I guess either IA, MN, WI... Not in any rush. Stick with this brand AGRACAT or what? I did a little searching and any JD they want a fortune unless its like 1960�s and beat on, also Kubotas. I definitely need 4WD.

Those Ford engines were used on Bobcat brand skid steers too. And Mustangs and Mavericks from the 80's. My buddy took out his bad 4-cyl. in his Bobcat and shoe-horned a V-6 from a Mustang--with exytensive body mods to the skid steer. According to him even the engine mounts were the same. Like Tim Taylor from TV's Home Improvement would say Ar-ar-AR--ARrr More Power!

The 2bbl carb on my dump truck--they wanted $1800 new. A buddy gave me a really worn out one and I had that one rebuilt locally for $300. It looks and acts brand new now--they even recoated it to match the old greenish anodizing. I wasn't sure if they could even rebuild it since nearly everything mechanical was wobbly and loose. The owner let it is slip that the rebuild kit cost about $80, so maybe that's an option and do it yourself.

Also there are likely other mfg's that offer a direct or near direct replacement carb. Easy enough to surf the net for it.

I normally recommend looking at local markets. You might try www.tractorhouse.com or iron search. The cunstruction market is flat right now in much of the country but depending on how you are equipped I'd think mid twenties.

I don't know if they are going to change the cab or if they are going to move the backhoe back further from the tractor.

They have talked of it in the past meetings and will hopefully see something at the meeting later this month.

There's a reason the Belarus (and the rest of the Russian tractors for the most part) have a 24 volt starter.

Most of them are a real son-of-a-gun to start in the winter without really cranking them over. A 12 volt system just takes so many amps it's a real wiring problem. By doubling the voltage the current is cut in half.

On many pieces of large equipment it is very common to find 24 and even 48 volt starter systems.

If it's working why mess with it?

Does everything work right, ignition, etc? It just doesn't start. If your plugs are getting wet while you are trying to start it and you are getting spark at the plugs,I would almost bet it is the ign. module. Do you know anybody that has an HPX that would let you could borrow the module? It doesn't take long to change them, you don't even have to mount the new one, just plug it in and let it hang there. Does yours look like it has been handled? It is below the right rear of the motor and has a plug going to it. If your dealer isn't a large one, he probably doesn't even have one in stock. They are 350.00 and you can't take them back. If your tech just tested it and didn't swap it out, those tests in the tech manual are useless.

Thanks, I actually thought about that but the pin is a bit chewed up (not seen in picture)so I elected to just get a new one. I ordered the shift shaft direct from Tuff Torq for ~$30.

Can't you Tee into the supply and return for the FEL control valve body? When adding another valve be sure you use the right valve i.e., open-center v. closed center. Using the wrong valve will blow the pump apart.

Older models have an internal suction screen. You didn't mention external spin-ons, so I'll assume you have an older model. There's a steel hydraulic line that comes up the side of the tranny, then enters the lift box under the left front corner of the operator seat. It's an easily identifiable triangular flange. Remove the steel line and the three flange bolts. The suction screen is underneath.

Not sure what part of the manual you're reading, mine has a viscosity versus ambient temperature list. But in the part of the country you and I live in, 10W is the way to go. That way you don't have to do a seasonal hydraulic fluid change. Go to any auto parts or farm store, and buy AW32 hydraulic fluid. But before you pay, make absolutely sure it's AW32 hydraulid fluid - and not AW32 machine oil. That stuff will foam all over the place.

jdunphy- Its been a while since I have been here but I was going to sugggest the clutch. (Sorry I was late) I had a 6 wheeler that had the same problem- it actually ripped the engine off the mounts.

Jeff, I asked a friend who lives south of you a ways if he's ever had any luck with Cottonwood as firewood, he burns a lot of wood every year to heat his house, shop, and domestic hot water using an outdoor wood-fired boiler and several airtight wood stoves.

His reply was the only way Cottonwood will keep you warm is from the effort expended to cut it, split it, and hump it around from forest to fireplace.

He cuts a lot of it in his sawmill operation but all of it goes to a local place as pallet and shipping crate material. He claims it's pretty much useless for anything else.

What I would do is take the hood off and check for 12v at the red wire going into the ign. switch. Use a test light and ground it at the battery. If you have it, check it grounding it to the chassis. If you have 12v at the red wire with the battery ground, clean all the ground connections. Also check the hot wire connections at the starter and battery. You may have to ground the battery to the chassis with an extra wire. While you are looking check for signs of hot spots in both ground and hot wires. Bottom line, bad grounds will do funny things. I don't think I have ever seen a fusable link go bad. I'm sure they do, but I've never seen it. I just remembered something, before you do anything take the ground wire off the top of the motor and wire brush it and where it bolts to the motor, put it back on and try it.

Your tractor is little bigger than the 9N/2N/8N. And it was made after them in the 1950's from what I can tell.

Just one place I checked online shows:
