First Timer.... Need some help. Bought used 5234 3 mos. ago. 2004, 354 hrs, now have 374hrs. Was using FEL to dig dirt over the weekend and developed a clunking noise in the transmission while moving forward in 4wd and when Will make the same noise once in awhile in reverse. Sounds like something is hitting the case as it rotates but does not increase with speed. Also noticed that when you try to move the tractor in reverse at start up it fills like the brakes are on. Am I headed for a major repair? New to this board and tractor and could use some suggestions. Thanks, bob.

Locate the source. For instance, if you shut down at the top of a hill and let coast, is the noise there because it's in a rear wheel (likely a brake part)? Or have someone listen for it while you drive slowly. Or jack the rears off the ground, drive them, and use a mechanics stethoscope. ....
