This is probably an easy fix. Remove the tin cover over the shifters. slide the rubber boot up to the top of the shift lever. At the bottom of the lever is a snap ring that holds the ball in the cover that the lever pivots on. Pry that snap ring out and lift the shift lever out. The look down in the hole and you can see the two shift rails that the lever engages. There will be a slot in each shift rail that should be aligned with each other. Be sure the tractor is parked on a level spot where it won't roll. If not securely chock the wheel for the next step. With a long screwdriver or small pry bar. reah down through the hole and pry one rail forward or back to get the slots aligned. SOmetimes a piece of the slot may be broken or cracked that allows enough slop in the rails that gets the shifter jammed, but if you get the rails realigned and then install the lever down into the aligned slot, It should work again. It is sometimes possible to remove the shift cover that holds the levers and weld the shift rails to repair. If rail replacement is required, the tractor needs to be split and rockshaft removed to replace.

Had the same problem. Had my carb over hauled by an old John Deere expert. No it starts ok. The power adjustment on bottom of carb will need to be adjusted the get things working correctly. It may take a bit of tweeking.

Are you aware that the rear track can be set to 8 different widths? Two different widths for the front. Whereas changing track width won't make the tractor any shorter, it will lower the center of gravity.<br>

For what has been given, I'd go with a fluid change so you know what you have.
It should be about the same thickness as a ten weight oil.

Do not know this tractor but sounds like the clutch is slipping. Do you have manual on the tractor? If so look to see how to adjust the clutch linkage and see if that solves the issue. If not you may have damage or worn out clutch for the PTO. kt

Thank you both. It's a John Deere Gator 4 X 2. No cleaning chemicals/solutions were used, just copious amounts of water from the garden hose. Yes, he did 'clean' the engine really, really, good. - Robert

Joel I grew up about 5 miles from town but that was a major trip back then. Today live a little further out and think nothing of running there for lunch and back for supper. None of that would have happened in my growing up days nor when first married. Boy have things changed. Some for the better but not all.

We did plan ever trip to town for it you forgot or missed something it was normally next week to get it. That was not all bad.

Then ordering parts or supplies was a great way to buy and then wait for the delivery. Funny it is now gone back to that with ordering often off line and getting part of what you need the next day and lords knows when the rest will show up. LOL

Show conversation about John Wayne on cable the other day and it was told her grew up with Sears and other catalogs and still like to order from there all his life.

I have always found could gather more information from catalogs or on line than in most stores. Clerks often do good to know where it is in stores today and then to tell you what store does have it in stock. But no idea on fit or operation. Have second electronic motion sensor (indoor light) to return to Lowes within two weeks. It came packaged with wrong label and then does not work with timer or light sensor dependably. In the good old days of 14 years ago put in first one and set it simply and it lasted and lasted and now price is over twice, more like three times that switch and a piece of China failure. But Cooper is not the only USA company to do that, sadly.
I agree on enjoying reading about how others find and handle the situations there. kt

I just bought a project tractor and the plate says its a T25A1 ser 53392. The tach drive cover is broken and the drive plate,inside that is mounted to the gear is missing. The oil filler casing was broken and repaired. It had been replaced using one SAE bolt and RTV. How much play should there be on the pump drive gear? As the engine is turned over the gear moves forward and back, is that normal? <br>

Can the engine been run without the tach drive plate installed?<br>

Any idea as to the year this was made? Does anyone have a parts listing of the dash, seat, throttle linkage and other different areas compared to the 250AS model? The parts, service and owners manual I have are for the 250AS.<br>

I have a bx2350 with out a loader valve and I need to install a single spool valve so I can control a hydraulic top link. I want to connect in where the loader valve would connect to the hydraulics. Im not sure how to connect the valve. On the tractor block it has a pump port a power beyond port and a case port. Has anybody here ever done this kind of thing?

Glad it worked so well. One last thought, if not obvious route you use make a simple drawing of the route and save if for future digging. Then the wire should be easy to find with metal detector but plastic water line is another matter.

When this was written was not aware we had any coyotes in our area and but since have seen only one in day light and it was sure different the way he looked at me compared to a dog. For about three winters had a neighbor who trapped our few acres and he did catch a few along with some fox and bobcats. If not mistaken he sold the furs from all of those and did fine with the hobby.

Was talking with a new neighbor yesterday afternoon on this topic and as well as deer and wild hogs. We have all but not to the point of being over run with anyone. What brought it up was his asking me why no rabbits.

My question is any idea how wild hogs and coyotes interact with each other? I would think the coyotes will kill the pigs and the hogs will kill the coyotes as either is able to catch the other. kt

I just returned late last night from my Easter holiday. Sorry for keeping you in the lurch. I am glad to hear that the seller has agreed to work with you on THEIR issue that they sold you. Let's see how they make out...if you still desire the information afterwards, drop a note.

I can remember when the power steering option came about, and what you described as priority hydraulics. On the earlier models than the 1750, Orange had what was referred to as "Power Assist Steering", which was not power steering at all, but rather exactly what the title implies...assistance. From there, Kubota incorporated a REAL power steering system into the mix.
