That'll save you money on copper then. Assuming a 6500 watt (surge) generator, 8/3 UF w/ground will deliver 230 volts with 3% loss. And if you haven't purchased electrical cable before, it's cheaper by the spool than by the running foot.

In that case, I don't see a neutral/fault return path to the generator. In addition to the mismatched ground potential I described earlier, you also risk isolating the generator circuit breakers. I still recommend you follow my original advice; bond the generator housing to the residential common ground (typically under the electric meter).

hardwood that makes sense. my alternator in my old kohler burnt out because the salt air got to it. it is so hard to pick one of these air cooled standby generators. i like the Gillette because their alternator is 9" compared to 7" on other brands but Winco is considered a workhorse because of ;t's Honda engine.

Tires with large lugs are great for deep mud and snow but do nothing for you on ice. Here is a comparison of off road tires. Read where the bigger the tread blocks are, the worse it is on ice.

ANyone have a flywheel ring gear or flywheel for a MF 1030 or know where I can get one. Every now and then the starter hits a bad spot and just spins and doesn't engage.
