Okay it went to ZERO but did it go back to working? If not seems you need a new hour meter. Would suggest you keep memory on the hours when it failed.

I have replaced the belt between the PTO sheave and the double idler several times this summer. I am using a B-39 belt from CarQuest. Can someone tell a novice how to set clearances for the belt guard or any other tips about the PTO belt.

I retired from farming in 07 so I've forgotten a lot about most everything, but the crop insurance I'm sure is different now than I would have remembered.
I do rfemember it coud be bought at different levels, but even the highest level wasn't as good as getting a crop.
We did get four tenths of rain but more than that it has cooled off. The four tenths won't save the crop but it did make everyone feel better.

Oil leak seems to be gone. I drained about 3/4 of a quart from the engine oil, cut for about a half hour and no leak. Glad it was as simple as that. Thanks for the advice.

KT, I can tell you it's painful when your father goes. Worse when your mother follows. But the loss of a sister, even an older one, for me was the hardest of all. It's not a passing that you expect to witness, and it serves to emphasize our own mortality.

There is a threaded rod underneath that connects each peddle with the brake. Loosen the locknut and screw in the rod. You want 3/4" to 1 3/16" peddle free play. This is per the manual.

I've only owned the tractor for 5-6 months and have put about 35-40 hours on it. I did change all the oil, etc and had it tuned up at the dealer before I used it so maybe it's time for all that again.

I only own one implement with a PTO and that's the mower but the work has been dusty so I could see where there may be issues with the air/fuel filter. I did check the mower and it does turn freely (the blades could use a sharpening however). The gearbox on the Bush Hog does get warm yet I can leave my hand (uncomfortably warm though)on it after mowing for a few hours. There is no dipstick or other means to check the oil in it. Any idea how I would do that? There is a plug on the side but obviously if I remove that the oil would come out.

I did have an issues with trach in the tank a couple months ago. I took it to the dealer where they charged me $240 (ouch) to siphon the fuel out and blow the debris out of the tank. It was a similar problem where the tractor would bog down but would "stall" slowly- just like it is running out of fuel. The new problem stalls the tractor VERY abruptly and is different then the previous problem.

Would an issue with the hyrostatic filters cause any problems like this?

I'll change air/fuel filters to see if it helps. Are there any online dealers to order the filters from?

I really believe your best bet on the Long is try to find a former dealer of theirs and ask them on the parts. It is my impression some parts are still available but not all. If you don't know a dealer who sold Long I do and will be glad to pass on his info to you. He is type of person who will try to help and they do ship parts and have some access to used parts for Long.

The 460 is about 46 hp right? I have no idea what numbers on the four digit are the hp indicator.

hi there i think i can work it out now have seen a picture of how kabota do it just could not work out why the the arms were so high up once i saw the picture i saw that they had vetical arms that lift the two bottom arms up thank you. bushy

I've just read through your posts.
I'm from NZ and am in the same predicament.
I've bought a brand new Stihl MS311 saw on Ebay and have found out that it's nearly impossible to bring back to NZ.

I thought because it's brand new and still in it's box that it would be fine. However, the airline say any chainsaw is considered dangerous goods.

They recon chainsaw manufacturers test each saw in the manufacturing with gas. So it's a no go unless you have the right documentation and proof that it's been purged.

So I'd be really keen to find out how to send it back to NZ. I'm flying to LA next week for four days and am hoping to be able to find a way to bring it back or send it.

I was thinking sea freight. How did you go about it and who did you use?

The model 261 was setup to run at 540 RPM. Same mower as the model 260, just different RPM settings.

It does not have an air filter, it has a air dist. chamber. Hyd fluid level is ok. I found if you pinch off the fuel return line to the tank it runs great. Any more ideas?

For those tight places I found this hand fluid pump to be a handy tool to add fluids to axles.<br>

After some research I found that the Performance Tool Quart and Gallon pump fits the most one quart bottles perfectly. The hose that comes with the pump is very short so I went to Lowes and got 6 feet of 3/8 inch plastic tubing. The pump is very inexpensive, just plastic. To remove the short plastic tube I heated it up under hot water and used a butter knife to help push it off. <br>
