Certainly it is made to JD specs. But what is different about their specs? It might still be a common engine.

Jeff is correct, you will loose some load capacity due to the weight of the thumb and mounts. You need it to be easy to pull pins on and drop for that reason and when it will be in the way.

I have the opportunity to buy an old Kubota L295DT with a front loader. It is a 1975 model, well maintained although much faded and rough tin work. I am a mechanic and a tinkerer so working on it is not a problem. Anyone have an idea what this might be worth? It has about 2300 hours on the clock, but I am not sure whether that is accurate or not.<br>
Any help would be appreciated<br>

I strongly suggest to buy the proper tool from JD or take the engine to a dealer and have them remove the clutch. The JD tool is made of hardened steel, any home-made tool could bend and or get stuck causing more expenses.

Noise location can be difficult to isolate when tractor is running/moving. Could be in the front diff, drive shaft, transfer case, sliding gear, etc. I'd first determine if the front wheel drive is actually working or not.
1. Park tractor with engine off, block rear tires.
2. Jack up front end so both tires are off the ground
3. Put tranny in gear, put select lever in 2wd
4. rotate one front tire, the other should spin. Repeat on opposite tire.
5. move selector to 4wd
6. rotate tire again, neither should spin. Repeat on opposite tire

Let me know what those two tests reveal, and at which point (if any) the noise becomes apparent.

Hey, anybody had a problem with the drive belt on a 6x4?<br>
I blew a belt #(M125383) so i went on Ebay and found a belt "DAYCO" replacement is #HP2030 and it came today, but it seems to long. any input? also the secondary clutch seems like it has to much pressure on the belt :( does any one know how to check and adjust?<br>

I finally got a chance to try some things. Connected jumper wire to the black wire. Grounded to the motor and the engine stopped immediately. Hooked up a ground wire from engine to frame. Still takes 4 or 5 seconds to go dead. I think I have good connection, but I am going to re-do the set-up to make sure. Also, I have been asking around here, and have found one other Gator owner whose machine does the same thing. His has been taking about 4 seconds to shut down for over 2 years. I guess when mine doesn't shut down at all, I'll do something, but for the time being, I'm just going to live with delayed shut down.
Also, I haven't seen any posts about the fuel shutoff solenoid on the carb bowl. I found out that this solenoid was the reason my gator would sometimes not start. I found that a sharp tap on the solenoid (with the switch turned on) would free the plunger in the solenoid, and then the engine would start. I removed the solenoid and cleaned it, but the problem persists. JD wants $81 for a new one. I can do a lot of 'tapping' for $81.

You'll be getting parts from a JD dealer anyway, so that would be a place to start. If you google "tractor [or Deere] manuals" offers will pop up but I don't know the quality.

thanks a lot for the info,i pulled the flywheel out and 3 of the magnets behind the flywheel are in pieces so that must be it,i called john deere and they wont sell you the magnets only i will need to buy the whole new flywheel.

i have an opportunity to buy an old Belarus tractor. It's model 82 from 1986. It's very old machine and i can have it for only $6k. My question is: is there any chance that it will be reliable? Becouse as i read on this forum, these tractors break all the time.<br>

Hey Kawboy I know it's been a long time since you posted this but I have the exact same gator and would like to sone what copy your idea on the aftermarket conversion. Could you send me any more detailed pictures? Also did you ever figure out a way to lift the back end and add suspension? If so could you share? I know this is a long shot but please respond with any thing you might like to share.

Well, 2 weeks ago I visited the JD dealer in Spokane WA. Off the cuff quote for 2920 with FEL and filled R4 tires delivered was 16950.00. I did not try to haggle or anything. Just wanted to see the rigs upfront and get a feel for how this all works.

I have owned a 250AS for 10 years and it has always had some type of problem, primarily electrical and fuel. Now the tractor won't start-starter motor issues. I checked all of the wiring for poor connections and located a rusty burned connection. There is a little connecting box underneath the the right hand light switches up a corner underneath the dash cover. There are two lugs on this connector box. One of the connectors has two wires leading from it, both red. The big red wire leads back to the starting ignition switch and the small red leads to one of a light bulb. The other lug on the little connection box also has two wires. One large white wire leads to the glow plub and the other small white wire leads to same light mentioned above. The lugs on this little connection block are rusted off and I need to replace this small connection block. I looked up the item in an old manual and I think it is calledthe auxiliary resistor, part SE50v. But maybe it is a starter relay, RS502. Can any one help me? I know I can buy the relay but what about this auxiliary resistor. The tractor has other problems but I want to make sure all electrical connections are up to snuff. I have replaced the starter switch and the ground switch.
