Kubota B600 - engine issues

I understand the B6000 has a Kubota ZL600 engine, what other Kubota engines will fit without too many issues. (Happy to move engine mounts and radiator forward)?
The present engine runs, but does not hold water as it runs in to the crank case (I don't have any other info at present). Would this be a simple head gasket issue, or something else?
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks :)

A thought...
Is there any 'freeze' plugs that can drop out (if frozen with no anti-freeze - I have no history of the engine) between the crank case and water jacket? ....

You need help beyond me but before I ever began to think of replacing a tractor engine certainly would want it tested by mechanic if I could not. My limited engine knowledge is a bad head gasket could be the problem but a bad head or cracked block could also be the issue.
Do you think it may have frozen without antifreeze in it? If so based upon an experience many years back think you are past a head gasket. ....
