I'm no fan of Deere's Ehydro transmission. I've been called upon to help figure out why the error codes keep coming up on these things. In many cases the error codes are due to ice, snow, dirt, twigs, grass, manure, etc. But it's not easy to figure out, due to the stupidity of the engineers.

I always thought tractors were meant to be used in all of these conditions without causing any problems.

Rather than have an "Error Code 1", for example, Deere uses a system of dashes and dots, etc. Without access to Deere's special decoding manual.....which is very expensive.....there's no real way to figure out what the error codes mean. Unless you're a trained JD service tech, those error codes will be entirely meaningless to you.

Search the internet.....or this site...for common problems with the tractors you're comparing. In this day and age there's no excuse for blind purchases.

This may not be very helpful and does not answer your question, but maybe it will help someone.

Mine broke the same way. It breaks when someone grabs it to hoist themselves onto the tractor, instead of the supplied hand holds. In my case I loaned the tractor to a contractor who was doing some work here and he broke it. Apparently it was not locked all the way and a tooth broke off of the mechanism. Since he was paying I had it fixed by Deere. They replaced a few broken parts in the mechanism AND the steering wheel that the mechanic broke when pulling it off. It was about a $1k repair which was nuts.

If I was paying I would have attempted the fix myself.

If you ever loan it out be sure to instruct the borrower to NOT use the steering wheel to pull themselves into the seat.

The Zetor Zebra 2040 is the predecessor to the Wisconsin Engineering W-4000 Farmer, which is a current product. It apparently is not considered a legitimate product by Zetor which is a major tractor manufacturer in central Curope

There is a parts catalog for the Zetor Zebra dated 2009, and many parts are still available. I have a copy. Other references can be found on this forum.

BTW, I also gathered some info regarding the Kwikway front end loader.

I don't have a parts catalog for the engine, but would recommend you contact Petra.

Sounds like your by-passing at the remotes. I know mine comes from the pump to loader valve to the remote valves to the 3pt box. When using the log splitter with the remote full on the 3pt won't work.

The frost plug heater has a rubber boot around the portion that fits into the frost plug hole in your block. When you tighten the screw, that rubber boot squeezes out and fits tight against the walls of the hole in the block.

Don't over-tighten it, as you could damage the rubber boot. It needs to be tight....just not too tight.

Here in North Dakota we use heaters on everything. Battery blankets, fuel tank heaters, fuel line heaters, block heaters, tank heaters......you name it. The problem is most of these things are not eaily installed on smaller tractors. These heaters draw fairly large amounts of power and our little tractors don't have large enough charging systems to keep them functioning.

A fuel tank heater will only work for you while the tractor is sitting next to an outlet.

Up here we use full hood blankets. These blankets are insulated and cover the entire tractor hood...engine, side panels, and all. The heat that is trapped inside the blanket will help keep your fuel tank and fuel lines warm. The blanket has a small adjustable opening in the front to allow for cold air passage through your radiator. When it gets down to about 20 below zero, the radiator opening can be snapped fully shut.

These are easy to sew up yourself. You can buy them of course, but it's not necessary.

I had a similar experience with my Jinma 354. The problem in that case was the return line fitting on the fuel tank. The fitting seemed tight but when the tank was filled to around 3/4 it would seep. Further tightening resolved the problem

My 2510 was like that when I got it.
Things that come to mind, is the depth control turned off.
The small lever down and behind the main one push toward the axle.
On mine, The linkages for the control were bound up.
I took everything off and cleaned it up. You have to be careful, take a picture of everything as you take it off.
There is a lever that actually controls the lift, it has a wheel on it. The wheel rides on the controls.
If you move it then the lift should move both up and down.
If moving that lever lifts well and goes down, then the linkage could be put on wrong or bound up like mine.

No foot pedal but a hand lever just below the seat. There is no linkage adjustment on it as this would be too simple....lol<br>
The manual shows a nut adjustment which I can't see anywhere. I'm afraid it's on the inside of the rear end as there are some plates that have to be tightened, not simple.

It goes decent in the snow until it high centered. Chains help but might need to remove the rear fenders. Mine doesn't have the fenders so I'm not sure about the clearance.

I was unable to find a descent knob, maybe it doesn't have one. its Currently in the up postion I have the draft sense all the way forward and the other control set to lower. it did drop down a couple nights ago but would go back up. the when I was using it, it decided to go up. I double ckd the levers and cables all are attached and tight

Not sure about that post that said the problem was corrected, I did not post it. But thanks for the advice, I am going to try and run down s shop manual for it, the adjustment rod on the side of the tractor does adjust the point of engagement and release but it didn't seem to have any impact on the PTO. Only 396 hours on it, I certainly hope it's a simple adjustment.

It has a glow plug...

BUT, get a block heater installed and plug it in for a couple of hours BEFORE you plan on using the tractor
