We have an older gator (W004x2x010674) which someone said was a 1995? Kawasaki eng FE290D168212. Been running great for years and the other day ran out of gas. Put fuel in and won't start. No click, nothing. Replaced battery, ignition switch and now solenoid. Still nothing. If you jump across solenoid it starts right up as long as the key is in on position. Turn off key shuts off motor. The only safety switch I know of is the one where it has to be in neutral. There's no actuator in it to lift bed so those wires are just hanging inside. We did find a 30amp double blade fuse where all the actuator wires are, but I figured that was for that? I'm am dumbfounded! Red battery cable has a red wire at battery end that looks like it comes from voltage regulator? (the heatsink looking thing mounted on side). The other end of Red cable goes to Solenoid and gets mounted with another red wire that I assume goes to the switch. Black battery cable goes to top of engine ground along with another black ground wire. There is no other wires hanging around without a home. I can't find a wiring schematic anywhere on the internet. Can anyone please give any suggestions? I miss my gator :( thanks, Kim

On the tilt lock would look to see if trash may be holding it from locking. On glow plugs no idea on this tractor but think manual may call for them at lower temp. Have a Kubota and in hot weather can start it fine without using glow plugs but even then it will start a little faster with even a couple of seconds use. How long it has sit may have some impact but my guess is he was told to use them so he does. Wait, was that with engine cold only or for each time he started it? If he must use them on warm engine think issue.

Paul, we have little new Gator with bad gauge also and I think there is a snap on clamp that holds it in. I have only look a little at replacing ours for our use gauge is little needed. Have not even priced one.

Would like to hear back on this. Including price if you do end up buying a gauge.

Be sure you do NOT buy non synchronized transmission. Be sure you have power steering. Be sure it is comfortable to YOU and the controls make sense as you will want to use them without having to look at them. You should test drive it just like a high price auto, carefully and how you would use it.

Try to think honestly what you will use the land for and be sure you buy for 5 and even 10 years down the road. I think more people buy under size than over. For me, my needs grew.

It is my impression the two hammer hit vibrates to loosen the tire rod. Think other methods just use force. Will totally agree with method Ken describe early on oiling it and then trying dual hammers.

I suspect Joel has hit it for you. You may wish to use jumper cables to the starter (not bypassing the starting solenoid or any safety switch) to see if that works if so right certain bad cable connection.

Had same issue with a battery and had to remove from battery and ream out the clamps. Seem to remember some issue with certain cable clamps over the years build up a glaze.

I've had this Belarus 250AS for about 10 years now. Has around 600 hours on it. Use it for light pasture mowing, driveway scraping and light plowing. Other than replacing the starter, it's never given me any trouble.<br>

I was mowing. Tractor came to a sudden and complete stop. So sudden it broke the shear bolt on the mower. Duplicated the problem with the PTO disengaged to rule out anything to do with the mower.<br>

Problem seems to be related to the Forward / Reverse gear stick, as the tractor drives fine in reverse.<br>

With the tractor out of gear and forward gear engaged, I hear some noise and rattling in the gear box. With the tractor out of gear and reverse engaged, I don't hear the noise and rattling.<br>

Or someone suggested there is an adjustment nut at the base of the Forward / Reverse gear and sometimes that needs to be tightened. I can see the nut, but can't get a wrench on it. Looks like one may have to remove the floor plate to get a wrench on it.<br>

Before I do that, I wanted to see if anyone had any other suggestions what the cause of the problem could be.<br>

Well, got it out! The solution has nothing to do with the hydraulic filters.

Drain or siphon the oil out of the hydraulic tank.

Remove the plate on the side of the tank facing the front of the tractor (the one with 5 bolts).

There's another hole that leads to the bottom of the tank. Siphon the oil out of there. Using a magnetic grab tool, I was able to get the dipstick out. I'll never use the dipstick again, just the finger method!

Well I took the valve off for the back arms and check all o rings and blew out the lines it's still jerking bad! I'm running out of ideas!
Now the front loader is jumping only when letting the loader down. But stops when pump is under a strain Any ideas??

Hey Inducnito, where did you get your manual for your 460? I just bought a old 460DT and am really looking for more of an owner's manual or "what is this lever for?" manual. Sounds like you may have what I'm looking for.

Thank you very much for your answers guys.

In the process of looking for a rebuild (seal) kit for the power steering ram and a set of injector lines to replace the brazed and again dripping set that's on it now. Other than that the tractor is in tip top shape. Will be plenty for the little work I have on the 1/2 sec here. Mostly fencing and handling round bales for the horses in winter.

Will keep my eyes out for one w/a 3 point hitch tho will have to be one that prob came from y'alls neck of the woods

Your NH dealer should be able to give you a wiring schematic from the tractor right at the parts counter for that tractor. You might have to ask nicely at some dealers to get one!
