[/QUOTE]Guess you haven't run across many Chinese tractors then Murf. First off, they're all metric - to include the temp and pressure gauges (centigrade and pascals). The vast majority run 80C thermostats, the gauges reflect 80C as green - 100C as red. A few come across the Pacific spec'd at 70C. I used both numbers just to get the OP into the right range, because others have screwed up thinking it couldn't hurt to put a Chevy 195F thermostat in them. The cooling systems are simply not engineered for that kind of heat and pressure. <br>

Now that I reflect on it, my Mercedes turbo-diesel also uses an 80C thermostat. There was an 85C option for places that have no winter weather.<br>

Woods has the nice little BH6000 backhoe for the subcompact tractors. They also have a little 4.5" chipper that's made for subcompacts. Check them out if you're still looking.

I just joined, so you may have already bought the backhoe. I have a Woods BH90X and it's rock solid for a better price. I would think there smaller units would be good, too. (Woods is sort of the first name in small backhoes.) If you don't need the extra dig depth, you might want to get the smaller model. Spend the money on the thumb - it's great for picking up odd stuff like concrete chunks.

Unless you have the hydraulic pressure test gauges, special tools, and a John Deere shop manual/CD, I strongly recommend you take this tractor to the your Deere dealer and have them check this problem out. It could be something as simple as a pressure adjustment or it could require major tractor surgery and remove of the reverser clutch pack drum assembly for rebuild. The more you operate the tractor under these conditions, especially if you let the transmission slip, the more you risk causing internal damage and or wear that may be avoided.

You have to be sure which size rime the machine was designed for---10" or 12".

(All skid steer tires are not the same size, even with in a series or brand---be sure to buy 4 or 5 of the same size at one time. If you don't you break or put cause undue wear to the drivetrain, not just wearing the tires.

10" rims use smaller height tires than 12". 12" tires can be as much as 1-1/2" taller, which doesn't sound like big deal, but if your machine is designed for 10" and you install 12" that will raise the whole machine as much as 3/4", which lifts the back of the bucket about an inch or more making it impossible to keep the bucket flat on the ground.

1845's are notorius for wheel bearings/axle shafts failing, especially the rears. My buddy paid #3,000 for his two rears to be rebuilt. Another friend put $1,500 in parts on his.

Radiators are also an expen$ive i$$ue.

Another tire option is pickup truck tires. I don't recall the brand but I've seen some machines with Ground-Hawgs, or something like them (looks like very wide, old-school "snow tires". In fact, before skid steers were popular, they came factory-equipped with pickup truck tires. If you go this route get the stiffest sidewall ones you can find which offer better stability, less bounce, better steering response, and better load rating cversus something lesser.

Sounds to me like you may have a problem with your pressure relief valve.

When the tractor is cold, the oil is thick and develops a [u]lot[/u] more pressure. If the relief valve spring is getting weak, or has broken, it may be dumping the fluid straight back into the reservoir. After it has idled for that few minutes the friction of forcing itself through the valve has warmed the oil up enough that it starts to act normally again.

Some delay is normal, our Kubota GST's do the same thing in cold weather, even with the lighter oil in them. We use magnetic heaters on the TX cases and it helps a lot.

The NT suggests it's a JM454 from Northern Tools. If in fact that's who originally sold the tractor, they'd be the folks to approach for another set of manuals (pretty sure there are four)

First Timer.... Need some help. Bought used 5234 3 mos. ago. 2004, 354 hrs, now have 374hrs. Was using FEL to dig dirt over the weekend and developed a clunking noise in the transmission while moving forward in 4wd and when Will make the same noise once in awhile in reverse. Sounds like something is hitting the case as it rotates but does not increase with speed. Also noticed that when you try to move the tractor in reverse at start up it fills like the brakes are on. Am I headed for a major repair? New to this board and tractor and could use some suggestions. Thanks, bob.

I have a xuv 620i 4x4 JD gator. It just recently started making a squealing noise, really annoying, the entire time the engine is on. I brought it down to the JD dealership to see what was going on and they told me it was the fuel pump and this is what they sound like when they get older. My gator only has 172 miles on it!!! Does anyone else have a gator that does this. Can it be fixed?<br>

am not sure if its a Turf or not the book book says Gator utility Vehicle. But I know the guy who bought it first he said that he had the bigger engine put in it and from what I can tell its the engine that went in the 6x4 gator. Its not the original engine and the plugs are long

Rich; When we retired and sold the lion's share of the farm we kept 50 Ac. with a house and shed, so I'm pretty close to a match, I'm even from NE Iowa.
I used mostly Deere farm equip because of a nearby strong dealership, so I've got a Deere 4310, (33-34 hp) along with the equipment to fit, loader, backhoe, tiller, brush mower, rear finish mower, and stuff I can't remember. It's been a solid dependable tractor with parts and service nearby when I need it, so I'm happy with it.
I've got a similar situation with waterways, road ditches, etc. to mow. I'd keep the zero turn and get a rear mount finish mower, but don't overdo the width of cut, just wide enough to cover your tracks. too wide makes them scalp in places, take more power and sometimes hard to manuver between trees, etc. Lots of good brand mowers, but I favor Land Pride, a bit pricey but hard to destroy. Sticks, rocks, and whatever seem to have a way of hiding in the grass, so a bit beefer is always good with a mower. Frank.

Is that who bought Allis Chambers tractors? Is there an old Allis Chamber dealership near you? If so talk with them. Some dealerships are good on used parts. Also depending on your state some State's Dept of Agriculture have a web site or paper for items wanted and for sale in their state.

I am sure there is, but everything is in Japanese. I have been messing with it and am getting close. With 3 knobs to turn and 4 buttons to click and 4 different settings it gets a little complicated but I think I will get it.
