My guess is that your pulleys are gummed up with dirt to the point that the sliding half of the pulleys aren't slideing in to meet the belt. That's about the only way the belt could be loose enough to come off the pulley.
Try lubing the pulleys with some WD 40 where the little triangular holes are around the sliding half of the pulley and on the hub of the pulleys where the sliding half moves in and out. Be more than generous with the WD 40 to flush the gum and grit out.
If the pulley system and belt are original equipment a new belt wouldn't hurt and if things still don't work probably a replacement of the cams inside the poulleys along with the new belt.

There is a repower kit on line for around 2500.00. There is a 27 HP out there like you say. Check thegatorguy.net for rebuilt motors.

I have a Mitsubishi D2350 and the longer I run the tractor the slower the 3pt gets, almost to the point of not working. I put a different hydraulic pump on thinking that was the problem but still does the same. Any help would be GREAT?

Can you provide me a schematic of the terminal configuration? I pulled the PTO switch and tried checking the continuity as mentioned above, but wasn't sure I had the correct terminal selected for each test. The only terminals marked on my switch are the A, B, and C. I didn't see any other designations on the switch for terminals D-H. My initial assessment (assuming I had the correct terminal selected for each test) is that the switch is bad. I would like to confirm I had the correct terminals just to be certain.

No, I bought her new. She now has 150 hrs on her. The manual does mention a "primary" fuel filter but does not show it.

Float bowl was fairly clean, just a little sediment in it.

She runs great now, mowed for about 2hrs.

Whereas many parts of a hard working tractor heat proportionate to the workload, there is no direct relationship between engine temperature and clutch slippage. You have two separate issues.

200F is too hot, there should be a metric thermostat in there. Most common is 80C, which is about 176F. Most common reason for overheating is an obstructed radiator, most common location is behind the battery. Another common error is the wrong pressure cap, yours likely requires one between 3 and 7 psi. Clean the radiator with compressed air from the back. Avoid the temptation to use a power washer, they'll destroy the fins. If necessary, remove the radiator completely and soak it clean. Make sure the fan belt is tight, verify (or change) the thermostat and pressure cap.

Clutch slipping when hot sounds like one or both of the friction discs are glazed. Most common reason - riding the clutch. Fix is much more difficult than the overheating problem though, it involves splitting the tractor and replacing or rebuilding the clutchpack.

I just wanted to say thanks for the help and let everyone know that I got the gears back and I rebuilt the transmission and all is fine now. I'm still amazed someone could manufacture new gears from copying my broken ones. If anyone needs a new ignition switch or a used hydraulic pump, I have an extra of both.

I know nothing of your machine, but I would suspect loose or out-of-adjustment linkage, or missing pivot pin that controls the front wheel engagement.

On my New Holland I can't freewheel the front wheels--they are always connected. However, I can either lock the front wheels/axle in 4x OR use the SensiTrac option which allows the front axle to sort of freewheel UNTIL it senses one wheel or both need traction then it instantly locks up. All this happens quietly and seamlessly. What is critical here is a coil spring that controls lock-up. This spring is exposed and dangles from underneath. Do you have such an arrangement?

I have the same machine and model year. If you have fuel to the injectors it will start---unless something catastrophic happened inside--broken rings, crank, etc.. Just keep cranking it--it'll take a few minutes. Before it starts you should see white smoke, then black, and then it starts.

In the future if it dies like mine did, the fuel solenoid won't turn on. I had to run a jumper wire from the solenoid to the on-with-ignition-switch circuit.

I loosen the nut at one injector to bleed it. There is also a bleed nut on top of the injector pump.

A quicker way to bleed the system is to remove the fule filler cap, loosen all the injector nuts, and briefly pressurize the fuel tank. You can do this by using your mouth and blowing hard and steady for about 5 seconds. Or use a wet rag wrapped around an air chuck (for a sealer) and shoot a blast of air in it.

On my Dodge pickup with diesel I had semi-gelled (near frozen) fuel that I had to purge out. What I did then is wrap a wet rag around a shop vac's hose (on the outlet side) and hold it firmy against the fuel tank opening while the vac was running. 10 seconds later it was purged.

In my situation, I think the mfg. rates the engine to be used at a certain RPM, so that's a "given" when it comes to factoring in wear or use versus old-school machines.

In electrical terms think of the throttle being an on/off switch, rather than a dimmer switch.

I'd check your owner manual and see if you're in the proper RPM range. Otherwise, you might be doing more harm than good to your engine and drivetrain. The RPM's you're at are a fast-idle for my stuff.

I'm thinking, at aleast in my case, that my New Hollands' owner manuals say to NOT run low RPM, which is not good for them. Being hydrostats, the pumps and the engines are more efficient at higher speeds. Instead, they say to run them at "near- or at full-throttle" which for both machines is 2,600 - 2,800 RPM. Oddly, my newer skid steer doesn't even have a tach.

I sometimes get flack from older guys (old school diesel guys) on a job that tell me I'm running the engines way too fast. Once I explain it to them they understand.

I would check the switch and see if one of the two terminals is "hot" when the switch is in one position and then not when the switch is, switch and the other terminal is now hot. If so I would think the orange wire is the second speed. If not sure I would probably test one lead at the time with power to the red and then the orange by bumping the wire and then lightly touching them to hot wire. I would not try with the switch as you might possibly damage the switch if not wired as I would think.

Dennis ; You are right, The 020 AVP is one of my favorites, I have 2 of them. just right for limbing.I had an electronic ignition in one of them that went bad.The replacement one worked bur not for me.I found a dealer in SD that really knows his stuff.It would start for him but not for me. He said I was pulling the start rope hard enough, just not quick enough.He replaced electronic ign with points and Condenser an now it starsts for me. just keep in mind, it may not need anything! Ron
