Joel, I like mechanical stuff! In my heart I think if a man made it this one can tear it apart and sometimes ever put it back together. Often it works when I do. I like your attitude and really admire what you face. My wife and I were just talking about the 7 mile drive to get a tire tube and how we had to plan that! For you that is about the walk from house to shop, lol.

Glad it worked so well. One last thought, if not obvious route you use make a simple drawing of the route and save if for future digging. Then the wire should be easy to find with metal detector but plastic water line is another matter.

When this was written was not aware we had any coyotes in our area and but since have seen only one in day light and it was sure different the way he looked at me compared to a dog. For about three winters had a neighbor who trapped our few acres and he did catch a few along with some fox and bobcats. If not mistaken he sold the furs from all of those and did fine with the hobby.

Was talking with a new neighbor yesterday afternoon on this topic and as well as deer and wild hogs. We have all but not to the point of being over run with anyone. What brought it up was his asking me why no rabbits.

My question is any idea how wild hogs and coyotes interact with each other? I would think the coyotes will kill the pigs and the hogs will kill the coyotes as either is able to catch the other. kt

I just returned late last night from my Easter holiday. Sorry for keeping you in the lurch. I am glad to hear that the seller has agreed to work with you on THEIR issue that they sold you. Let's see how they make out...if you still desire the information afterwards, drop a note.

I can remember when the power steering option came about, and what you described as priority hydraulics. On the earlier models than the 1750, Orange had what was referred to as "Power Assist Steering", which was not power steering at all, but rather exactly what the title implies...assistance. From there, Kubota incorporated a REAL power steering system into the mix.

Perhaps there was a modification in production practice, bad materials, whatever at that time...certainly seems interesting that there were many of whom experienced similar problems AND results.

I have four units to date. Two are 028 AV Supers, MS290, 024. The 028's have an 18" and 20" bar on them, with chisel tooth cut, and bought them new in 1984 ! They may be heavier, but by golly they run great still ! I don't believe I will get the service from the MS290 as the 028's but we'll see.

We have a JD 4X2 not quite that old and did not realize it has a belt other than the drive belt. But if it is slipping would guess it would squeal and it would travel slower and weaker pulling.

My guess is as I think joyce1 is asking did he use a chemical that could have made the belt slip (one of my son in laws asked if I wanted him to spray a belt to prevent it squealing this week, glad I asked with what and he was talking about WD 40). I would also guess the chemical or the washing has created enough of electrical path to slowly drain the batter or has damage the generator so it is not charging when being run. OR the battery just happened to finally fail at the same time frame. Pull the ground cable off and charge the battery, the disconnect the charger and wait a couple of days and try and see if it has held the charge. If so doubt it is the battery. ky

I read some of the statements from yesterday's hearing at the supreme court on the Aereo case. Justice Roberts asked if rather than technical innovation was not Aereo just doing the remote antenna approach as a complex method of circumventing the copyright law.<br>

This got me to thinking.... some of you may be old enough to remember that rabbit ear or outdoor or attic antennas were the only way to watch TV in the old days.<br>

Did you ever wonder why TV Over The Air OTA antenna reception never improved over the years, but I venture got worse.<br>

Did you ever think to notice that when the government mandated the end of analog TV signals in favor of digital HD signals again the latest technological innovation did not improve OTA signal availability.<br>

My supposition is that the broadcast networks found out that they could receive copyright royalties from the cable and satellite corporations and therefore had no reason to improve OTA in fact the worse it got the more money they make.<br>

From this perspective Aereo is filling a void that the Broadcasters created of their own volition. In 2014 you need a remote antenna for OTA, the broadcast networks have created this situation, why can't I rent an antenna?<br>

Some Chinese tractor dealers had a canister conversion, but I think it was for Jinmas. I'm not saying that one doesn't exist for Foton, but don't hold your breath.

On a separate thought, the engine oil should actually have been changed at 50 hours. Collective wisdom has determined that all the Chinese fluids should be drained and flushed after no more than 50 hours. From that point - once gear boxes, hydraulics, engine oil/coolant - are replaced with good clean North American stuff - you can then follow the maintenance intervals recommended in the owner manuals.

Good point from Murf! On with the dry rot or slice. If the tire is dry rotted I'd be worried over inflating it as we have had them blow the tire while inflating!!!! Should be caged or secured.
Depending on what you have that might cut the tube as Murf brought up a blow out patch applied to the inside of the tire might help it last longer.

You probably have made up your mind by now but would think a slow dumping bucket would be an issue for some material. Also the tractor brand, not familiar with it. Is there parts support for this rig? kt

Low oil pressure is a good sign of internal engine wear. The increased gap (due to wear) between the rods and crank......as well as the gap between the mains and crankshaft will allow oil to escape. When this happens, the pressure drops significantly.

A heavier engine oil may get you by for a while.......but the fat lady is warming up behind the curtains.

Oils all have different tolerances of water they will hold. The milky condition is from moisture and you had better do something to cure the condition.

It is far more of a problem in the north with the temperature swings from freezing to heat then in the south. When the oil gets more moisture then it can absorb it will build up in the lower areas of the transmission, the same place the oil pick-ups are. When the water freezes it will starve the pumps when starting and cause failure of the pump and possibly more.
