The book that came with my L4310 Kubota advised not to run rpm's above that needed to do the job. I would suppose that meant no lugging. Just use common sense, if the weeds are small don't use wide open throttle. Use enough rpm to do the job and not lose more that 1-200 rpm on the heavier spots. Sounds as though you already have it figured out.

Rick, I would go with the larger frame Boomer. The TC29D and 33D are excellent tractors but with 36 acres to manage I think you can use the bigger tractor. The price difference is not that significant when you look at it over the life of the tractor. I own a JD 4600 (larger frame) and like the size of the tractor. I owned a 4300 prior. The longer wheelbase and larger tires makes for a much smoother ride. The extra power does come in handy especially if you use a loader frequently. Equipment such as PTO powered brush chippers take horsepower. I drove the TC35D with the powershift hydrostatic and was impressed. I did not get a chance to see the loader removed but I trust it goes on and off quickly. I liked the unobstructed view from the tractor up through the loader. NewHolland did nice job on these big frame tractors. In the end it comes down to your particular needs. The more finish mowing you do close to your house the more likely the smaller Boomer is the choice. But in my opinion with your large acreage the larger tractor will be the better choice.

I bent the same shaft on my #7 backhoe when it was new. I removed the cylinder and took it to my JD dealer who gave a replacement cylinder. he took the cylinder off of a new #7 BH on the lot. There was "no Charge".

I suspect the shaft was not prperly heat treated during the manufacturing process. Therefore, the metalurgical properties of shaft did not meet the material specification requirements. i.e. the shaft is weak "soft".

Sure sounds like a defective hydraulic cylinder to me. Can't imagine anyone making an argument that a cylinder failure could happen from abuse. It is also the first time I've ever heard of the ram on a cylinder bending, though I guess a cylinder could also fail by having the junction from the ram to the piston come loose at full extention. From the outside that condition would look like a bent ram. No matter which, it would most probably be due to a manufacturing defect.

I have had the tractor for 2 weeks and it runs great. Thanks for all the information from <br>everyone. it came with a loader, brushhog and boxblade. It came down to a TC29D or<br>b2910. So far I love it.

I run a 4' bush hog on my Kubota B2400. That is the size the manual recommends. It has no problems with a 5' finishing mower or the 4' rotary mower on level ground but once I start on the steep slopes in the pasture it takes all the horsepower to climb and mow at the same time. I know it wouldn't handle a 5' bush hog under those circumstances. It appears as if the bush hog takes a lot more hp than a finishing mower.

I have a JD 790 with factory R4 industrial tires. They work well for lawn work around my house. I think the ag. tires would tear up your yard. I think the R4 tires (4 wheels) cost about $250. extra. John.

I have a JD 790 and like it. I also like a gear transmission for the cost savings. I paid $12,000. for the tractor, 4WD, hydraulics for future front end loader, liquid filled tires, R4 industrial tires, 5 front weights and delivery (not including tax). I have seen the JD 790, 4WD with standard ag. tires on the JD web site for $10,995. Seems like a good deal for a 30 HP tractor to me. I agree that 4 WD will be your best investment. John.

jerri, glad you responded to my request about women and tractors. You do many different tasks with your tractor and seem very comfortable using all the attachmnents. I only use a 6-foot blade and a 5-foot brush-hog. Have a wonderful old heavy blade that is spring loaded to change positions. I can pull the handle down and kick the blade to the proper setting. I like to keep the road smooth as possible. It(the road) is made up of mostly caliche with some gravel on it. The blade is hooked on to the old TO-30 and I seem able to keep the thing running by cleaning the old carburator now and then. My mower is attached to the new Deere 4300 with a front end loader - this way I don't have to change implements!!!!!! I am not very good w/the loader - haven't lost my fear when the front tires come off the ground! Still, it's wonderful for carrying heavy loads. Thanks for responding, Joann

Thanks Tom yes I'm looking for a second hand bellhousing- preferably. I was told by my local dealer they couldn't get one initially but now they've come back and said they can but it's nearly as much as the tractors worth!

I have a John Deere 670 and my back and shoulders were acting up after lifting and shoving implements to connect them to the 3 pt hitch, so I decided to get a quick hitch. From reading input to this forum I knew that I would have to do some work to make everything work. I bought a Land Pride quick hitch with an adjustable top hook. The quick hitches sold by Tractor Supply and Northern Tool are much cheaper ($169 with fixed top hook and $189 with adustable top hook; however, the Land Pride hitch measures 27 1/2 inches between the bottom hooks and this measurement is crucial. After measuring everything I set the top hook 18 inches above the bottom hooks. My Bush Hog 4 foot finish mower hooked up perfectly, with the exception that I have to use a short chain to the top hook in order to have the required flexibility which enables the mower to ride up and down over bumps and dips. My John Deere 4 foot shredder also hooked up OK; although, I had to move the pins to the alternate location and again substitute a short loop of chain for the upper linkage. My Modern Dragon 5 foot blade hooked up fine without work. My Modern Dragon 30 inch rear scoop and my Meyers crane were a disaster and I had to take them to a welder and have the pins moved to different locations. Recently, I have slapped together crude dollies with casters so I can move the implements into position without having to lift and shove and use a bar to get them into position behind the quick hitch. I am satisfied with the results; however, it took a fair amount of work to get everything adjusted. Something I don't understand is that the bottom hooks call for the use of the little tubes that increase the size of the pins to those used with a Category II hitch. These spacers aren't expensive and are readily available at my John Deere dealer; however, without them, implements jerk around in use. I suppose that doesn't do any damage, but it seems strange that the bottom hooks aren't make for 7/8 inch diameter pins. Anyway, the horizontal measurement between the bottom hooks and vertical measurement from the bottom hooks to the top hook are crucial. Good luck if you decide to proceed with this. By the way, unless I'm mistaken, the horizontal measurement on the Northern Tools hitch is 26 inches.

Just got a JD755,60" mid mower,315 hrs. I think I put 20 hrs on it today!!!! I noticed a small leak on the power steering cylinder at the rod glan seal . Is this cylinder rebuildable. I could not see how it disassembles. Seems to have the end caps welded on ???? Also any hints on hooking up 3ph equiptment? Do you set the implement 3ph end on anything ? Those 4xxx series slip joint link arms are looking pretty good ?

jeff, i live in northern ky. we have the same rose problem. have found no real good, cheap answer to the flat tire problem. i have a hyd. top link which allows me to raise the mower up and lower in onto the rose bush. also works good on thorn trees we have in this area. they will destroy rear tires for a couple years after mowing untill the thorns soften up.

Keep in mind that it doesn't have to be a compact tractor. Twenty six acres is enough to consider that JD also makes the 5000 series tractors - which are about the same size as the 4600, the same or sometimes even less money, and are much more sturdy built. It sort of depends on whether you are going to use the tractor to do mowing or not....or maybe I should say that it depends on what kind of mowing you will do. If it is field mowing with a bush hog I'd lean toward the 5000 series. If it is finish mowing you want to do then the 4000 series is probably the choice.
And you might want to look at the Kubotas. People who have them seem to be pleased with their tractors.
