Ann,

I think you have drawn the ENTIRELY WRONG conclusion.

NOBODY wants to have a peaceful, productive, and community involved and oriented existence more than I do. Wishing for it will NEVER make it happen though. Freedom has NEVER been free and carries tremedous responsibilities and duties.

Ann, the philosophy and "theory" of freedom & liberty is VERY SIMPLE........the freedoms, rights, and liberties outlined in the Constitution, especially the 1st 10 amendments to the Constitution "WE" are ALL born with. They come to us and are endowed upon us by GOD.

The government that "WE" the people created and enabled has the PRIMARY mission and sworn duty of protecting these rights AS WRITTEN in the Bill of Rights and Constitution. The government IS our servant and NOT our master.

The above all sounds great and I would think everyone would support and agree with this......at least I do. Where in lies the rub is that MANY of us who have been endowed with these great liberties and freedoms have chosen to ignore and omit the GREAT RESPONSIBILITY that comes with GREAT FREEDOM.

Less than 40% of the eligible citizens even bother to vote. Most of these voters are politically and situationally TOTALLY IGNORANT. Hence, since the turn of the century starting with President Taft who proposed a national federal income tax and excise tax, on through Woodrow Wilson who presided over a totalitarian "progressive" (read fascist) reign of terror and abuse followed by 16 years of FDR who took this to new levels. We now find ourselves so willing to accept ideologies, ideas, and conduct on the part of the government that in long past years would NEVER have been tolerated. This national/geopolitical cancer has slowly advanced and metastasized to the outrageous and out of control government we now have (see the frog in the cooking pot theory). This is NOT a republican or democrat thing as the republicans and democrats are pretty much versions of the same thing. In recent times our last republican president set new standards of abuse and oppression propogating his vision of liberal fascism.

The thin thread that our constitutional representative republic hangs is unbelievably fragile. All we have to do is rewind the tapes to New Orleans after hurricane Katrina. This combination tragedy/attrocity is STILL on going so long after this event. So soon we forget how civilization collapsed and even the police were looting, people were committing all manor of horrible crimes, and guns, ammunition, and food stores were being confiscated (read robbed at gun point) by police and other government officials.

Another example of how fragile our civilization is would be the Rodney King riots.

I don't think ANYONE here is advocating armed uprising or violent government overthrow or ANYTHING of that nature.

What I am saying is that apparently MANY people of ALL political stripes and ideologies ARE VERY scared. They ARE buying unpresidented amounts of survial/barter stores of various types, gun, and ammuntion. WHY??????? My thoughts are that I think it is PLAINLY apparent that MANY people are convinced that our society and its government are TOTALLY out of control, out of touch, and have grown to become of the thinking that "they" are unaccountable.

Ann, I could fill up pages about what I am talking about but I think it would be best to recommend to you a few books to read that may awaken another point of view in your mind. Have a read of the following books:

This certainly does NOT mean that we have no obligation or duty to help one another and our neighbors out. The most common of the Chinese CUT engines are multi-purpose. That is, the same engine has variants for tractor, marine, and stationary use (generators, pumps). Marine engines are typically water cooled, and I seriously doubt the stationary variants are air cooled. So it would be economically foolish not to construct all variants with water jackets and pumps. To underscore that, the 2006 EPA mandates require anti-pollution measures that necessarily increase engine temp (EGR for example) which absolutely necessitate liquid cooling. <br>

When you get into the larger engines, they're manufactured under license. My 454 for example has an Isuzu based engine. A lot of the 60hp and up have Perkins type engines. All water cooled from the drawing board.<br>

Several of the people around my summer place got together and formed a 'roads committee' to plan and do the road maintenance on the publicly owned but [u]not[/u] publicly maintained access road that serves our area.

A few years back the Township hired a new law firm to represent them, shortly afterward the head of the roads dept. stopped by with a letter from the new lawyer ordering us to stop working on the road.

The ratepayers association replied a few days later asking since we were paying the same taxes as the people down the road, where it is maintained by the Twp., but not getting road maintenance, school bus pick up, or garbage collection, how much of a tax refund would we be getting and how soon.

About 2 weeks later the roads dept. foreman showed up on a Saturday morning and told us the Twp. would provide us with any materials we needed as long as we would provide the equipment and the labour to do the work ourselves.

Funny that. LOL

I agree with the need for both types of mowers. I use a 72 inch RFM and for my yard with a swell in it would not want anything larger. You do want one wider than your tractor wheels are. I have side discharge but wish it were rear discharge. Did not realize they had those until after I bought.

Thanks for your input...I took apart the from drive shaft cover and found that a couplers snap ring had move and the coupler had slipped off the from axile spline. I put it back together and all is great. Once again I appreciate you taking time to try and help me.

Anybody got any info or experiance with thes and the electrics oe the lift and tilt. Mine quit working a day ago. It did it a couple of years ago and it was a moisture problem. sure would like a schematic of that printed in english!! Any help or ideas would be appriciated.

I was of the presumption that you had already more or less done this. In that case, I strongly second what Ken suggested. Wires being torn off of servo heads and other areas is no uncommon on these tractors.

After you've ruled out the more obvious things, listen to the Murfmeister. Yannies with the PS have both a main and a secondary relief valve in there. To check and/or adjust you'll need a service manual that gives the pressure specs and a gauge that you attach to the access port.

You might want to consider going with a 3-point hitch mounted unit like a Woods with rear discharge. They do a better job mowing and you can cover more ground. The resale is also much better since they fit any tractor with a 3-point hitch not just one model. They also go on and off much easier. The new one even fit a quick hitch. I see used ones on the market that still bring good money.

I have alot of experience with Woods rotary cutters and the bottom seals on the old Woods cutters are difficult. The problem is the blade crossbar sets the gearbox vertical shaft preload and if the amount of spacers is not correct you will quickly ruin the seal because the vertical shaft moves up and down when cutting. You can run cornhead grease in the old boxes if you just run an hour or two at a time. If you run it all day it will run out too. What model do you have? I have some old manuals and I can dig up the instructions. The new Woods cutter have solved this problem and they offer warranty of 8 years to prove it. I know of several old Woods cutter that have run for years with grease in the box instead of oil.
