You're forgetting one important difference though Storm.

When you're working it, even with WOT, it's not moving around very fast, so all the heat coming out of the rad is blowing down the length of the engine.

When you start to road it that heat disappears really fast, if the fuel is right at the temp where it will start to freeze, that loss of heat may be all it takes to start gelling up.

Before I tried anything else I'd be dumping a generous dose of fuel conditioner into it.

I don't think I could even begin to list all the reasons why [u]this is such a bad idea![/u]

Mower blades are forged and then tempered. Using 'regular' steel would result in a blade that tended to throw off little bits of steel every time it hot something.

That's if you were able to get them balanced enough that they didn't just fly out from under the mower completely.

I'd take one of the old blades to a farm dealer, it sounds like what you have is a rotary drum/disc (hay) mower blades in a finish mower, but those are usually no more than about 4" - 5" long.

If you have no other options but to 'make' your own, I would most strenuously recommend you at least start with the right beast. Get a mower blade for a regular push mower that at least is the right steel, with the correct size pilot hole and so on, then cut it down (using a band saw or hack saw to reduce heat) and resharpen it to the correct cutter shape.

BTW, if you have to use a grinder, try to use a 'wet' wheel, or a very large slow turning stone.

I forgot to say welcome to the form, we try our best to help out, sometimes we can and sometimes not, but we try, and a bit of humor now and then is fine too.
Other than the front seal I haven't had anything only a new battery and regular maintenence. Last summer when the seal started leaking my first thought was that the bearings were bad being I've never had the loader off and the loader has moved lots and lots of dirt and snow, but they were fine. Other than the seal so far so good, all the electronics kind of scared me but again so far so good.
I probably change oil and filters twice for every scheduled maintenece period in the owners manual, but my thought has always been the oil, filters, grease, etc, are free compared to repairs.
Whether it is my Chevy pickup, Trailblazer SUV, Farmall tractors, or our Deere 4310, mowers, Gator, etc. I've always been a firm believer in using the filters, oil, etc., that the owners manual calls for. If they didn't think their oils and filters were good enough I doubt they would recommend them, they don't want your equipment wearing out prematurely any more than you do.

We just purchased the EX3200 for $18.7K at our closet Cub Cadet local dealer (excluding tax)- our bumble bee. Our price was for the tractor, loader, 60" belly mower, and delivery. Delivery won't be for a couple of weeks as the dealer had to order the loader. So, we'll try to update once after we've had a chance to use it for a while.

The tractor is an upgrade from our Kubota BX2230 which is a great but is too time comsuming to clear our 800' driveway that is prone to high snow drifts even in a normal season and we are often helping others. The BX2230 did dig us out of 5 foot snow drifts.

We also looked at a Kubota B3200 (dealer quoted $16.8K with loader) which the dealer told us was the replacement for the B7800. We also looked at the Kubota L3400 (dealer quoted $19.1K with loader). All numbers again exclude tax.

The L3400 was too tall. The height with rops folded was 77" so it is too big to fit in our shed and we are not kicking a car out of the garage. It also doesn't have a mid mount mower deck. We have limited storage space so that is a big issue. We didn't even test drive the machine for these reasons.

The B3200 is one size up from our BX2230. We didn't think that it was enough of an upgrade in terms of size. For example, it only weighs about 400 pounds more than the BX2230 and is physically not that much more impressive.

Since it is a Yanmar,after we purchased it today I was curious to see how it compares to the John Deere line up. We didn't even try the John Deere dealer as we knew they would be expensive. Kubota compares their L3400 with the John Deere 3038e. From the picture the design looks very close- but I didn't look at the specs very closely. We didn't look at the New Holland as the one dealer that we spoke with said the the NH's were more expensive than Kubota and they sold both.

I really appreciated the help that these forums provided us in our purchasing decision. Hopefully, we can help someone else.

Friend took it to another guy he knew. He had a little more time than I did and found both intake rockers of. He put them on and adjusted them and it started right up. thanks for the help.

I have determined that the hydrualic oil is getting into the engine crankcase. The only place this can be is at the hydrualic pump. There is an oil seal on the end of the pump at the engine block. Does anyone know how hard it is to replace ?

Well, we checked all linkage for clutch, direction lever and gear selection lever and they seem to be working. Tried to adjust the clutch and tractor seemed to want to move but just won't get going. Caqlled the local dealer and he is picking it up today, he thinks the clutch needs to be replaced but will double check what we did first. I found out the clutch had been adjusted twice before during the fifteen years it has belong to the company. Some other tractor guys told me if the clutch has been adjusted a few timesw it probably needs to be replaced now, oh well.

The first two wheel drive Gators we had were just about helpless on snow or in mud. they had a diff lock but all that did was have both rears spinning at the same time and still stuck. They came from Deere with a turf type tire tread that instantly filled with mud or snow, and with one turn of the wheel you were stuck. I never tried a different type tread tire but I do think that a tire like is on our XUV that has lots more open space between the lugs would help. Having four wheel drive and the open tread tires has improved the Gators a whole bunch. We don't use ours on the snow very much but still get in minor mud once in a while and so far haven't had to be pulled out. A couple neighbors had a good time with me when I got stuck right by the road and of course everybody I knew drove past. "Hey Frank, HO HO HO, you said those Gators would go anywhere HO HO HO".

Murf,

I agree with you. The three point hitch isn't designed to be a pusher. The 3-point hitch is meant to be a puller. It's very strong when pulling any implement.

I try not to make a habit of pushing in reverse. As you say, it could mean big trouble.

Over the years, I've seen some hitches that were totally detroyed when a guy was pushing the blade in reverse and hit a parking curb with one end of the blade. It's not a pretty sight.

You know Murf, looking at this when you commented on it, I fully agree with your comment. Just because many get away with something dumb does not make it safe.

Total agree the clutch is not working correcting with the PTO for some reason. It does not matter whether single or two stage clutch it should not grind.

You are correct about what Tractor data shows. I would suggest you having a mechanic look at this. You might be able to stop in a local dealer and ask a few questions. I much rather pay a $100 or so and find out need to pass than to buy it and have major cost or you may pay and find out it is simple adjustment and great shape.
