against the NH 7308 and the 7500 against the NH 757C? Power, strength, durability. I will be using the machine to do some of the<br>lighter excavating for a new house (driveway work, landscaping, etc.) I<br>am also interested in knowing how easy it is, or isn't, to attach and<br>detach these implements compared to the NH implements.

Anthony, how do you like the Woods 1012 front end loader? Did you compare it to the 7308. if so, what did you conclude? I am considering a NH TC33D with a Woods 1012 loader and 7500 Backhoe.

Murf, thanks for the input. First the property is located in SW Virginia and not too much of a frost heave problem. Now to the clay, I believe I am stuck with that and my thoughts were to mix lime or calcium cloride with the clay to form a soil cement. I will not be depending on vegetation for erosion control and plan to do my best to rid myself of these weeds. I will cut in some run outs, ditches with a french drain and gravel cover to drain off the road. Lastly, I will place about a 4" layer of crushed stone. I hope this sounds OK, if you have any other ideas, thanks in advance and thanks for your past help.

Glen, while I don't have any Green tractors (a fleet of Orange & a couple large Blue & Red Ag. tractors) they ALL have the same problem in winter, Hydro. or Gear drive, THE COLD, fluids thicken, batteries lose power, etc. Best advice I can offer is this; 1)use a block heater, 2)use a battery heater (small electric blanket that you wrap around it), and most importantly, 3)let the machine run for a short time (5-10 min.) at 1200-1500 rpm before doing anything else, this will allow the engine and trans. to warm-up a little before you start to work them. Best of luck. P.S. 4 months today is New Year's eve.......LOL

The deeper I dig into this decision, the more I am leaning towards the 2710. It's more money but more machine also. I think the 7500 could do the job but with the 2710, I'd feel more strongly about this. Appreciate the comments so far - Thanks!

I want to thank everyone who responded to my post. This is a great forum! I have been "reading the mail" for about 6 months and learned a lot. With regard to snow removal, I now know what my options are will do a little more research on blowers versus loader blades before making the plunge. Thanks to all!
